    Mick needs shampoo for his hair! Please help by donating and downloading his many other unreleased instrumentals on his bandcamp page. He makes nothing from youtube and only pennnies from mailorder. thesixmilliond...
    Before Mick Taylor quit the Stones at the end of 1974, he made another attempt to record an extended instrumental he called 'My solo waits for no one'. Jagger liked the melody, added lyrics, changed the title to 'Time waits for no one' and then gave writing credits to himself and Keith Richards. Not many people know this, but the famous mouth and lips logo for the Stones came about from Jagger's constant refusal to give song writing credit to Taylor. Taylor would inevitably see the album on release, then ask 'Hey, Mick, where's me song writin' credits?" Jagger would stick out his tongue at Taylor and laugh. "Wot? I can't hear you knockin'. Wot?" Keith would momentarily wake from his blood transfusion procedure and also laugh, then pass out again.
    Needless to say, Mick Taylor was not impressed. He recorded the 42 minute solo on his 4 track tascam and would sell tapes of it through mail order.
    In 2017, Mick talks for the first time about his mail order company.
    "I was fed up with Mick and Keith! Always stealing my ideas, never puttin' me on the credits. I had to sell my solos through the mail to get my royalties, proper! I even shortened this solo by 20 minutes compared to 'Can't you hear me nickin', which they also had refused to release, and that was still not good enough. At least with mail order, I sold enough cassettes to buy a really good afro wig, which I started to wear on the Stone's tours, just to piss off Mick and take attention away from him."
    When shown the afro picture that plays during this video, Mick was aghast. "Oy! What was I thinking? It's like I wanted to be Billy Preston."
    When asked what part of the massive solo was his favorite, Mick's face lights up. "You hear that part at 8:22? I really got in the zone. I remember I was thinking a lot about what I was going to have for lunch after I was done playing. Chips? Mash? Bubble and squeak? I got really emotional with the choices. My stomach was growling at the time and that also inspired me. Normally, the solo would have been over an hour, but I had to eat!"
    When asked if he could change anything about the instrumental, Mick replied:
    "Oh yeah. I should have smacked Nicky Hopkins. He was overplaying the piano, trying to show off! You can hear him, he's purposely playing the same piano arpeggio riff over and over again. Not very creative or imaginative. I would glare at him from time to time, but he didn't care. That was the last time I ever played with Nicky. Can't have two virtuosos in the same song."

    Took me about 15-20 seconds to realise but oh man, this was a cruel and very successful trawl. From a trolling point of view I fucking dig the amount of effort and style that went into it. Nobody really trolls with this kind of effort anymore,. it's all just mainly sarky 1 liners. It was worth it just for the pic of mick's awesome fro. That, and to watch sycophants do what they do best.....wetting themselves in public before engaging brain. Many, many top quality cringe moments here. You have my heartiest of congratulations.

      @@shatnershairpiece Nope. The afro is real. Well, not real like a black guy's afro is real...even though Taylor grandfather on his mom's side is a black from Zimbabwe. In fact, Taylor brought his poodle to the doggy salon where I worked and liked the results so much he asked if he could get a "two-fer". We agreed. So, it is his real hair, but not a natural afro. True story.

    Just saw this UA-cam - Saw Mick at the Magic Bag (small venue) in Ferndale MI after he had left the Stones. Had this pic with me that night for possible autograph but was told by his Roadie, Mick would be out after the show to meet his fans.
    but don't ask for autographs. Show was great and afterwards he came out to talk to fans and when he saw the pic - he said "man that was back in my Afro days", took it and signed and he was warm and cordial to all.

    The Mick Taylor Worshippers are a very prominent group on certain websites dealing with The Rolling Stones.They determine what is true or false.
    Their credo runs as follows:
    Before the guitarist took up full-time employment with the group, RS had been a bum band.
    With the advent of Mick Taylor RS were elevated to a high(er) plane.
    When he terminated his employment, RS became a bum band again.
    So this credo proves that The Rolling Stones have been a bum band for over 55 years and that it was for five years only that they played tolerably well, which fills the Mick Taylor Worshipper with intense delight.

    WOW, this is a classy work. The creation of the original "Time Waits For No One", in my humble opinion, was that occasion when God himself touched The Stones (the other such occasion definitely was the creation of "Goin' Home"). Once in a while I type the name of this song in the UA-cam search bar in case that something new appeared (maybe a rare live version?). And now I've just found that someone made a 42-minute version of the masterpiece. Well, what to say else. I've subscribed to your channel.

    Ron's song writing ability seemed to dry up to the outside world too. Only Rock n Roll was Ronnies..and Mick swapped it at Wick for I Can Feel The Fire...don't think he has bothered since rowing about Black Limousine on Tattoo You.

    Really? Is this for real? Nicky Hopkins was the one credited with playing the piano arpeggio at the end of the song and was interviewed about his contribution to 'Time Waits For No One'. I can't imagine that it was Billy Preston that was playing in this rendition of the song. I also can't imagine that Mick Taylor said "Can't have two virtuosos in the same song." Mick Taylor is a pretty humble guy and I find it hard to believe that he would refer to himself as a virtuoso (despite the fact that he was one himself). The veracity of the story above is questionable......

    I had never heard that story....sort of weird to do a 40 minute solo....not even Trane did that....it sounds pretty however it seems to go nowhere, seems like a loop...why is the mix so poor?....who played on the track?...Charlie kept time for 40 minutes?...Preston did that same arrpeggio for 40 minutes?...Wyman played for 40 minutes?.....and another old Keef blood transfusion reference?...something is strange here....at any rate, I can understand Taylor´s frustration with Jagger and Richards

    • @sugareewazoo633
      @sugareewazoo633 7 років тому

      I never heard that story either…..really makes Jagger & Richards seem like scandalous scummas. Maybe The Brian Jonestowm Massacre (killer band that my son turned me onto) were correct re their theory of Mick & Kieth murdering Brian Jones. But, I ask you Sean Hennessey: have you ever listened to the Grateful Dead? They used to do epic and interesting Dark Star jams that were 30+ & 40+ minutes, Eyes of the World 30+ minutes, Playin In The Band, The Eleven, He’s Gone just to name a few that were long monstrous jams that took on a life of their own (Live) so what’s the big deal re Charlie keeping time for 40 minutes or Bill Wyman playing for 40 minutes straight???? Not a big deal for top notch musicians.

    • @seanhennessey9869
      @seanhennessey9869 7 років тому +3

      first off, Brian Jonetown Massacre is a great name, in fact I went to see them in a small SF club back in the early 90s just because of their name...and yes, I know all about the Dead, I love them, I saw them many times and I hear what you are saying...but the Stones and Dead are 2 entirely different entities...and listening to this Taylor jam I am hearing repeated phrasings that sound looped...ie, Preston´s piano playing...it is that same arpeggio, no variation...I would never denigrate Charlie, but I have never heard him play more than 15 minutes at a time and those were on the old Jamming with Edward blues jams...in this Taylor jam he is more like a click track...also, as a kid I used to say that Keef may have whacked Brian and I still sort of believe so...I love the Stones but it is no secret how much flotsam and jetsom Mick and Keef have left in their wake...

    • @sugareewazoo633
      @sugareewazoo633 7 років тому

      Well stated and informative response that I totally concur with. I totally agree that the stones and Dead are 2 entirely different bands. Since first listening to this approx 7 days ago (and 10 times in it’s entirety) I am hearing a loop that isn’t done very well and I also must admit that Preston’s piano playing is not very creative nor imaginative.

    Con Taylor, la escuela Mayall se cruzo con los stones, fue entonces cuando aquel sonido de rockanroll blues marco un antes y después de los stones, luego, con la llegada de Ronnie, la banda se hizo pop rock, repetitiva y con solo un par de álbumes de altura, es por eso q todos coincidimos (también los mejores discos de los stones), que la época grande de Taylor es la cúspide stones.

A wonderful Stone his playing and pressence in the band during his time and after are up there with Best Rock and Roll Band in the world .. Blues backed completely . How ever addition of Ronnie Wood has kept them going and renewed their Presence .. Bands change the core is still there . Want one star band Try Beach Boys with Mike Love .. or linard skynard without the core that died in plane crash , Beach boys are not Beach Boys . Brian Wilson and his brothers were the Beach Boys .
