They didn't miss a thing when they designed this masterpiece. This car looks like it was built for a king or at least for a special few that could afford the best at that time. I am truly impressed with this car.
I'm so glad to see for the first time that the air ride suspension and the trunk open and close actually working as they should on the Brougham. This is the class of luxury with so many other details. The epitome of "Bells and Whistles" and I love it.
I rode in a 1959 Black Cadillac Limousine when my father died. The detail on the back of the seat of this 1958 White Eldorado, gave me a start, because I wasn't thinking of that black limo as I watched this video. The detail on the back of the seat was exactly the same as in the black limo in which I road to my father's funeral. I was nine years old. I had four siblings. And I remember my mother saying, "This will probably be the only time these kids will ever ride in a Cadillac." Thanks for the memories. When you get to be my age, memories are pretty much all you'll have. God Bless America.
@@billolsen4360 Actually the Mouton lamb wool carpeting and all leather interior were the only extra cost option at around $1500. Most cars had the option...I had one that did not.
Love... we used to have 2. Sold alot of parts for the Brougahm. We stock alot of parts. Yes. we are from Norway. We sold the last one to Sweden. Have som parts left..
Beautiful in white. When I first looked for a Brougham in the earlier 70's. I had to chose between a white one with white leather and white carpets...only 6 made as I later learned. I ended up with a black one slightly nicer and less miles and more amenities for slightly less money. Wish I had both today.....
I was at a lakeside restaurant in Austin some years ago and I spotted a cream-colored Brougham in the parking lot. The owner was near the car and saw that I recognized it. He was nice enough to let me look at everything. He had all of the amenities, including the notepad, pen, perfume atomizer, compact, lipstick holder, in the rear armrest, and the glasses, tissue dispenser, cigarette case and a perfume flask. it had white and black upholstery. The air ride operated perfectly. My mother had a 1958 Buick Roadmaster, white, with light blue upholstery. It had many of the same features, including the air suspension, only missing the Autronic Eye. Great car, too.
My boyfriend owns a 57 brougham. I believe # 147...., it's a survivor and just absolutely stunning. It's so fun cruising in it. All the features these had back then is incredible
Maharani maroon. I've seen pictures of the car or one of the same color,in ,I believe collectable automobile magazine with a dove gray interior.its spectacular.
@6:47 - people always miss the opportunity to speak to the design of the dash on these Eldorados. The design was meant to mirror the tail end design of the car. The green indicators are the fins and the gauges are the taillights

Beautiful car very elegant. But poor audio on the owners voice, could not hear what he was commenting on about the car. Perhaps you should consider a mic for the auto owner as well so his comments could be heard, thanks 😊
I love the 57 and 59 drop tops but this 58 is getting my attention. I especially like the suicide doors and all the chrome brightwork. Rear end looks great!! What I'm NOT a fan of are the seat covers. I would like either some shade of brown or white color-match. I have a white Hyundai with black interior I have a flashlight in my center console so I can see the interior.
I was offered one of these for $5000 back in the early eighties. I just couldn't deal with it at the time so I passed on it. Oh well! It was white as well.
If I'm not mistaken, the big bullet like protrusions on the front bumper are affectionately called, "Dagmars" ! A young actress named Virginia Ruth Egnor was paid a whopping $75 a week in the 1950s to play a "Dumb Blonde" personna on a TV show. She wore a low-cut blouse to draw attention to her rather large womanly chest endowments. Fan mail hit huge numbers, as she was quite the sensation at the time. The General Motors brands sported these large protrusions on Caddies, Buicks, Pontiacs and the Mercury brand did too. Just a bit of trivia that reflected the mindset of car enthusiast and such in the Golden Age of the fire breathing land yachts of post WWII years.
Eldorados usually had year newer fins on them... for instance '59 Eldorado got the upcoming smaller '60 tail fins instead of the giant, now beloved, '59 tail fins... '56 got '57 fins... '57 got slightly imbedded lower '58 look fins... apparently '58 Eldo didn't get the upcoming '59 giant fins...
When I was three years old in 1960 and my mom and dad bought a 1958 Cadillac convertible white with red interior from my uncle that car was an awesome car the only problem it had the hydraulic lifts and when the car was parked it lean to one side
This clearly illustrates that in 58 IF you had the dough, GM could build you a car that could rival or surpass any Rolls-Royces or Mercedes in quality, luxury and features, a time before bean counters took over an abandoned quality, cheapening everything for the sake of volume and cost cutting, a stark contrast to what GM produced in the 70's and later...
Keep in mind that Cadillac gave you the opportunity to buy a car with a custom-made Italian body on which a Cadillac dealer - or Fred down at the local gas station -- could perform all basic manitenance. And it was a beautiful car.
My Dad introduced me to a guy, a Dr. Page, who lived in Reading PA. He had one of these in 1958. I have wondered through all my adult life how a black man could have gotten one of these when you could have bought a pretty nice house for $13,000.

@@richardrollison2624 57 and 58 had the same style wheels as those on this white 58. Possibly the earliest of preproduction had the Sabre wheels. The earlier 57's had metal door panels instead of leather upholstered. The upper chrome strip on those cars was actually a polished stripe with interior color painted around it on the metal door panel. It was odd and not something I would have expected but I believe 50 to 100 cars had these.
In 1959 and 1960 Cadillac had Pinin Farina of Italy produce Broughams. Although they were interesting, they were nowhere as innovative as the previous years. Once completed the cars were flown back to Fleetwood for finishing touches in a 747 specially fitted for that chore.
