I love when I see things were people are the same, but different. Being an American, it sounds like he's saying "remainders" instead of "reminders". The good thing for me was that I understood every bit of this very useful video---even though as I was watching it I had to think about how certain words sounded a bit different, lol.
You can move a reminder from your inbox to any of your other lists. Just drag and drop on a Mac / iPad, or go into information and choose move and move it where you like.
Wow, I didn’t even realize that Reminders has been updated! It’s been so long since I last used it because I’m using another app for my to-do list, but this is a pretty good update! Thanks for walking us through this 😊
It is better, but sometimes when I try to set up a location based reminder and I try to select a contact it in the contact app it doesn’t find the contact. It’s several different contacts that i have addresses for in the contacts app. I’ve contacted Apple about it, but there still isn’t a fix.
At last someone who takes in consideration the native Apple Apps! Any tips, tutorial or other resource on how to create a productivity system by using only the Apple native Apps?
Carl Pullein great! As for Reminders, I’m curious on how to implement it in the whole productivity system. I’m a great fan of the calendar blocks, and I’m sorry Reminders doesn’t integrate with the Calendar.
The Routine idea is great, I called it Repeat Reminders 😂. I still think they should make it easier moving the tasks between the lists on iOS. It should be a 1-2 press function max. Something like swipe left or right? And I don’t like the way the indents do not appear in the smart lists. It’s a great update and I use it BUT it’s not perfect...yet.
I fear it will never be quite 'perfect'. Apple did this with Notes a couple of years ago. Got almost there, but then stopped. Tagging for me is essential in notes and we still do not have those yet.
Haven’t been able to use reminders since Catalina and iOS 13. iPhone SE, iPad 2017 and MacBook Pro 9,2. Doesn’t load them all, and times don’t even go off. Can’t find the issue. Apple senior advisors can’t help. Any ideas?
Really loving the update to reminders and how it can integrate with the alarm app for scheduled tasks. Probably won’t pull me away from Todoist yet but definitely going to play around with it and see what my workflow might be like using it.
Craig Federighi said that “with tasks, you can now associate to-dos with a top-level reminder”. Can you give an example of this please. How is this different than using the Things3 app and placing to-dos under a heading?
Hmmm when Craig Federghi said that he could have meant anything. My guess he was referring to the built in smart folders that collected flagged and due tasks at the top of your screen. I’ve not found anything that I would describe as being “top level” in Reminders. How is it different from Things 3? It’s free.
Your screen appears to be of a monitor and therefore I am assuming you are using web based reminders through your iCloud. When I do this I have NO left column as you do NOR do I have the top menus.
What if you made a video where you had Apple Reminders and Apple Notes open in split view then helped people understand using five to ten examples what is considered a checklist item versus a reminder?
Hi Carl- I really appreciate your instructions. This may be the stupid question of the year. But, I set up Reminders as you suggested on my MacBook. However, when I look at my iPad reminders, it still looks like the mess I set up before. Do the apps on MacBook and iPad talk to each other? How do I make them talk to each other? If I can’t, then they’re useless to me. Forget the stupid questions. I found that I didn’t have the iPad version looking to the cloud. Now that I do, I was offered to “merge,” which I did. All the new groups showed up. I simply deleted my old junk and I’m a happy camper. Perhaps you should remind your less sophisticated viewers to make sure reminders is included in the cloud. - Steven.
Hi Steven, not a stupid question. Firstly make sure your iPad is running iPad OS 13. If it is, then you may need to turn off iCloud sync, restart your iPad and then turn on iCloud sync again. That usually clears the iCloud block and they should start talking to each other.
@@clintsylvester383 Hi Clint, I did have a few sync issues shortly after I updated to iOS13, but after a few days and allowing all devices to update their notes it soon got back on track.
The new reminder app looks real good. Thanks for the introduction. It’s very easy and useful. With sunny greetings from Bavaria to the other side of the world 😉😂
Am I the only one that wants to get notifications when some completes/adds/edits a task in a shared list???? Man, such an important and basic feature... The app is basically useless without notifications. With proper notifications, reminders would be insane and would probably replace any to-do-list app in the app store. Shame.
They have created chaos. None of my reminders ever work , the times I said disappear, Separate lists are created for contacts at random, absolute rubbish

Hahahaha Apologies for the British accent.
@@Carl_Pullein there's no need to apologize, Sir. We're different in certain things, but still all the same. Wish more folks understood that.

You can move a reminder from your inbox to any of your other lists. Just drag and drop on a Mac / iPad, or go into information and choose move and move it where you like.
Finally feel like I can use Apple apps better. Thank you for a clear and concise video.
You're very welcome, Gail.
Fantastic
Carl in order to flag a task scroll down in the info section of a task and select flag
Yeah, I saw that after the video was published. Corrected the mistake in the next video though :-) Thanks for the heads up Mater.
Carl Pullein great video as always
Thank you so much, I just replace Todoist after your video! While I'll miss it, will love to use a native tool - and not paying the premium version!
Good luck, Yuri.

I just now learned about reminders very interesting

Ah, that’s one of the problems I find with Apple too. I have an email bug that’s been around for years. Still no fix.
Carl Pullein yes. Mail has been extremely buggy especially with iOS 13
At last someone who takes in consideration the native Apple Apps! Any tips, tutorial or other resource on how to create a productivity system by using only the Apple native Apps?
Coming very soon. I'm currently updating my Apple Productivity course. News on this will be out very soon.
Carl Pullein great!

It'd be great to integrate with the calendar.
Good point.
the flagging not showing up is because priority shows up as exclamation marks at the front of a task! flags are separate :)
Yes, I discovered that. Don’t really see the point of the priorities yet.

I am so glad that you are going to show how to do this on the IPad because that is what I have!
I'll make sure I do a good mix of Mac, iPhone and iPad views in future episodes, Carrie.
Carl Pullein Thanks, Carl! 😊
Why am i not allowed to create a new group from File in the reminders app? I can only create a new reminder or a new list. can someone help :)
Hi Sharon, just tap “edit” and on your iPhone you will see “new group” on the lower left of your screen

That's still my main use for Reminders. It's my shopping list. It now feels I am using a very powerful to-do list manager for a simple shopping list.
This his very appreciated! I have todoist before but I cut all for your more minimalist and you video is very in good time!!
You are welcome, Soukeyna. I am happy you like it.
When we create a reminder it can be automatically added to the Up Next Apple Calendar widget but it won’t be added in the Apple Calendar app itself?
That's correct, Patrick.

@@snh_lname Glad it worked, Steven. Enjoy :-)
EXCELLENT video tutorial.
Thank you, Peter. Glad you enjoyed it.
Have been unable to get Reminders to work, it is not reminding me more than once, so a daily reminder does not pop up after the first time.
How are you writing the reminder? It works for me when I write "every day at 6pm" for example.
You should also do a video on Apple notes had a big update as it now allows for unlimited subfolders among other things.
That will be added to my Apple Productivity course very soon.
I want to use Apple Notes, I cant get the iCloud to sync it correctly. Have you experienced any issues with all notes syncing?
Clint Sylvester nope seems to sync well for me just make sure your sync for iCloud is turned on between all devices and it’s the same account.

@@Carl_Pullein Thanks. I have allowed the time and I am still having issues. I live close to Apple Store, so I will check with them about this issue.
How do you sync the apple reminders to the apple calendar apps ?
Sadly, you cannot do that. You would need Fantastical 3 for that.
We can’t record video or add a video from Apple Photos but we can add a UA-cam video?
You can add a link to a UA-cam video.
I was wondering why didn't I find this channel before. Thank you Carl for sharing your knowledge.
I'm happy you did find me, Luis :-)
I transferred my old reminders, appointments etc. to new app. I can’t seem to delete reminders. Any ideas?
You can delete tasks manually and this now seems to be the same for completed tasks which is not good. :-(
Hourly reminder doesn’t work properly. It doesn’t remind hourly. Any fix please
Not, sure, Abdul. It works for me.
Do you like the bubble letters? Or would you rather have the type of font you see in the Apple Calendar app?
Ooh, I hadn't noticed the letters - I'll take a closer look.
Love this series! Didn’t realise how good Reminders is
It's rather surprised me too Krystyna.
Reminders just got good now.
Can I make groups in the App? I don’t See That Option on my iPhone
Hi Yasmine, yes you can. Just tap edit and you will see at the bottom left the option to create a group.
The new reminder app looks real good. Thanks for the introduction. It’s very easy and useful. With sunny greetings from Bavaria to the other side of the world 😉😂
Hi Frank, I agree with you there. Greetings from a sunny Korea :-)
Well I learned a lot. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
it took 1:39 for you to get to the real content
Seriously, Karie? Are you for real? 1 minute and thirty-nine seconds? Oh Please.
I wish Apple would add "When Emailing a Person"... as reminder option.
I agree, Ian. That would be nice.
You’re Brilliant 👍🏻. Thank you for sharing 👏
Thank you :-) So happy to hear you enjoyed the series.
No matter what I do, "New Group" remains grayed out - nonfunctional. This includes following the instructions in MAC's Help.
That is indeed strange. I tried it on all my devices and it works every time.
I found out what's wrong, you have to update your Reminders. The option is on top of all lists.
actually 2:10
The 'time' of a reminder cannot be set???? As soon as you move to a different reminder the time of the previous one disappears
I'm not sure what you mean. All my reminders come up at the same time every day. The time I set them to come up.
Great video Carl. A very useful way to introduce reminders to your community.
Thanks Phil. I know a lot of people don't necessarily want a full blown to-do list manager and Reminders is getting there.
I was playing with this earlier today. It’s a great update.
It is indeed, Luigi
Using my IPAD and Phone or the web, I do not have an area where I can select “file” to set up individual folders. ????
If you click on "edit" in the side menu (iPad) you get the option to create a new "Group" in the bottom left of the screen. Hope that helps.
Carl Pullein Got it...Thanks!
Very 😎! Thanks for sharing this info! Greets from Germany 🇩🇪
Glad you liked it Chris. And greetings from South Korea. 🇰🇷
OK, I have had Reminders for way too long to not have known this use of Siri with Reminders. Thanks for sharing. this is fabulous
Very happy to hear you found it, Linda. :-)
It’s not you way too long, It’s Apple’s tardy app revision that has taken years to realize.
Would you ever leave ToDoist for this new Reminders version Carl?
Not with Reminders. It a great app, but it's not powerful enough for me.

3rd icon….second row…I believe IS an inbox.
