What’s worse is that these pieces aren’t being produced anymore, so there will be a point where many pieces will be either broken or in the hands of people who simply don’t want to sell them(similar to the green and turquoise droid arms from life on mars). That is, of course, unless the Bionicle fandom doesn’t pull a Polaroid and buy the rights to the part designs so that they can be reproduced. That or knock-off pieces run rampant.
some of the knock off part quality for bionicle parts are starting to go up plus they can also produce different part colors that haven’t been made yet if you buy direct and ask sometimes
eBay is NOT kind to bionicle fans, that’s for sure. Luckily, Bricklink has let me catch up on a lot of sets I missed out on for a bit cheaper. Still annoying how expensive the Mask of Life is, though!
I actually got a almost complete macku from a brick and minifigs lot, the only thing missing is the arms and the disc but hopefully I’ll at least get the arms
Yeah too bad buying on bricklink is giving lego money (again) who f@cked us over and that is overpriced as well only the missing part/ no box/no documents ones are cheap(er).
I don't know if this is a UK problem but the postage is possessed despicable, I need one sodding part for one of my sets and I see the price 89p cool cheap I can have my completed gail SIKE! That dam postage is £5 and the part isn't even big 😢
It's not just the issue of cost it's also the issue of durability We all know the horror of having pieces break over time and posing - compounded with 21 years of time the pieces may now be more brittle and fragile than ever It's only a matter of time
Loved Bionicle as a kid, but never stuck past the Mata Nui/Mask Of Light era. Recently got back into it to make UA-cam videos and introduce my nieces and nephews. I don't think I'm collecting anything past the core heroes/characters up to Mask Of Light because I value having all of my arms and legs too much 🤣
In 2023? has been that way all my fucking life!!!! one of the reasons motivating me to succeed in life is LEGIT to have the insane amount of money required for Bionicle and it's gonna get worse.
Blessed to have a decent bionicle collection 2 toa nuva, 1 toa vakama, 2 vahki, a couple vizorak , Turaga dume titan set (no mask :/) all 6 toa inika and 2 baraki. I missed out on alot but i'm happy to have what I currently have even if some parts are missing Just wish lego loved bionicle as much as we all did growing up.
I was able to get my hands on a Nuju Hordika (figure only) for $13 USD and a mostly complete, opened Barraki Ehlek for $22 this week. Ehlek was missing his left hand (so the squid launcher and claw were also missing), but it came with the instruction and the container. Pretty good finds.
I want to get a chance of having a Bionicle because I wasn't aware of it's existence when I was a kid I became a bionicle fan in 2022 because of the lore and because the designs are sooo coool
As a bionicle fan i hate how bionicle changed in many years it was first a a very cool sorts of lego and a great community to people selling the most h0rniest things and a degenerate community
i did not got bionicles (since here at local offers site theres no much of em, or only overpriced af), but i grabbed sweet deal of von nebula and witch doctor from hf, together with another 7 figs and lot of parts for like 24 with shipping. happy with this months catch ^^
No one can stop me from acquiring the Bonkles. The Bonkles are in my DNA. They are in my bloodstream. No force in the universe, neither malevolent or benign, can keep me parted from my Bonkles. I WILL join with them.
Most of the shit on ebay and what not are resellers artificially inflating prices buy buying cheap sets (not just at garage sells and what not bit also other online sellers) and relisting them.
2015 was a good time to buy and sell bionicles , i remember buying them at swapmeet in bulk so many pieces and later resell for basically retail vaule , last thing I sold on eBay was makuta overlord based on build never got released from gen 2 wave , I still have parts in bin to make another one , but so much time have passed I sold all my bionicles , that is last thing I basically own now , maybe one day I’ll get parts to rebuild him , I wonder how first one is doing with owner , from what I remember he lives past Malibu , I wonder if he still owns the one I built
I only buy Bionicle sets if they include the Instructions and the Canisters, as well as the full set. I like to SLOWLY build up my Bionicle collections and the longer it takes the more time I can still spend as that little kid who's "Gotta catch em all." After years of so badly wanting to get some Rahkshi but saving it, I have finally ordered two Rahkhshi complete with everything in their canisters for a reasonable price and they get here on Monday. SO excited to be getting back into collecting.
back in my guy we used to part out sets for cheap, like masks weren't too much and the sockets are plentiful it's gotten so out of hand with the pandemic and stuff getting people into new hobbies, now it costs at least $9 for ONE axonn axe half, crazy money!!!!
Bro some idiot sold me 4 complete bionicle sets for just 4,9 dollars I will keep them and then sell them later at some point for 100 dollars probably but I will wait a couple of years before selling
so my take on this is why G2 Bionicle failed and no other Bionicle revival would work, because the thing that made Bionicle work before was that's it was cheap. But now Lego would have to make it expensive thanks to the parts.
@@tiberiuscodius5828 I do have memories of the original stuff. I grew up with it. And the figures. I just unfortunatly was born a little too late to have more than 3 toa in my collection.
@@LaumasNero The mctorans are the ones being charged for that much, bricklink's weirdly got the same prices too for them. I got a feeling it might be some weird stuff involving some "value speculator" trend thing like how cloud city boba fett spiked in price from the already crazy scalped price of $100 to $2000 when the new lego star wars game came out a while back or the krana kal pack depowered nuva masks spiking from $8 each to $700 each when corona hit and some people on some site started acting like they were super rare lmao.
I saw someone 3d printing mctoran on etsy for like $15 each though they're a bit more fragile I got some and they're pretty nice although more rough and fragile. At least you can now get an accurate pakari Hafu instead of a mislabeled Taipu lmao.

3D printers will do the job, like the bamboo lab x1c. 👍
Are those turquoise arms worth anything ? I have those somewhere
3D printers should fix it

The only way is to make LEGO almost bankrupt again, so they would re-release bioscience to save em

Did ebay kind to anything?
YES. I had almost all the pieces to toa Mata Nui, but now I guess I’ll go screw myself!
which one? I still have the toa ignika set and glatorian mata nui set from when they were first in stores.
Say What now?
It sucks, way too complicated I don't understand it and it is not non-west friendly.
3D printing is the future for Bionicle.
People say we need to bring bionicle back when in reality it has never left.
A good story never dies because they will always be ones to remember it And more importantly there will always be people to create it
Check the price of the McToran if you want to get really angry

And this, friends, is why bricklink is just an all around better place to obtain bonkles.
Everyone keeps calling em bonkles, lol. I‘m new to the community, but the lego community are giga chads

my misplaced hope is that one day, Lego will just sell bulk pieces of discontinued stuff, or release official 3d models that we can 3d print with
Flea marrkets and garage sales have been my best souce of sets i couldnt get as a youngster. Some people have plastic gold in their cellar
A few years ago you could get all the original 2001 with packaging for like $120. It’s gone up an insane amount. Wish I would have bought them then 😭
Nah you dont know if it would turn up to be Beaney babies
A real life Vahi would come in handy…

i can't wait till bionicles are so rare that private military companies are formed for the sole purpose of finding and raiding bionicle lots
Not just Bionicle, but being a retro Lego collector in general.
Still haven't bought any, but Holy crap, toa mata lewa can go for about 200 dollars sealed
