In simple Utilitarianism is to always chose majority over minority. Hence why the hedonic calculas which is how you work out pain and pleasure. If you used the train line example. There is 6 people on one side of the train, and 3 on the other. You don't know the 6 but you know the 3 as they're family. A Utilitarianism would save the 6 as its the majority. However you will still feel guilty so therefore suffer for not saving the 3. You could argue in saving the 3 you'll still feel guilty but not as much as if you let your family die. This makes this theory easy to catch out as it's subjective, and different for everyone. Hope this helps for anyone who needed it. I'm studying Philosophy, for the last 2 weeks. Still got 2 years left. I'm a fast learner. :3
