Godzilla didn't kill Kong in Hong Kong because even when Kong was defeated, he was still willing to roar back and try to fight, Godzilla knew that he wouldn't be a risk anymore and actually respected the fact he was willing to keep fighting, thus leaving him to either die from his wounds or get up and run. 2. The axe blade is the back spike of a dead godzilla, that's why it can hold that radiation and why Godzilla is so attracted to it. I'm not entirely certain on the 2nd one but for memory that's what it was.
Actually, according to the novelization, Godzilla said he was going to kill Kong, and Kong roared back something like "Do it!" Godzilla respected this and so left him to die a peaceful death, as he knew Kong was already pretty much dead.

He tried the same with Kong but since Kong is also a potential king, he did the same roar back. Knowing Kong wasn't going to bow and his heart was giving out, Godzilla respected Kong's choice and chose to leave him instead of killing him himself.
If you're confused about Godzilla and Kong's interaction, try to look back and pay attention to their nods and gestures, cuz: 1. After Godzilla and Kong had a roaring banter, Godzilla gave Kong a nod and walked away. By that point Kong was beaten so there's no point in finishing the job because in the first place, Godzilla was merely disciplining Kong for getting out of his territory because Godzilla is wary about rogue Titans roaming around the country making a mess like the MUTOs. 2. By the end of the movie, Godzilla gestured to Kong again with a sideway nod telling Kong to drop the axe, and basically they just called it even. Also some details you might have missed: 1. Bernie clearly said they used Ghidorah's skull to use his telephatic ability to help bridge the mind of the pilot into Mechagodzilla. And you remember when they were testing it, it was only operable up to 40%. So when Mechagodzilla went rogue, it's not the energy making it sentient. It's Ghidorah finally taking control when Mechagodzilla is finally 100% operable. 2. The hint that it was another Titan inside MechaG was hinted throughout the movie, like the sound the eye ball was making is literally the one luring Godzilla. You remember how they kept playing with bioaccustics in King of The Monsters? How it plays out as their identification, method of communication, and that it was how the Titans could track/call one another across the globe? Well, Godzilla heard it and knew it was Ghidorah's bioaccustics, which is why he's being so aggresive. 3. Kong's axe was literally made out of bone as handle and Godzilla-kin dorsal spike as blade. That's why it could charge in the atomic breath/the Hollow Earth energy. It is also why you saw how the line up of the other axes along with the lit up blue energy created a mural of Godzilla. Which is also why the moment Kong triggered the axes to lit up, Godzilla could feel it then decided to blow an overcharged atomic breath all the way into Kong's location

(you gonna like this) Monster Zero is alive…well kinda, so when mechagodzilla went rouge and the pilot disconnected it wasn’t just Mecha Godzilla going ham randomly it was monster zero (the three headed dragon) controlling Mechagodzilla
I’m going to give some explanations. So, in the beginning of the movie, the reason why Kong was inside of a containment facility on Skull Island was because the storm that surrounded the island had basically consumed the rest of the island, which is Monarch had to move Kong. Now, something interesting is that the blade of the axe Kong was wielding is a spike from one of Godzilla’s ancestors, explaining the axe’s abilities. About the ending of the Hong Kong standoff: When Godzilla roared at Kong when he pinned Kong down, he was giving him an alpha roar. Kong, however, roared back, and Godzilla respected that Kong was still willing to fight and not back down, so he didn’t finish him. Now, about Mechagodzilla: something I feel the movie doesn’t get across very well is that there were remnants of King Ghidorah’s consciousness left in the skull, which was what took over Mechagodzilla towards the end of the film. I hope some of these explanations helped!

Be weird to have a skull that is effectively dormant able to wirelessly control something that's just computers, doubly so if said computers get hijacked.
It is said that godzilla only got his shit rocked by mechagodzilla because he already lost half of his strength fighting kong. If he was fully rested and not fatigued he would’ve handled mecha on his own

It was way overspecced and made the Mecha stronger (barring pre-loaded weapons like missiles) and faster in every way, and Ghidorah in control had far better movement and experience than if it was just Ren Serizawa moving more robotic (stiff essentially)
I believe for the mecha godzilla, the ghidora head still had some concious, and it was transferred into the mecha godzilla body when it reached full power. Thats why it was so focused on godzilla for revenge
Actually in the scene where godzilla had kong pinned down they didnt really say anything. But Godzilla gave him the alpha roar thinking he will understand to stay down. But kong just roared back in return, which godzilla hasnt really experienced much before. So as you saw he decided to not kill kong and nodded his head in respect and just decided to leave. Coz anyway he didn't see kong as his main opponent. The main opponent was mechagodzilla in whom godzilla sensed Ghidorah. So kong was just being more of an obstacle in his path if anything.
That wouldn’t be a reason he didn’t kill kong because ghidorah practically did that and more and Godzilla killed him. Also in the original script kong was supposed to die but the director knew his fans would cry about it so he changed the script

The ghidorah skull was Kevin's head ( left head ), name respectively chosen by the community but the official name is San. He was the calmest out of the three, but held a grudge against Godzilla. The axe is a plate from Godzilla's back, which is responsible for directing his atomic blast throughout his body. Which is why when Kong used it as a weapon whilst Godzilla was using his atomic breath, the atomic breath would be directed to the plate.

After delving into the lore it suggests that the Gidorah storm destroyed the protective shroud around Skull Island. In the process it destroyed the native humans that worshipped Kong leaving the little girl an orphan. Godzilla and Kong where separated by the shroud around Skull Island and Kongs existence only became apparent to Godzilla when they left.
The roar to roar after Kong and Godzilla's Hong Kong fight could also be interpreted as both of their alpha roars. In the beginning it was stated that Kong became too big, thus becoming an apex (Alpha) predator. Godzilla was probably on edge after the Ghidorah incident and the containment on Kong at Skull Island kept Kong hidden from Godzilla's senses. When Godzilla spared Kong he must have realized that Kong was an Alpha predator but not the threat he was sensing (MechaG).

There’s also 2 Shows that came out this year that also tie into the Monsterverse, there’s *Netflix’s Skull Island* Which is an animated sudo sequel series of sorts to Kong: Skull Island, then there’s *Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on Apple Tv* which is still going at the moment with weekly episodes, that takes place after Godzilla 2014 and also the past, it’s pretty damn good so far!

The Kong Containment facility was built AROUND Skull Island, I believe. Right under homeboy's nose. Also, Mecha G's been around since like 1974 in case you didn't know. But in this movie, you have King Ghidorah's skull (or neural energy or soul ig) possessing Mecha G, which is I think kind of a nod to the one time in an early Godzilla film where the big guy fought a Cyborg King Ghidorah.

My opinion or feeling is that Godzilla really respects Kong.. Or idk if it's a look of curiosity or acknowledgment, but they must have known of each others existence. We know Godzillas' true target that had him on the warpath and serendipitously, Gojira is probably lucky he did not kill Kong.
My question with this movie is how does godzilla whos barely bigger than kong, use his atomic breath to create a wider hole than like 5 kongs combined😂
Some more fun facts reposted!: This is actually the 2nd time Godzilla and Kong have fought each other, the first time was in 1963 movie and in that one Kong got powered up by a lightning storm (somehow) and proceeded to "win" by shoving a large tree down godzilla's throat while he tried to charge his atomic breath attack. This Version of mechagodzilla actually combines two different ideas of the older movies into one, which is both mechagodzilla and Mecha King Ghidorah , in this movie mechagodzilla is piloted by a human using King Ghidorah's skull (the Kevin one) as a psychic neural link (as thats how the the heads communicate to each other before) and when the new "power source" was integrated in cause a power surge and somehow awaken the personality of King Ghidorah and thru the neural link he was able to obtain all the information his human "pilot" had which is why mecha-G seem to be able to flawlessly use his new weapons/body and even used alot of human like fighting styles and the part where mecha-G was holding godzillas mouth open, it was a reference to godzilla doing the same to Ghidorah in the last movie, showing Mecha-G remembers his previous lost fight. Mecha King Ghirodah (ill use MKG for short), MKG was actually sent from the future by humanity who brought back King Ghidorah through cybernetic enhancements as to stop godzilla from being a "future" threat to humanity, it didnt work and godzilla won, which lead the "present day" humanity to reverse engineer the technology. MechaGodzilla is beyond wild in terms of movie history, the first version was actually in 1974 and made by aliens and disguised as the normal godzilla to attack cities/country in order to turn the humans and godzilla against each other so the aliens can conquer earth alot easier but this didnt work and godzilla defeats mechagodzilla. Then in 1993, Mechagodzilla returns as a Mark-2 version after the humans scavenged and reversed engineered MKG and it actually goes toe-to-toe with godzilla and also was given a "super form" which was dubbed "Super Mechagodzilla" (it was just the mark 2 version but with giant backpack cannon/airplane attached) but godzilla wins against it in the end, which leads to the final version (and my most favorite kaiju) is Mechagodzilla-3 or "Kiryu". Kiryu (translates as Machine Dragon) is special, so special it got its own designated name instead of being called Mechagodzilla, (the movies still use both names interchangeably) and it is built using the skeletal remains of the old original 1954 Godzilla that was killed with the "Oxygen Destroyer" (basically cybernetic necromancy) and it also used a bio supercomputer (which are a real thing) as it mainframe, which long story short, it allows a machine autonomous/instinctual movement. It has drill hands, hidden wristblades that can sent electrical shocks thru them, shoulder mounted-missile pods, Twin Maser Cannon, Railguns, wires (which can wrap and hold godzilla himself), can fly, and its own "breath" attack (which is two maser cannons that shoot yellow lightning that as strong as godzillas atomic breath) and before it was damaged, it had a "Absolute Zero Cannon" in its chest, which can instantly freeze and thus shatter anything at an atomic level...godzilla survived this at point blank range (this was under the ocean when it happened tho) and all it did was leave a gaping wound in godzilla's chest... it took over 2 years to repair Kiryu but they couldnt fix it "Absolute Zero Cannon" as they couldnt replace the synthetic diamond of 1.25 meters in diameter (a big ass diamond!), but now it uses "Triple Hyper Maser Cannons" (like its breath attack but a super version) in the chest... Now you would think that Kiryu is the perfect weapon against godzilla or any other Kaiju but nope its got its own problems and thats its power source can only last a few hours and depending if its flying or using certain weapons it can only last less than an hour, it can be recharged with a special plane but it takes time and it can be destroyed so its only ever used in the worst case emergencies, and also possessed by the literal spirit of the original Godzilla which can take over and cause the machine to go on a rampage and destroy the cities (this is resolved later by the pilot and Kiryu coming to some sort of bond/understanding)...sadly both godzillas meet their ends in "Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S." movie when mothras children incase godzilla in a silk cocoon and Kiryu uses wrapping wires around him and both of them plunge into the Japan Trench...which was to be end, but they made one last movie called "Godzilla Final Wars" (which i highly suggest watching) and that where the "main godzilla" story ends... But not in the comics! :)
I think it was inevitable that Godzilla was going to win for obvious reasons. Kong fought proudly and honorably but still lost to Godzilla in the end and ended up creating a truce after defeating Mecha Godzilla (Ghidorah's Conscious)
It was stated by the director, that Godzilla likely could’ve defeated Mechagodzilla had Godzilla not been winded by the three fights with kong; this doesn’t take away from the capabilities of Mechagodzilla because he is still a formidable foe.
When Godzilla had Kong pinned in their 3rd fight, He was telling Kong to bow down and accept Godzilla as the alpha. Kong however was telling Godzilla that he'll never bow to him and was daring Godzilla to kill him. Godzilla hasn't seen this in any other titan so he gave Kong the nod of respect and didn't kill him with the beam. Also towards the end where they interact again, Godzilla roared (the one that scared you) which was him basically calling Kong. When Kong stood up and roared he was basically saying I may be tired and I don't wanna do this again but if you wanna fight then we can go again. Godzilla basically ignored that and instead did a small head gesture to Kong saying "you saved my life today and have proved yourself as alpha and as an equal, drop the axe and we go our separate ways to our own kingdoms." Kong then drops it in response and godzilla roars once saying "thank you" and twice saying "farewell Kong".
There was a SUPER clear winner of this matchup, and it's obvious when you look at one simple thing: Godzilla turned his back to Kong 3 times in this movie and didn't look back once. You only do that if you know they aren't gonna try something again.
Between this movie and the new one coming next year, there are two more MonsterVerse entries: "Skull Island": A mature animated show on Netflix taking place in 1993 (20 years after the events of "Kong: Skull Island). "Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters": a currently ongoing show on Apple TV focused on some of the most important people in the Monarch organization, with a few glimpses at Godzilla (even giving a few nods to the 2014 movie) and introducing a few new monsters.
So many people miss the answer to why Godzilla attacks the Apex Facility at the start of the film. The camera literally pans to Mecha Godzillas future eye ball which was using the ORCA Tech from KOTM which was releasing an Alpha challenge frequency which drew Godzilla in to attack.

Something I love about these movies is that the Monsters, Titans, M.U.T.O.s, Kaijus, whatever you call them. They’re the main characters. Usually they’re the villains like in Shin or Minus One. Also in the 1v1 between Godzilla and Mecha, during the beam struggle you can see Godzilla is actually terrified. Nothings ever not only matched but actually surpassed his atomic breath before in this universe and that clearly freaked him out. Also I’d very much like to point out that Godzilla blasted a hole through to a separate dimension. The Hollow Earth isn’t just in the earth, but in an entirely different realm. Godzilla is literally at the level of Buu right now, screaming a hole between dimensions.
Man, these Monsterverse movies are so fun. Just badass big monster fun. No political bullshit. Just big blockbuster effects fun. I really enjoy all four of them so far. Godzilla Minus One was great as well. Beyond great. Bring on Godzilla and Kong The New Empire. I know it won't be the same kind of film as Godzilla Minus One and likely not as "good" but I'm all about seeing some more of that Bat-Godzilla and Robin Kong teamwork lol..

As someone who’s a die hard Godzilla fan since I was 5 this is what I would see in my head when watching the dudes in rubber suits duke it out in the 60s, 70s and 90s and early 2000s too
Basically, the entire movie, every time that device is activated, Godzilla hears King Ghidora screaming on loud-speaker, "Godzilla sucks and I can kick his ass with only one head! Come fuck around and find out, G-boy!" But then every time Godzilla shows up, he finds this JUVENILE monkey trying to make a name for himself by puffing up. Kong, having grown up in isolation on the island hasn't engaged in a real fight, so he gets his ass whooped by the King Of The Monsters. Godzilla only fights him till the point that Kong learns his place. Godzilla has no reason to kill him. Godzilla is technically the world's guardian or whatever.
I think you should watch the classic Godzilla films from other eras such as Heisei and Millennium. The Showa era is the most comedic and funny so I'm not sure what you would like, but the very first film 1954 is worth watching because it all started with it and it is very serious. I would recommend the Heisei Godzilla story.this history includes the films Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 1984, Godzilla vs. Biollante 1989, Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah 1991, Godzilla vs. Mothra 1992, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 1993, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla 1994, and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah 1995

So many people have been reacting to monsterverse (which I love) but I’m surprised that so many people loved king of the monsters because I remember hating it when I saw it in theatres. I’ll have to go back and give it another watch. I’m still on a high from watching Godzilla minus one and have been wanting to re watch these movies. This movie was so much fun though. I’m sad I never got to see G Vs. K in theatres though but I can’t remember why I didn’t go. Lock down probably
The reason why kong was in the isolation facility in the beginning was bcuz in the comics kong nearly died but won against another monster which is bat like but it could control storms similar to ghidora but on a smaller scale. The storm continued and eventually would kill kong.

If you're confused on who was controlling Mecha Godzilla at the movie, it's actually pretty interesting and cool. Basically, Ghidorah (Monster Zero) was controlling Mecha Godzilla. His consciousness went inside Mecha Godzilla after that energy from Hollow Earth was put in Mecha Godzilla

Mecha Godzilla had the skulls of king ghidorah in the machine and in the mech. So when the core energy was added, it had enough energy and power for king ghidorah to take over and control the mech. So ultimately, its Godzilla and Kong vs Ghidorah in Mecha-Godzilla's body.
There was a little comment dropped fairly early in the film (and mentioned in other places) that Ghidorah's movements around the world in King of the Monsters creates hurricanes, and one of those hurricanes has disrupted the perpetual storm around Skull Island. That, in turn, has destabilized the island; it's falling apart, so Kong would have to leave Skull Island eventually for his own survival. That's what they're worried about with Godzilla coming for Kong.

He tried the same with Kong but since Kong is also a potential king, he did the same roar back. Knowing Kong wasn't going to bow and his heart was giving out, Godzilla respected Kong's choice and chose to leave him instead of killing him himself.

If you're confused about Godzilla and Kong's interaction, try to look back and pay attention to their nods and gestures, cuz:
1. After Godzilla and Kong had a roaring banter, Godzilla gave Kong a nod and walked away. By that point Kong was beaten so there's no point in finishing the job because in the first place, Godzilla was merely disciplining Kong for getting out of his territory because Godzilla is wary about rogue Titans roaming around the country making a mess like the MUTOs.
2. By the end of the movie, Godzilla gestured to Kong again with a sideway nod telling Kong to drop the axe, and basically they just called it even.
Also some details you might have missed:
1. Bernie clearly said they used Ghidorah's skull to use his telephatic ability to help bridge the mind of the pilot into Mechagodzilla. And you remember when they were testing it, it was only operable up to 40%. So when Mechagodzilla went rogue, it's not the energy making it sentient. It's Ghidorah finally taking control when Mechagodzilla is finally 100% operable.
2. The hint that it was another Titan inside MechaG was hinted throughout the movie, like the sound the eye ball was making is literally the one luring Godzilla. You remember how they kept playing with bioaccustics in King of The Monsters? How it plays out as their identification, method of communication, and that it was how the Titans could track/call one another across the globe? Well, Godzilla heard it and knew it was Ghidorah's bioaccustics, which is why he's being so aggresive.
3. Kong's axe was literally made out of bone as handle and Godzilla-kin dorsal spike as blade. That's why it could charge in the atomic breath/the Hollow Earth energy. It is also why you saw how the line up of the other axes along with the lit up blue energy created a mural of Godzilla. Which is also why the moment Kong triggered the axes to lit up, Godzilla could feel it then decided to blow an overcharged atomic breath all the way into Kong's location

I’m going to give some explanations.
So, in the beginning of the movie, the reason why Kong was inside of a containment facility on Skull Island was because the storm that surrounded the island had basically consumed the rest of the island, which is Monarch had to move Kong.
Now, something interesting is that the blade of the axe Kong was wielding is a spike from one of Godzilla’s ancestors, explaining the axe’s abilities.
About the ending of the Hong Kong standoff: When Godzilla roared at Kong when he pinned Kong down, he was giving him an alpha roar. Kong, however, roared back, and Godzilla respected that Kong was still willing to fight and not back down, so he didn’t finish him.
Now, about Mechagodzilla: something I feel the movie doesn’t get across very well is that there were remnants of King Ghidorah’s consciousness left in the skull, which was what took over Mechagodzilla towards the end of the film.

It was way overspecced and made the Mecha stronger (barring pre-loaded weapons like missiles) and faster in every way, and Ghidorah in control had far better movement and experience than if it was just Ren Serizawa moving more robotic (stiff essentially)

Actually in the scene where godzilla had kong pinned down they didnt really say anything. But Godzilla gave him the alpha roar thinking he will understand to stay down. But kong just roared back in return, which godzilla hasnt really experienced much before. So as you saw he decided to not kill kong and nodded his head in respect and just decided to leave. Coz anyway he didn't see kong as his main opponent. The main opponent was mechagodzilla in whom godzilla sensed Ghidorah. So kong was just being more of an obstacle in his path if anything.
That wouldn’t be a reason he didn’t kill kong because ghidorah practically did that and more and Godzilla killed him. Also in the original script kong was supposed to die but the director knew his fans would cry about it so he changed the script

The ghidorah skull was Kevin's head ( left head ), name respectively chosen by the community but the official name is San. He was the calmest out of the three, but held a grudge against Godzilla.
The axe is a plate from Godzilla's back, which is responsible for directing his atomic blast throughout his body. Which is why when Kong used it as a weapon whilst Godzilla was using his atomic breath, the atomic breath would be directed to the plate.

After delving into the lore it suggests that the Gidorah storm destroyed the protective shroud around Skull Island. In the process it destroyed the native humans that worshipped Kong leaving the little girl an orphan. In the beginning it was stated that Kong became too big, thus becoming an apex (Alpha) predator. Godzilla was probably on edge after the Ghidorah incident and the containment on Kong at Skull Island kept Kong hidden from Godzilla's senses. When Godzilla spared Kong he must have realized that Kong was an Alpha predator but not the threat he was sensing (MechaG).

The Kong Containment facility was built AROUND Skull Island, I believe. Right under homeboy's nose. Also, Mecha G's been around since like 1974 in case you didn't know. But in this movie, you have King Ghidorah's skull (or neural energy or soul ig) possessing Mecha G, which is I think kind of a nod to the one time in an early Godzilla film where the big guy fought a Cyborg King Ghidorah.

Some more fun facts reposted!: This is actually the 2nd time Godzilla and Kong have fought each other, the first time was in 1963 movie and in that one Kong got powered up by a lightning storm (somehow) and proceeded to "win" by shoving a large tree down godzilla's throat while he tried to charge his atomic breath attack.
This Version of mechagodzilla actually combines two different ideas of the older movies into one, which is both mechagodzilla and Mecha King Ghidorah , in this movie mechagodzilla is piloted by a human using King Ghidorah's skull (the Kevin one) as a psychic neural link (as thats how the the heads communicate to each other before) and when the new "power source" was integrated in cause a power surge and somehow awaken the personality of King Ghidorah and thru the neural link he was able to obtain all the information his human "pilot" had which is why mecha-G seem to be able to flawlessly use his new weapons/body and even used alot of human like fighting styles and the part where mecha-G was holding godzillas mouth open, it was a reference to godzilla doing the same to Ghidorah in the last movie, showing Mecha-G remembers his previous lost fight.
Mecha King Ghirodah (ill use MKG for short), MKG was actually sent from the future by humanity who brought back King Ghidorah through cybernetic enhancements as to stop godzilla from being a "future" threat to humanity, it didnt work and godzilla won, which lead the "present day" humanity to reverse engineer the technology.
MechaGodzilla is beyond wild in terms of movie history, the first version was actually in 1974 and made by aliens and disguised as the normal godzilla to attack cities/country in order to turn the humans and godzilla against each other so the aliens can conquer earth alot easier but this didnt work and godzilla defeats mechagodzilla. Then in 1993, Mechagodzilla returns as a Mark-2 version after the humans scavenged and reversed engineered MKG and it actually goes toe-to-toe with godzilla and also was given a "super form" which was dubbed "Super Mechagodzilla" (it was just the mark 2 version but with giant backpack cannon/airplane attached) but godzilla wins against it in the end, which leads to the final version (and my most favorite kaiju) is Mechagodzilla-3 or "Kiryu".
Kiryu (translates as Machine Dragon) is special, so special it got its own designated name instead of being called Mechagodzilla, (the movies still use both names interchangeably) and it is built using the skeletal remains of the old original 1954 Godzilla that was killed with the "Oxygen Destroyer" (basically cybernetic necromancy) and it also used a bio supercomputer (which are a real thing) as it mainframe, which long story short, it allows a machine autonomous/instinctual movement.
It has drill hands, hidden wristblades that can sent electrical shocks thru them, shoulder mounted-missile pods, Twin Maser Cannon, Railguns, wires (which can wrap and hold godzilla himself), can fly, and its own "breath" attack (which is two maser cannons that shoot yellow lightning that as strong as godzillas atomic breath) and before it was damaged, it had a "Absolute Zero Cannon" in its chest, which can instantly freeze and thus shatter anything at an atomic level...godzilla survived this at point blank range (this was under the ocean when it happened tho) and all it did was leave a gaping wound in godzilla's chest... it took over 2 years to repair Kiryu but they couldnt fix it "Absolute Zero Cannon" as they couldnt replace the synthetic diamond of 1.25 meters in diameter (a big ass diamond!), but now it uses "Triple Hyper Maser Cannons" (like its breath attack but a super version) in the chest...
Now you would think that Kiryu is the perfect weapon against godzilla or any other Kaiju but nope its got its own problems and thats its power source can only last a few hours and depending if its flying or using certain weapons it can only last less than an hour, it can be recharged with a special plane but it takes time and it can be destroyed so its only ever used in the worst case emergencies, and also possessed by the literal spirit of the original Godzilla which can take over and cause the machine to go on a rampage and destroy the cities (this is resolved later by the pilot and Kiryu coming to some sort of bond/understanding)...sadly both godzillas meet their ends in "Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S." movie when mothras children incase godzilla in a silk cocoon and Kiryu uses wrapping wires around him and both of them plunge into the Japan Trench...which was to be end, but they made one last movie called "Godzilla Final Wars" (which i highly suggest watching) and that where the "main godzilla" story ends... But not in the comics! :)

I think it was inevitable that Godzilla was going to win for obvious reasons. Kong fought proudly and honorably but still lost to Godzilla in the end and ended up creating a truce after defeating Mecha Godzilla (Ghidorah's Conscious)
It was stated by the director, that Godzilla likely could’ve defeated Mechagodzilla had Godzilla not been winded by the three fights with kong; this doesn’t take away from the capabilities of Mechagodzilla because he is still a formidable foe.

When Godzilla had Kong pinned in their 3rd fight, He was telling Kong to bow down and accept Godzilla as the alpha. Kong however was telling Godzilla that he'll never bow to him and was daring Godzilla to kill him. Godzilla hasn't seen this in any other titan so he gave Kong the nod of respect and didn't kill him with the beam.
Also towards the end where they interact again, Godzilla roared (the one that scared you) which was him basically calling Kong. When Kong stood up and roared he was basically saying I may be tired and I don't wanna do this again but if you wanna fight then we can go again. Godzilla basically ignored that and instead did a small head gesture to Kong saying "you saved my life today and have proved yourself as alpha and as an equal, drop the axe and we go our separate ways to our own kingdoms." Kong then drops it in response and godzilla roars once saying "thank you" and twice saying "farewell Kong".

"Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters": a currently ongoing show on Apple TV focused on some of the most important people in the Monarch organization, with a few glimpses at Godzilla (even giving a few nods to the 2014 movie) and introducing a few new monsters.
So many people miss the answer to why Godzilla attacks the Apex Facility at the start of the film. The camera literally pans to Mecha Godzillas future eye ball which was using the ORCA Tech from KOTM which was releasing an Alpha challenge frequency which drew Godzilla in to attack.

Something I love about these movies is that the Monsters, Titans, M.U.T.O.s, Kaijus, whatever you call them. They’re the main characters. Usually they’re the villains like in Shin or Minus One. Also in the 1v1 between Godzilla and Mecha, during the beam struggle you can see Godzilla is actually terrified. Nothings ever not only matched but actually surpassed his atomic breath before in this universe and that clearly freaked him out.
Also I’d very much like to point out that Godzilla blasted a hole through to a separate dimension. The Hollow Earth isn’t just in the earth, but in an entirely different realm. Godzilla is literally at the level of Buu right now, screaming a hole between dimensions.
Man, these Monsterverse movies are so fun. Just badass big monster fun. No political bullshit. Just big blockbuster effects fun. I really enjoy all four of them so far. Godzilla Minus One was great as well. Beyond great. Bring on Godzilla and Kong The New Empire. I know it won't be the same kind of film as Godzilla Minus One and likely not as "good" but I'm all about seeing some more of that Bat-Godzilla and Robin Kong teamwork lol..

Kong, having grown up in isolation on the island hasn't engaged in a real fight, so he gets his ass whooped by the King Of The Monsters. Godzilla only fights him till the point that Kong learns his place. Godzilla has no reason to kill him. Godzilla is technically the world's guardian or whatever.

I think you should watch the classic Godzilla films from other eras such as Heisei and Millennium. The Showa era is the most comedic and funny so I'm not sure what you would like, but the very first film 1954 is worth watching because it all started with it and it is very serious. I would recommend the Heisei Godzilla story.this history includes the films Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 1984, Godzilla vs. Biollante 1989, Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah 1991, Godzilla vs. Mothra 1992, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 1993, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla 1994, and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah 1995

So many people have been reacting to monsterverse (which I love) but I’m surprised that so many people loved king of the monsters because I remember hating it when I saw it in theatres. I’ll have to go back and give it another watch. I’m still on a high from watching Godzilla minus one and have been wanting to re watch these movies.
This movie was so much fun though. I’m sad I never got to see G Vs. K in theatres though but I can’t remember why I didn’t go. Lock down probably

The reason why kong was in the isolation facility in the beginning was bcuz in the comics kong nearly died but won against another monster which is bat like but it could control storms similar to ghidora but on a smaller scale. The storm continued and eventually would kill kong.

Hi I just wanted to say that the head of ghidorah/Monster 0 was technically still alive because of mechagodzilla so the mech was controlled by monster 0's Head not the cristall from Hollow earth

If you're confused on who was controlling Mecha Godzilla at the movie, it's actually pretty interesting and cool. Basically, Ghidorah (Monster Zero) was controlling Mecha Godzilla. His consciousness went inside Mecha Godzilla after that energy from Hollow Earth was put in Mecha Godzilla

Mecha Godzilla had the skulls of king ghidorah in the machine and in the mech. So when the core energy was added, it had enough energy and power for king ghidorah to take over and control the mech. So ultimately, its Godzilla and Kong vs Ghidorah in Mecha-Godzilla's body.
There was a little comment dropped fairly early in the film (and mentioned in other places) that Ghidorah's movements around the world in King of the Monsters creates hurricanes, and one of those hurricanes has disrupted the perpetual storm around Skull Island. That, in turn, has destabilized the island; it's falling apart, so Kong would have to leave Skull Island eventually for his own survival. That's what they're worried about with Godzilla coming for Kong.
