FANTASTIC!!! OH My God! The memories from childhood that you conjured up for me with that song - priceless. You made my day with this Calvin. I also loved the "Cow Bell" touch. Chef's Kiss
Interesting!…I’ve never heard this theme tune but know of the show. As a Brit I grew up with the British model of this show called Steptoe and Son, which was the inspiration for Sanford and Son. The themes couldn’t be as different! The Steptoe theme is called Old Ned….worth a listen to appreciate how different it is. I’ve just watched your Rockford files vid and that was magnificent. Although I’ve not heard this before it is a great catchy tune and I’ve enjoyed it and so I’ve just subscribed. Keep it up mate, fantastic work.
Thank you, Ryan! Yeah, the clav is from Spectrasonics Keyscape, with some added distortion and wah, of course. I've always considered this tune the gold standard of wah clav, so I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Great attempt -- and I am not a musician - BUT - I can easily tell something is not right about the "sound" - perhaps in the type of instruments - but there is a difference -- would be interested to know where the difference is coming in. Thanks for sharing!
You have good ears. For one thing, the low, groaning voice you hear at the beginning and the very end was originally played on a bass harmonica, which I don't have, so I played it on a regular chromatic and doubled it with a bari sax sample to give it some growl. Didn't fool you, though! Thanks for watching. 🙂
Don't shake your head to do a harmonica shake. You only need to do that if you're playing it in a rack while also playing a guitar. Hold your head still and use your hands to move the harmonica rapidly back and forth. A whole lot easier than rattling your brain loose.
Why does this not have over a million views???? This is smokin'!
What a kind thing to say! Thank you, and glad you enjoyed it.
Mister, you are the mostest! Unbelievably funky!
Calvin is just like the rest of us. He puts his pants on one leg at a time. Except after his pants are on he makes kickass videos.
🤣 Lee! How are you, man?
I keep on going to this one when I want a feel good song.
RIP Quincy Jones 2024
One of the BEST TV theme songs ever!! You have really captured it Calvin! And Will on the cowbell! 😂

One of my fav themes ever!
This is so funky, I can smell it through the speakers. Love it. I'm actually watching Sanford and son right now lol
Calvin, you are unbelievable. 😊
This is so cool!! 😎
Also fun fact…Redd Foxx’s real name was John Elroy Sanford. 😊
no way.... he really was Sanford.
And his father was Fred Sanford
His brother was Fred G. Sanford.
Excellent cover, taking us back to when TV shows had just the best openings. My man busted out the spoons, the finger-snaps and everything!
Freakin awesome!!! And shake your head if you want to! You obviously know what you’re doing. Skill level 10 !
Another Awesome performance! I didn't really realize how much is going on with this song until I see you performing all the parts!
Excellent cover...bravo.
FANTASTIC!!!
Outstanding!

Wow, the best remix theme on UA-cam so far. Others close but no cigar.

That is (and you are) amazing! I love that song too!

I wonder if Huey Lewis would appreciate how much harmonica there is throughout this tune? Excellent job my man!!!

🔥
OMG this is so good! WELL DONE!!!
Great cover! Man that clav sound is dead on! What synth is it? Assuming soft synth.
Thank you, Ryan! Yeah, the clav is from Spectrasonics Keyscape, with some added distortion and wah, of course. I've always considered this tune the gold standard of wah clav, so I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Would you perhaps consider doing the Barney Miller theme? Another funky theme song. 70s TV had so many shows with great ones.
I do love that one! It's on my list. Thanks for watching!
You're the Tops!
Ha, that's what they used to call my dad!
Yeah, this needs a million views.. sharing on my pathetic socials to try to do my part..
Awesome work sir!!!! Have you done Ironside?
What style music or genre was this? It and Rockford? Impressive and unique
Let's call it junkyard funk. Funkyard?
Well Quincy Jones wrote this so that should give you an idea:
Great attempt -- and I am not a musician - BUT - I can easily tell something is not right about the "sound" - perhaps in the type of instruments - but there is a difference -- would be interested to know where the difference is coming in. Thanks for sharing!

I hear some Sounds, that sound like the Rockford Files, Theme Song.. Would you do that One?? Thanks..
He’s done Rockford.
I think I Mandela Effected myself into thinking there was a vibraslap at the end.
2:50 😂
Hey can you do the Johnny Quest theme song?😂
Hey, I hadn't thought of getting into the cartoon world. There is some good stuff there. I love The Jetsons!
Bass on the original by Chuck Rainey.
You didn’t play the bum note Chuck played at the very end.
I looked this up and found the video of Rainey talking about it, but I still don't hear it. But what a beast!
I think 149 of the 1000 views is mine
This makes my day. So glad you're enjoying it!
@@calvin-bottomsI’ve enjoyed it 10 times more since then. You are truly a musician’s musician.

Good grief, is nothing sacred?
Don't know about "sacred", but this cover version is pretty righteous!
You should really just get good at one instrument. 😄
😊

So sorry. I meant nothing but the greatest respect.
