Such a beautiful performance. Gorgeous vocals, music and visuals. Enjoyed this very much! Kiri is gorgeous to look at as well! I just purchased the CD, can't wait to receive it! Thanks for posting.💘
I remember seeing this on PBS when I was still in high school....long before I started thinking about studying opera. All I knew of Handel was the Messiah from high school choir....and I had no idea who Dame Kiri was...but I remembered being mesmerized by this. I even remembered some of the text translations (in Piangero....the B section ....when I am dead my ghost will torment the tyrant day and night!). Thirteen years after I saw this on TV and when I was out of music school I got to see Dame Kiri live in recital and meet her backstage. She was very gracious...very down to earth...and what a talent she is.
I saw Dame Kiri many times in concert and recital. I also saw her in two different productions of the opera Vanessa in DC and LA, and Der Rosenkavalier in Cologne Germany. The last time I saw her was on her 70th birthday at Covent Garden. She is a lovely person and talkative if you ask about things other than singing or complementing her. She had just been to Iceland in 2003 and I asked how she enjoyed it and she told me all about the fishing and what she ate etc. I had met her a year before and also was able to talk to her. Over the years I saw her more than 30 times all over the world and she was always great.
And here we are,4 years after your original post, and still no sign of a DVD! I don't want to discourage you,but many DVD's of TV programmes are under copyright for 25 years.I have just bought some after this long waiting period.Of course this is in the UK,I don't know where you are.If it's the US I hope it might be more quickly available
Absolutely unsurpassed. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, you are number one.
I will never ever stop loving Kiri singing Haendel. She was perfect for that. It's such a pity she met Hogwood later in her career.
I have not known of the existence of this until now. What a fantastic treasure!
One of my favorites! Love Handel and Dame Kiri makes it a no-brainer

"V'adoro, pupille" at 16:15 is one of the most glorious songs written and so beautifully sung by Dame Kiri. Thank you for posting.

Very beautiful voice. I have the 70's film Don Giovanni on bluray. It's one of my favorite operas with Kiri in it. What is the aria at 6:42?
