I have a premium 5.0 with track package, but it’s nice to see that you took the time to make a video upgrading your 5.0 from a base cluster to a premium one! It’s starting to look like mine, but aesthetics wise haha. All you need are the recaro leather seats and the side rear OEM louvers and y’all have all the bell and whistles 😄

@Jacob R. Doty Thx man for the tutorial :). Do you know if it's possible to upgrade only the tipography (2013=>2014) of the speedometer ? Like a sheet of paper or something ? Or does it come all in one with the cluster ? (Sorry for my bad english... French guy here... x/ ). I'm like you and I never realized there was a difference between the 2013 & the 2014 but now that i saw both, I definitely prefer the 2014 lol

That cluster only comes on the 13/14 premium? I got my 13 GT (not a premium) a couple years ago it had the premium wheels and that cluster with track apps. Serious question I thought it was standard tech across the board.

How did you get IDS to work on the VCM tool to program the asbuilt data. The Ford dealership refused Todo it for me.

Actually, I've seen someone install a cluster from a 13 into an 05. It can be done for sure.

@@mitchellreece9820 Unfortunately, I don't know much about the install. I saw a video that Johnathan Harder did here on UA-cam with a guy who owned an 05-09 that had this gauge cluster in it.

I had mine done at a ford dealership they got the keys programmed and the car starts but there is NO MY COLOR OPTION? I also don't have track apps I didn't give them the VIN# of the premium car is that why?
Probably get this a ton but... what steering wheel is that :O I can only seem to find the wheel to a boss 302 w/ alcantara.
You can actaully buy a forscan tool and pay for software and do most of what is shown inb this video to my knowledge. $20 for obd2 scanner, and $10 for year of extended license

No, they need to be programmed and you need the vin of the premium mustang

You dont need a ford dealer to program it to car. I used a bluetooth obd dongle and Forscan program on laptop. I can change everything from disabling TPMS module to adding other stock features. This also will access the IPC module for the cluster programming and key programming.

Hey Jacob after watching your videos I decided to switch my 2014 base cluster with a 2014 premium cluster. Only problem is I don’t have any of the track apps and the mycolor option doesn’t show as well as non of my gauges (ex: oil, fuel ratio) are on there as well. Any idea on what I would need to do? You just get the button switch. Every 13/14 has the premium style wheel just not the same buttons. You’ll need to buy the buttons with the arrows

Just curious, why so people like leather recaros so much? Is it the comfort? Are they rare?
Talons I’m in Florida leather gets searing hot which is why I got the cloth. Big I’m assuming the leather is more durable. I’ve sat in both and the cloth hold you in better

I'm in Texas so the heat on the leather seats don't bother me. Usually I'm in the Mustang first thing morning or late afternoon. Leather recaros just look better in my opinion.

@@Alciar94APR have them change the as built data, you can find it on the motorcraft website, make an account and put in any premium vin number and it’ll give you the as built data, just find the set of numbers that go with the gauge cluster and it will work once they enter said numbers

I’m not sure why you had to reset your PCM back to stock tune. My 2013 Mustang has a ProCharger supercharger and I have a dyno tune. When I did the premium cluster swap, I used the software, FORScan, and a ELM 327 OBD2 connector, to sync the new cluster to my PCM and program my two keys. I didn’t have to reset back to stock, and reprogram the tune.
I also got lucky and didn’t even have to mess with the ABS’s As Built data to get the Track App to work.
I’m a ford tech so I work with IDS all the time on tuned cars. IDS just doesn’t like seeing aftermarket tunes so to adjust a lot of things we usually have the customers put it to stock so it can program
@@namenamerson7919 there's always an inherent and financial risk that something won't work, if you mod your vehicle, outside intended manufacture specifications. You have to accept the risks and meet and/or overcome the challenges you may/will face. If you don't then you shouldn't be modding your vehicle in the first place.
@@saevurr adding ford parts from higher trim packages isn’t hard we just gotta tell the pcm via our IDS to say yo look out for this now. And a lot of the time custom tunes don’t like talking. Actually had a customer come in asking for Cruze control (he got the buttons off Amazon) I installed and reprogrammed the pcm and boom worked just fine

@@matthewripley677 for 11-12 you'll need to run a wire up from the 3 buttons under the headlight knob. You'll also need an abs module preferably from a 14 gt500 if you want fully working track apps (a 13+ gt module may work. But I had issues when I tried a gt module).

My 14 gt(manual) gets about 160-170 max, I’m on e85 and a FF exhaust, I used to be on a 100 shot. How are you getting 250, damn I wish I got that mpg.

I have a 2012 Mustang GT and want to upgrade to the premium dash from a 2014 Mustang GT, I called (4) local Ford dealers in my area (Phoenix, AZ.) and got the same B.S. for all of them. I was told that I couldn't do because tampering or altering the car's mileage (33,500) would be unlawful and I should just order a new dash from Ford already programmed for $1,000.00 ( I can get a used unit for $285.00. I also called a Dyno shop and was told they didn't do factory clusters and I should contact a Ford dealership. I don't know what to do, I am nearly ready to "shit can" the whole idea. Any suggestions? I hope you read this and respond.

@pyotty - I know this is a 2 year old post, but just in case you still haven't done the swap, there are sellers on eBay that are offering premium clusters, and in their item detail, they list that they will pre-program the mileage on the cluster, before sending it to you. I bought mine for $370 (after taxes), and DMed the seller my Mustang's mileage. It's still be way cheaper than getting it from the dealer. Besides, you would have had to pay between $100-$150 for someone to program the mileage anyways.

Look on car-part.com I was able to get mine for $40, $15 for the elm327 to program it, and $40 for a new cover for it. In total $100 and it’s completely worth it
Better get rid of that service tag hanging from the rearview - people might get the wrong idea, LOL.
