Thanks for your video! I am looking at making my own pieces for myself and to gift a set to a friend. So for me 8:45 is where I needed to tune in. Then again at 15:28. What finish did you apply to the pieces? How is it holding up? I am looking at using a bandana type cloth "board" that can be purchased and then making the "stones" myself. Lots of nifty ideas out in the world! Thanks again for your insight
Hi Leif! The pieces were coated in a polyeurathane finish and they're holding up really well. I'm glad the video was of some help! Enjoy playing the game :)
i would like to make something like this too! but i unfortunately have no tools so i guess ill have to make something simple @Paul Challis could you recommend me any guides or tools for a newbie?
They were turned on my metal lathe (the only one I had at the time), but didn't video it for some reason. It was quite a while ago, but wasn't anything special. Thanks for watching
@@beakz I’ve managed to wangle access to a mates wood lathe so hope to turn mine and the round stones next week. Btw I’ve also made a load of different sized cubes out of different wood and made some laminated cards so on my TAK board I can also play Santorini and Onitama. So with one setup you can play 3 of the best abstract strategy games around. Worth doing.
Paul, I am making your tak game and I was wondering if you could tell me the number of each of the playing pieces there are. Also, I noticed there are 2 tower like pieces which I don't recall seeing you make in any of the videos. Would love a response from you! Thanks
Hi Jeff! It's not my game, but a free game by Cheapass Games. You can find all the original details here: cheapass.com/free-games/tak/. I didn't film the towers, as these were on my metal lathe and a little dodgy :) All the best with your own version of the game! - Paul
It's hard to say as I was doing this in secret when I had time and it was a while ago. It took a couple of months of elapsed time, but couldn't really be more precise than that, sorry. Thanks for watching :)
Kilvin would've been proud.
You have a lovely shop there. I'd count myself lucky to have one as nice when I've grown up.
*Handles a thumbs up*
Beautifully done. She must have been very pleased.
Thanks Glenn :) Yes, she was very pleased with the board and it's a nice side piece to show off at the house ;)
Gorgeous! Very well done
Thank you Kristy!

Where is the cap stone being made? Just making a set myself but I’ve done it in a very different way. Your method might have been easier. Nice job.

Amazing work!! How long did this take you?

@@beakz Are there plans for this?
I love it! do you ever make them for sale? I've wanted to get a Tak board for a while now.
Hi John, thanks for the comment. This isn't something I'm looking to make for sale I'm afraid.
