Join me, Drax, as we explore today more of the creative mind of the independent artist called REN. Today my curiosity has led me to take a first time look at one of REN’s collaborations with an artist by the name of Sam Tompkins. This is a first-time reaction of Sam Tompkins. From what I gathered before the reaction, Ren and Sam are busking on the streets of Brighton UK, performing a mash up of “Earned It/Man’s World/Falling”. Ren was heading home from busking when he heard Sam just singing solo with no equipment, he invited Sam to join him one day and the rest is history. Never let James Brown be forgotten. , Mans World.
In 2018 Sam Tompkins posted a video of that first meeting and Busking. They both look like babies! Especially Sam...
But this is the message Sam wrote when he posted the video:
"5 years ago when I was 16 years old, I used to go busking in brighton to make myself a little bit of pocket money so I could do 16 year old shit. I couldn't play the guitar and didn't have an amp, but i'd put my hat down and just hope people would stop and give my voice a listen. one day, a young guy was walking past and must've heard something he liked cos he was watching me whilst I sung my heart out so intently. after I finished my song, he came over to me and said that he'd finished busking for the day, he had a guitar and an amp, and said if I wanted I could ffsuse them. I politely declined and said i couldn't play the guitar, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. he said that he would play for me and whatever money I made, I could keep all for myself. we played for an hour or so and it was amazing. people were actually stopping, and I can honestly say it was the first time I felt comfortable with singing to people. this was the very moment and the very first song me and that boy played together. that boy was Ren and I'm honestly welling up typing this, but he's my best friend and my brother. I've seen ren go through some of the toughest stuff l've ever seen anyone have to go through and he's inspired me the whole way. I cry almost every time I watch this video. it's such a special moment to have had captured and glad I can now share it with all of you."

About Ren
Welcome to the Renaissance! Ren is my favourite artist of all time. I say artist because he is a multifaceted diamond! From singing (all styles) to rapping (bars/flows/schemes for days), Bardcore (story telling) beatbox, makes his own beats, scatting and a multi instrumentalist (guitars, bass, drums, melodica and more). On top of that he is the most beautiful human being inside and out who has been through and continues to go through absolute hell.
He’s 33 from Anglesey, Wales originally but spent most his life in Brighton, England. He’s been living in Calgary, Canada all year receiving intense medical treatment for his brain damage and mast cell activation disorder amongst other things.
He started off making beats at 12 and selling CDs then moved on to busking. He was part of a band called Trick The Fox and was signed to Sony but they didn’t renew the contract after his health deteriorated. He then started The Big Push. They went on hiatus the end of last year after 5 years partly due to his move to Canada and also because the other members are also soloists and were moving around too.
