I've seen a lot of designs for tables like these, and I've gotta say I think this one is my favorite! I really love how the toppers are dual purpose to also be the trays! I feel like it would also be easy enough to customize those trays to fit other games (I love ttrpg's like D&D, so one with room for a character sheet/laptop and a little dice tray would be perfect)

Who could possibly "thumbs down" this already (at all). It's got great graphics explaining what's about to be build, from all angles. Shows and explains the function. A realistic scene on why the project came to be. Very detailed explanation of all steps during the build. A great final result. And a dad cracking dad jokes and being a sore loser. It's got everything. Keep up the awesome work!
Great ideas here. Really great ideas. If I built it, I would make the legs longer so i could sit at (bad knees). Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. Also, thank you for being a family that not only spends time together but does non screen activities. The world needs more families like that.

This is an awesome project! I would love a dinner table sized version of this project, but a) I don't have the room for a workspace, b) the equipment for a workspace, and most importantly, c) the twenty plus years of experience with working with tools like that to actally pull it off. Doesn't mean I don't love watching videos like this, though!

I have been searching for the perfect coffee table for MONTHS now and I saw this video of your amazing gaming table and bought the plans! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

The deeper groove has me scared for future of the trays. My instincts want a spline added or tongue and groove end caps. Beautiful table. I love love love the scale. It’s such a perfect size.
Reminds me of a table my son made for his final school project, all the material was reclaimed from outdoor garden sets, an old dining table, some hard wood decking. He laminated the a top offset to 30 degrees, the CNC routered a square out of the centre, the made a backgammon and chess board glued face to face that would fit into the cut away. He designed and build a hidden lever that fit between two sliding draws to lift the centre section, therefore you could have the original laminate pattern, chess or backgammon or and additional piece that had glass designed to hold a photo. I love designs that make the most of the available space.

I've seen some of the pro tables that I've been designing a table to mimic, but the fact that the trays ARE the top boards is just one of those "why didn't I think of that??" moments that I hope you don't mind being stolen 👀
This was an inspiration to watch. As an aspiring woodworking with only access to pine, I love seeing the beautiful grain and color some other woods can make.

Love the table. This is the first coffee table sized one I have seen. I gotta say the build quality was great. Everything fit together perfectly, and the piston to get the first Leaf out so everything can fit so perfectly is an amazing idea. Drawers are great but I really Love making the leaves function as a gaming tray. That is the first I have seen of that kind. Makes sense with a coffee table sized board. But you didn't stop there, you added additional trays at the base so you can have 2 styles of player trays. I love it. Great design. I wish I could transfer this stuff to the table I am planning. Instead I may just have to build a coffee table after I finish the main table.
Most innovative design I've seen for a table like this. Making the slats into shelves is brilliant! Hogging out those dished areas with a forstner bit would help ease the wear on your router bit too.
Thanks. True, but I didn't want to risk leaving divots with the brad point on the forstner bit. Since the bit was hogging it out quite effectively I decided to just have at it. :)
I'm laughing at the drill outtake because I've never done that😉. I do have a question. What did you do to the plywood just before you put your mark on and why did you do it? Nice build, by the way.

Beautiful & functional project. The outtakes are hilarious as I have done all of these fopahs. Any woodworker that says they don't make mistakes doesn't work with wood.
