Yes and the camera has improved a lot. We can now turn off the HDR option.
This is even more dangerous for our privacy and sensitive data.

You could try and select HDR photos, if you haven't already? Would be bigger files though

I disagree to your statement of not recommending the Nothing Phone (2) in 2024. It was recently on discount on Amazon AU official store at 848 AUD for the 12/256 GB variant. I think it offers a richer Android experience and a better $ value than the Google Pixel 8. The heat management in this phone is so nice and the Snapdragon chip overcomes the test of time by being so fluid.
My Nothing Phone (2) just got an update yesterday and it is currently on OS version 2.5.5, which has the Ultra XDR mode and RAM Booster features. The camera UI is not too bad IMO. It allows you to do take all kinds of photos (50MP mode, RAW etc.) which should be enough for 99% of users. I really enjoy its Glyph Timer feature. I used it for timing my pair programming session with my colleague, my afternoon nap and reminding me to get back to my car before I get a parking fine 😂
It just received a MASSIVE update with camera improvements along with a lot of new stuff. Such a perfect phone now! Btw I don't quite agree with your assessment and verdict. The Phone2 is NOT a proper flagship. Even at launch it was more of a budget flagship and so compare it with phones in its price range and you'll realise how its still the best option. Its now dropped to just $420 here in India. No other phone delivers a better overall experience than the Phone(2) in this price range. Especially now that the camera processing is greatly improved with their TruLens implementation.

Camera's are great, performance is top notch and battery is just there. The only thing I hate about Nothing is not the phone itself, but reviews like this one ranting useless comments.
At this point with NothingOS 2.5.5. they pretty much nailed it. Awesome buttery smooth device, I would recommend it to anyone anytime!

Just make sure the phone has a bright big display to showcase everything clearly and is good with battery.
Anybody can use a smartphone as long as they can open the phone and use basic features like calling someone or messaging. My grandfather is around 70 and he uses his smartphone regularly.
Using mine since launch day 1, absolutely loving it so far!
It's a good recommendation even in the 2024. Price is dropped. After the latest update 2.5.5, the camera and the processing is really good. Even at the launch, it's not a flagship. It is sort of a midrange flagship that always performs reliably.

Yesterday we got a huge update with the camera and other improvement
It fixed the Camera issue that you are facing
Would like a better, brighter display on the next one, hopefully 1440p too
I would also like them to allow us to customize the amount of volume steps, I constantly have to choose between the audio being too loud and too quiet
1440p is unnecessary for smartphones

I bought the nothing phone 2 at launch. Everything had been great and I've got no complaints.... Except for the camera. It's to be expected from the price but my note 20 ultra still does exceptionally better. Otherwise I'm super happy
I'm switching from ios after 4 years and Nothing is on the top of my list when it comes to android devices. Enjoyed ios while it was still good but the limited customizability and control over the device has gotten to me. Can't wait to be back on android. Going to binge your apps suggestions playlist again ha ha.

Still a great experience with my Nothing Phone(1) but i would choose a S23+ or S24+ over it even if Nothing OS 2 is amazing.

2.5.5 update made most of the errors disappear and made improvement in cameras
Phone (3) is pretty locked in by now, so potentially these suggestions would be addressed by Phone (4)
Though i would reccomend the Phone (2) after the recent update.
I almost got an np2 but ended up getting the pixel 7a only because i felt that with the 7a i was paying less for more rather than more for less with the np2 i got it on sale for 350 dollars at my local best buy and the 7a has a better size at 6.1 my experience with 6.7 is just too big im still rooting for nothing tho i love their idea with transparency ill wait and see what they do with np3

Nothing phone 2 user here and the phone has been nothing but amazing. Phone has gotten even better over time. Software is great, battery life is amazing, performance is still great and the camera has gotten even better. Can't wait to see what nothing does with the nothing 3

yes, you can probably install some minimalist launchers for easy access to important apps.

One friend of mine is about to sell me his Nothing Phone 2 for 580 usd. He bought it a month ago in the US. Here in Argentina a Nothing Phone 2, doesnt exist. There's only one for 1499 usd for sale. Im coming from a Samsung A52, so i guess it will be a nice upgrade.
I had screen burn issue when I bought..I raised a complaint within a week and got replaced...

I had Nothing Phone (1) and I didn't buy Nothing Phone (2) for few reasons, 1 haptics I can't live with average haptics , 2. Lack of HDR support in Netflix and Prime Video and third speakers are average.
I hope they fix these stuff with next phone.
I also own 1. In a few years, when I show up, I will buy one of the new versions
from what i've read the reason behind this is that netflix allows HDR only if their app is preinstalled and it's against the company's idea of reducing bloatware to miminum

Image retention is not the same thing as burn-in
Recently I switched from NP1 to Pixel 7, only because of a better camera. Overall, Pixel photo and video quality is on another level.
A shame you released this just before a big software drop (2.5.5), which addressed camera/processing issues etc. Who knew eh...
Disagree with statement about a non-premium feel, plus don't feel it should be compared to other 'premium' phones, as it's now AUD$999 for 12GB+256 (really a mid-range price).

Phone manufacturers "seem” to be listening to the requests of reviewers like yourself, of late, so hopefully your suggestions, which are fair and reasonable, will be addressed.
Even my 2022 Xiaomi 12x for $400 can film in 8k@24 so there's no excuse for such a low resolution nowadays
In canada the nothing phone 2 makes no sense compared to the oneplus 12. Theres 70 dollars difference. Theyre not even in the same league.
To me their biggest selling point is no bloatware. Nothing makes me more disgusted with a new phone than seeing facebook preinstalled and not able to be uninstalled. That is garbage.
