Reuben is my second favorite character in the franchise behind Stitch and my favorite performance by Rob Paulsen. It sucks that the anime made him and Gantu back as Hamsterviel’s minions again.
Issac I really do think you need to do a video about the “Disney Multiverse” because after rewatching your Cinderella timeline video and how you said that the two Cinderella sequels are simply separate universes I think the same needs to be said about the rest of the Disney films as well considering all the plot holes, inconsistencies and retcons with different media (sequels, TV shows, novels, comics, video games remakes etc)
interesting thought,s I have enjoyed lilo and stitch for some time now it's pure entertainment without going over the edge thank,s for sharing the memorie,s of a interesting show💛🐿🙏
Reuben is my favorite of the experiments not only because we are both sandwich 🥪 lovers but also because he is voiced by Rob Paulsen (Dave Wittenberg in the Stitch anime dub while the Japanese voice was Kōji Ochiai)
Thank you for this in-depth look at not just Reuben's life, but also the timeline of the Lilo and Stitch series as a whole. It would be great if Disney+ would put series like this into an organized timeline- where it clearly shows which films fall in which order and before/after movies. Because with a franchise like this one, it gets a little muddled. The television series did a pretty good job of expanding on the depth of the original movie. There are a lot of hidden details and gems that give context and heart.
I always felt like his boosted intelligence gave him the choice as to whether he wanted to do things or not. What if he’s just a guy who only wants to make sandwiches 😂
Right when Captain Gantu was redeemed in Leroy and Stitch I couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the movie When he named Ruben as his galley officer my smile turned open mouth and brought up how much he loved his egg salad right there I just shook my head and said out loud “It’s a good thing they’re aliens because these guys are too pure for this world!” A wonderful bunch of characters perfectly put together
@BellaBeliever I’ll bet you did, over the course of 3 years we got to watch those 2 grow and even enjoyed them in the series even came to love them as characters, it’s like the writers knew we wanted them redeemed.
When it comes to the question, if you had one of any of the experiments from Lilo and Stitch as a pet/companion/partner who would it be and why, my answer nowadays would be Reuben. Sure when I was a kid I loved the idea of having Stitch as my best friend, since he had all that drive and energy and power. But more recently I realized that if I was put in a matching machine on what experiment I would get it would 100% be Reuben! We are both, pretty lazy but will stand up for what we believe in when we have to, love food (especially ones that can be put between two pieces of bread.), and both of us have so much more than meets the eye. I feel me and Reuben would balance each other out perfectly. I also ask this question. Disney when are you going to make a plushie for Reuben?! Seriously if Angel has a plushie than Reuben absolutely should too, seeing as they are both iconic characters from the Lilo and Stitch franchise.
In the german dub, the other experiments are referred to as "siblings" instead of cousins. Something I honestly like more since it makes it more personal. Furthermore, it makes sense. I mean they were all created by the same guy and therefore have the same "father". ^^
I enjoy cousins a lot more personally! For one it’s a phrase used by people in Hawaii to describe close friends and community members because they believe they are all one ohana. Plus, Jumba states in the first movie that Stitch is “the first of a new species” which also shows that the experiments aren’t that close genetically.
@@IsaacCarlson But wasn‘t each experiment its own species when putting it into technicality? Also I think Jamba said this because he couldn‘t tell them that there were 625 more of him. Or did you mean that?
Can you believe it!? Gantu had spent three years trying to fix his ship and not one time did he ask Reuben for help! Maybe if he had asked Reuben for help sooner he would've gotten off Earth a long time ago!
You're one of the happiest guys that I've heard of. It's nice to always smile, and find the good and hilarious parts of life to laugh about. Keep it up, buddy.
And speaking of Lilo & Stitch I have a couple of video ideas Lilo & Stitch translated (much like your Lion King translated video) The Crossovers with different shows explained (Kim Possible, American Dragon, Recess and The Proud Family)
I don't think Reuben was "programmed to be lazy" as much as he wasn't programmed with an innate destructive urge. Therefore, like many other sapient, sentient creatures capable of empathy(which we're shown with the pet roach for example), the purpose Jumba assigned him - to destroy everything he touches - rung hollow. He was never a "lazy coward", he just spent most of his life completely unmotivated until he encountered the one primal need he WAS programmed with - food - and could apply himself creatively within it, hence his obsession with sandwiches. It was the only thing he was allowed to create. I think the "I'm lost" moment Stitch went through is something Reuben went through very early in his existence, maybe even as early as his first thoughts(think the Rick and Morty butter-passing robot), and the abandonment just rubbed salt into that old wound that never healed - until the latter half of Leroy and Stitch. As for the dynamic between him and Gantu, I think they have a lot in common: they were both raised by fathers who saw them as nothing but failures, they're both "evil" out of necessity - you already covered how broken Gantu is, but Reuben literally didn't know better. All he was was a faulty weapon of mass destruction turned sidekick to a mad scientist and then to the henchman of the guy who funded said mad scientist. He mocked, heckled and undermined Gantu because that was their shared normal. He never fought the experiments or aided Hamsterviel because they neveer gave him a reason to. That is until Lilo came to him with a sandwich of her own and offered him literally any other path. The Grand Councilwoman considered all experiments rehabilitated because 625 never needed rehabilitation, he all but jumped at the chance to be good. In reality, he's been a subtler, thoroughly jaded version version of 262 all along.
I joke about this often. If Reuben were to be made into a baby by Babyfier, he would concern himself with ice cream sandwiches and sandwich cookies (á la Oreos) since peanut butter is a bit risky.
Ruben is one of the most funniest character in Lilo & Stitch franchise there's even a Funko Pop of Ruben from Lilo and Stitch the series plus I would love to see the full story of Lilo & Stitch how they met ,when Stitch got a glitch ,Lilo & Stitch travel to collect Stitch's cousin , stop hamsterviel and Leroy through two spin-off series of stitch and Ai, Stitch the anime series season 1 2 3 and two special anime movie including the Manga version of Lilo & Stitch anime manga series , Stitch the anime manga series and the new one Stitch and the samurai manga ,the novel book of Agents Stitch & the upcoming live-action movie of Lilo & Stitch ?
Okay not even a minute in and I have a big issue. 625 wasn’t the last failed experiment before 626, but rather he was Jumba’s second attempt at creating an experiment with all the powers of 626. Experiment 600 was his first attempt (named Woops) but was deemed a failure due to his clumsiness. 625 was his second attempt, but was a failure due to him being cowardly and lazy.
Okay honestly that is such a good point. You are totally right. There were a variety of "all in one" experiments like Stitch and I totally forgot to address Whoops. Great addition!
Reuben tem os mesmos poderes de Stich só tem preguiça de usá-los, muito pouco explorado, pois tem superforça e inteligência de supercomputador, deveriam ter aproveitado mais esse personagem
625 is Gantu’s older brother, I will not be convinced otherwise 😂 you’re gonna make me resurrect my Disney+ sub just so I can watch the tv show again 😂
@BellaBeliever maybe, but their relationship is that of “cocky younger sibling” and “older sib that set the bar too low but keeps the other sibling’s head from getting so big they don’t fit in the space ship any more” 🙄
Reuben is the best character in the series being a friend/dad to gantu, funny, helping lilo and stitch. Reuben is a goat
Literally and figuratively he will be a literal goat and eat anything as long as you put it between bread
Yes he is so happy you did a video on him cause he was one of my favorite chacters
Reuben is such a dude! He doesn’t want to hurt anybody, he just wants sandwiches
He is the pippin of Lilo and Stitch

@BellaBeliever Agreed.
As far as I’m concerned, that’s the animies only flaw
@@josethebeast8709 Well there’s also the fact that Angel became a spoiled diva who was sometimes abusive to Stitch.
And that’s why In my opinion, the franchise ended with Leroy and Stitch

Yeah it was also because jumba was hungry when programming Rueben.
I enjoyed this video about our favorite sandwich loving alien! 🥪
Here is a lilo and stitch theory i have been thinking about. Was stitch really supposed to be the last experiment jumba made?

He looks like a alien version of butters from South Park. I remember the character, but I cannot unsee it.
Isaac Carlson, can you do more How To Train Your Dragon videos please?

Cheeseburger or peanut butter and jelly!
