  • High above the urban sprawl of Orange and Riverside counties, the Santa Ana Mountains provide an oasis of wilderness that calls to the masses below. Unfortunately, the options for motorized use have dwindled over the years to a handful of trails. Silverado Canyon ( • Silverado Canyon (Mapl... ) is the most popular (and often only) trail in these mountains, and you'll have to come up that road to get to this one.Folks usually continue to Santiago Peak to take in the views, but if you're up for a bit more adventure, go left when others go right and take the road less traveled. North Main Divide Road is the gem of these mountains, with breathtaking views and just enough rough edges to keep the feint of heart away so there's room to breathe.
One of the stops along the trail, and once a destination point for many (including us this day) is Beek's Place; a once abandoned ruin with nearly 100 years of history. Unfortunately for us, the family has reclaimed and restored the property and (at least when we arrived) aren't welcoming to visitors. The trail continues on to the top of Sierra Peak, but we ran out of daylight. This video covers less than half of this trail, but we'll be back to cover it properly.
    As always,
    Have FUN...
    Be SAFE...
Leave it BETTER than you found it, and...
    HAPPY TRAILS!

Where does that trail end at? Looks like it starts by the playground on the maple springs trail

The trail goes all the way out to Sierra Peak, the northernmost peak of the Santa Ana Mountains. Unfortunately, due to numerous trail closures over the years, there are no longer any intersecting trails, so it is purely an out and back trail.
