I feel you. I started getting a drinking problem. I've quit now but watching this show now over 30 years later again I didn't realise, as a child, the important messages in this show and how much of real life situations it covered.

This was a great clip/scene. I know I used to REALLY like the show. I was a major fan of the original cast, but for some reason, I don't remember most of these storylines. It was a LONG time ago. Anyway, the acting was REALLY good. The writing was REALLY good, and EVERYONE looked nice in the scene. It would be SUCH a blessing if WE would learn as a whole to celebrate, love, and appreciate one another with ALL of our differences and unique beauty that we ALL have to bring. I think it was both. She was snorting it in the bathroom before the fashion show and Cindy Walsh walked in on her. In another scene she had too much to drink and was passed out on the bed with an empty bottle, Kelly found her and tucked her into bed.

E.g., she stole Brenda's boyfriend Dylan, went steady with and then cheated on Dylan with Brenda's brother Brandon. In both cases she blamed the person she hurt, and made it out like it was their fault, when they retaliated. On that note how gross is it for Brandon to date Kelly, the girl who stole his sister Brenda's boyfriend? I will not go into any more commentary-- use your imagination-- how gross that sounds....😮
I remember when this show first came out and Kelly was the major mean girl. The weird nice moments in the first 2 were written in because so many fans of the series started sending in threats because she fit the part so well. They had to make her a bit human I guess.

I guess one way to look at it is Dylan and Kelly do get a lot of heat, but they also have a lot of instability with their parents and family life. Definitely not the parents Brenda and Brandon have. It makes sense that they would struggle with the alcoholism, eating disorders, and maybe not be the most reliable and trustworthy of friends and partners. That just sort of occurred to me seeing this just now.
For the brain and ambition and character as opposed to other three - two chosen solely for beauty and one due to nepotism. You can’t have a show full of models, it has to at least somewhat resemble reality to be watchable.
Something formulaic, perhaps? She was, like, the Screech of this series. Yet, she was nothing even close when you got to know her. And I'd be curious to find more on how her character was developed. Darren Star wove certain parallels in his many shows. I wouldn't be surprised if Andrea Zuckerman was some sort of early model for Miranda Hobbes, and Kelly Taylor for Samantha Jones. Just look to Season 4 on "90210" and most all of "SATC" episodes...

In real life Kelly would have been called obsessed and would have taken things even further by trying to kill Brenda 😂

In Season 5, it definitely comes across just so bizarre seeing Kelly coming and going to Casa Walsh. Her whiny, mopey attitude always intact.
