I acutally believe there is something wrong with the American Dream. The part where they tell you get to the middle class and start consuming and buy buy buy like crazy! Wealth and abundance are a great thing, the intentless consuming is making us unhappy.
The concept of the American Dream has morphed over time into something that goes way beyond how it started out. When I was growing up, the American Dream meant owning your own home, a home that was 1/3 the size of the average home built today. The average American woman owned fewer than 40 items of clothing. It's almost funny that consumerism was a concern even then; consumerism was nothing then compared to what it is now.
Ryan Nicodemus ... is that his real name? Nicodemus. Hm. Kind of a classic search for meaning 4:00 to me, when he says there is a gaping hole in his life all I hear is God-shaped hole. But seems Americans are over saturated now, people can't get past religious cliches wow like the one I just used smh. But imagine being resistant to science just because natural laws are so familiar they invite contempt. Or who knows? Maybe the pendulum is overdue to swing back from the love of rationalism back to a worship of superstition. Alternative facts and fake news are a slippery slope.
