You do not have to be rich to travel -
American and Thai travel couple left the career in military and finance to become travel story teller, proving the world that you don't have to be rich to travel well. We met in 2015 in South Korea While working and studying there.
In 2017, September, we both kicked off traveling with $4000 in our saving account and first started creating 'divertliving' as a mean to :
☼ show you the world as the way it is - no sugar coated stuff, no hidden truth.
☼ provide you traveling tips as we consider ourselves as 'careful budget traveling couple' :)
☼ let you see our struggle and challenge we have been through while traveling and 'trying' to live digital nomad lifestyle as a mixed couple.
☼ give you positive vibe! as we are like that, we are positive couple :)
We're stoked to take you along our journey and we do appreciate having your support here

The water is there for different reasons depending upon places:
    1. In Mosques, water pond is for an Islamic practice called Wuzu or Wudu. Cleanliness is considered essential in Islam and one cleans his/her face, hands, feet there.
    2. In case of tombs and gardens, the Mughals (a Medieval Muslim dynasty that ruled India) brought the Persian style of gardens and canals to India (called Char Bagh; literally Four Gardens) where gardens are divided by canals. You'd find them in Humayun's Tomb, Taj Mahal, Shalimar Gardens (Srinagar) as well.
Also, the neighbourhood around Lodhi Road where you are staying is the New Delhi district (as you mentioned, there are 9 districts in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. It is so clean because its like the Washington DC (put together Pennsylvania Avenue, Beltway, National Mall etc,, you get New Delhi) of India. All ruling elite live there, including President, Vice President, Prime Minister, other Ministers, Members of Parliament, Military Generals, Supreme Court Judges etc.

    • @NamanSagar-d3o
      @NamanSagar-d3o 6 років тому +2

As well in Islam gardens and water channels are prominent features of the Heavens (called JANNAT). So this is mimickery of the same idea. Take Mahal in Agra is supposed to be an exact copy of JANNAT.

Old delhi is a very small part of delhi, foreigners love cover it mostly as it is a stark contrast to the western society. No one is interested in seeing mega malls , night clubs or restaurants in Delhi. Delhi metro subway system is world class and connects all major locations in New Delhi. Please Google it and plan a safe trip to India.

The Water canals were a feat of mughal architecture. The primary reason was to regulate heat. These canals with flowing water (on its own because of the design) helped lower the temeprature of the gardens in these tombs. The purpose of a canal versus a water body outside a mosque is different.

The pools and the high ceilings in all these places helped cross ventilation and kept the place cool in Indian summers. You forgot to add high ceilings when asking for use of pools.

The water channels are not only for a symbol of energy following but also keeping the premises cool in summer, if you noticed there was some fountains. In summer it helps to cool down the hot wind so those who are around can feel comfortable.

The puddle you saw in Jama Masjid is used for ablution before muslims go to pray; you would have noticed people praying there..it was a mosque. The place you visited today is a tomb, muslims don't pray there..like Taj Mahal. As you said it was built around a coffin, we can't worship a dead person, so we don't need ablution for that. so the pool and fountains you see in those tombs are just embellishments. Tombs, particularly where dead people reside, are constructed for the purpose of tourism, the dead not falling into oblivion (*chuckles ozymandias), and also people wishing for his/her redemption. Now you will find contradictions, that is because of the amalgamation between culture and religion. Hope I answered your question. :)
PS I absolutely adore your vlogs.

These buildings are build in mughal dynasty. They used to have charbaug ( four gardens around the monument). Charbaug were way different what you are watching. They were like forests. ( Try google search for charbaug). Lawn today we see is british modification of charbaug. As the y wanted to make these building british like.
