    Hey all! Today marks the dawn of a new age - my Audio in Unreal series! Wow!~
    In this video, we go over the VERY basics of MetaSounds in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) and I show a few examples of the practical uses of MetaSounds.
    I hope you're looking forward to all the videos to come!

    Thank you so much for this! I’ve been meaning to start adding sounds into my environments for ages now, and this video has finally gotten me into experimenting with it. Can’t wait for my next portfolio flyby to actually have sounds rather than just a song or whatever!

    Totally with you on the procedural music part. Meta sounds as graph is extremely great, but for generating entire music tracks, its kind of the equivalent of metahumans, which is kinda useless too if you're a character artist or want to create youre own characters. Using DAW is still something else Meta Sounds can not replace, same way as the modeling tools are no replacement for Blender, but an incredibly powerful addition.

    I have always postponed the audio in my game and all i have is a background music. Looking for sound samples and all are always discouraging me. I have to say this video has inspired me to go and explore meta sounds and sample variation. thanks a lot for all your great videos !

    Solid stuff, thank you!!! I'm so much looking forward to using the new 5.1 Physics Control component (experimental). It's a whole new dimension in physical animation. There was also a great talk on 'The Gritty Reality of Real-Time Cloth and Rigid-Body Character Physics' at Unrealfest 22 that you probably enjoyed.

      I had an automatic physics based bullet-hit response system on UE4 that broke with new physics system in UE5. I hope this will allow me to rebuild that system

      @@Navhkrin Yes, I'm quite sure of this. In fact, it will look better. But it will take a little learning (a new approach) to set up right though.

    Hi, can you maybe tell me something about the performance? The problem is that my project is currently for mobile devices. I have been working on my project for a year and now I would like to integrate Metasound. Could there be any problems with shipping?

    i would love to know whats a common workflow to keep all the sounds organized. I understand how that works in wwise because you get a list of all the sounds in the game, and making a mix or averaging volumes , seems fairly more duable from there, but using the cue or meta sounds workflow, seems like everything is all over the place? you cant even have a good grasp of where sounds are coming from or what sounds are actually being used in the game? would love to know if there's a good way to do this.

    • @PrismaticaDev

      It’s very similar to dealing with Textures, Materials and Meshes. It’s different for everyone but I personally like to have everything in a folder where it’s relevant. For example, if there was dialogue audio that only happened with a particular blueprint I’d have them in the same folder. You can search entire folders by Type which can give you a big list of all the sounds in the project

    Well damn, we were fortunate enough to get a free wwise license but in the future it looks like we'll be able to use metasounds instead.
    Hopefully epic surpases blender too so I can stop using their weirdo skinwalker program

    How to play mp3?

    • @PrismaticaDev
      @PrismaticaDev  Рік тому

      As far as I'm aware you'll need to convert it to a WAV, or just try and get your hands on the WAV of whatever sound you're trying to use. I'm not sure why the engine can't convert it for you haha. The reason it needs to be a WAV is for the internal compression stuff that Unreal is using
