I just got an R5C TODAY!!! ON MY OLDER 5DmkIV the 11-24mm was possibly my favourite lens so this new 10-20mm is beyond exciting 🤩 If you could make a video on how well it works with a cinema cameras like my R5C, the C70 and so on (especially the in lens Stabilisation) that would be super helpful for those of us who don’t have IBIS. Thank you.
I have used my 11-24 F4L for years to get me into places no other lens can do (e.g. capturing a reclining buddha head to toe inside a temple with an open sky of stars)...the 11-24 went everywhere but it was a monster that make lens selection for travel a challenge. I look forward to the combination of wider field and lighter weight...
Not sure I'd ever need 10mm since I had the 11 and never once used it at 11, I definitely don't need AF at 10mm and f4 because the DOF is as wide as a football field, but this is a pretty nice compact little architecture beast.
"The world's first autofocus zoom lens that can go as wide as 10mm" The EF 8-15mm was autofocus. That lens was a lot of fun to play with. Maybe the world's first rectilinear zoom lens with autofocus that can go as wide as 10mm.
The 8-15mm fisheye zooms (both Canon and Nikon have their own versions) don't cover a fullframe sensor at 8mm, they get the circular image with black borders at 8mm. They are a strange setup where 8mm covers APS-C while zooming to 15mm covers full-frame, so the zoom function is essentially just there to switch between full frame or APS-C coverage. So Canon's new 10-20 isn't just the widest rectilinear AF lens but also the widest AF lens that actually projects the whole frame.
@@fotografalexandernikolis Yup. It still goes to 8mm and close to 180 degrees though. When you used it handheld at 8mm you had to lean forward a bit so that your toes would not get in the shot. The new 10-20 mm goes to 130 degrees. I have one arriving next week.
I wonder if there will be an update to the Sigma 8-16mm. I was looking at that one, back in the day, and it was very sharp and wide, even though it was just APS-C
This lens would provide incredible underwater views. Most likely we did not mention underwater applications as there are no suitable housings and extensions for this lens yet. >Mark
nothing different here for video just pictures. As the other comment said R R8 R5C any of the cinema line anything with no IBIS is a win here though big time
I'm not sure anyone needs autofocus at 10mm (on my 9mm FF prime I just set it to 1m and never think about focus again) and I imagine the autocorrected distortion is probably pretty crazy, but 10-20mm F4 certainly makes a statement from an optical engineering perspective.
@rolis.j 10mm >APS-C< wide angle zooms have existed for ages. Maybe the big news about this lens should have made you understand that this lens is different from those in that it's a full frame lens.
@@fotografalexandernikolis It's partly ignorance, partly lack of nomenclature standardization. It would have been nice if the manufacturers just called APSC lenses as such.
Do you even realize how massive the front element would have been? Just wishing for things without being grounded in reality is something. I am a Nikon shooter but it doesn't matter the brand, there are some areas where you just can't go against physics without compromising.
its to pricy, for that kinda of money it shouldve been 1.8 atleast, sigma's 14mm is f1.8 with auto focus for about $1499 canon needs to breathe easy with their prices.

Some ppl left comments here like they own a Canon R camera hahaa
Happens every time. Seems people come to product videos that they don’t intend to purchase just to complain.
@@carteral-harlem3042they do?
I mean, i own a canon R… would love to purchase a 10-20, buut the price T.T
Gonna have to wait
This will be an awesome lens on a full frame in places like Venice, Lisbon, etc where you can only back up so far when photographing buildings.

Still going with the 15-35 2.8 but this would be an interesting lens to get a hold of
Seriously . . . when do you expect it to arrive for those placing pre-orders? I can't wait (but I'll have to).

Is it true that the control ring doesnt click?
looks great, too bad it's not a 2.8 though. Kind of eliminates it from using it for astro photography. And at f4 it's a steep price!

Awesome.. Well, at least RIP to the value of my 11-24 haha.
Is a good lense for underwater photography (with water housing)? If yes, why canon doesnt mention about it?

Sign me up, Go Canon!!
0:10 ...err, Canon's 8-15mm?
can it handle 1080p at 120fps?
That would be a spec for your camera body, not the lens.
Where can I get a 10x ND filter for this lens.
Filter fit on the back of the lens
Understood. Who sells 10x rear filters that fit this lens?@@lbeetech
Superbe lens ! But way too expensive for me. I'll stick with the fix focale length I have.
concise video.
I want it! and yes for that price 2.8 would be nice!
Game changer, after watching this clip I said the words "game changer" out loud.
I PREORDERED IT FROM YOU GUYS! SEND IT SOON PLEASE!!! :D
So it’s not compatible with the R8?
The lens is compatible with the Canon R8.
I’m getting one!
Can you please send me one for review?
For some reason, I read it as “ the wildest”…
Forgot to mention it costs one of your kidneys
1:19 i still see wobbling on edges.
That's a problem of the camera not the lens. If u use it on r8 or r u wont it

Is it possible to use ND filters in front of the lens? Thank You.
It is not possible. With the curved lens, an ND filter would not be able to screw on the front threads. You would need a back lens filter.
Thank you for your quick answer. But ist there a possibility to use a back lens filter, something like a plug-in unit. Thank you!

wow i want this lens
00:10 ... wrong .. I present to you: the Canon 8-15mm F/4 L EF lens 🤣 yes, it's a fisheye .. but it does AF and it goes wider than 10mm.
Had the same thought. Staring at my 8-15 right now.
@@aaronsharp1582 IKR ?? Same here.
But it's a fisheye. Very specialized and subject to changes in fashion. Different animal.
@@billmartin1663 all of that doesn't matter. It's still wider, is a zoom and has AF.
@@EmeraldAudiovisual The 8-15 doesn't cover full frame at 8mm does it?
Far below average snapshots and videos of buildings and flowers. Doesn't really tell us much. Glad we have Jared Polin to give us better samples.
Why y'all come out with these items wothiut capability to accommodate all orders!?!
im sorry but for that pice tag and still not a 2.0. or 2.8 is crazy a AF.. they trying to charge more but give less smh cap!
How is this compared to RF 15-35 😅
you guys use decimals with feet ? wake up America ! its 2024
Can't take filters? That's a no go.
There's a mount on the rear for filters.
Just get a mattbox with square filters, you can now put filters on any lens
and sony 10-20 not first?
that's an APSC lens

Any better than a smart phone at 0.5x? No.
the sensor on a full-frame camera is >4x the size of your iPhone
