  • Together with The LEGO Foundation, we are excited to present the webinar 'Thriving through Play: A mental health and psychosocial support classroom approach for educators in crisis-affected settings' with esteemed speakers Paul St John Frisoli, Rena Deitz, Oksana Roma and Ashley Nemiro, PhD.
The war in Ukraine has caused widespread death, destruction, and displacement - forcing millions of children and families to flee their homes in search of safety.
This has a devastating impact on the mental health and wellbeing of children. In times of crisis, teachers play a vital role in supporting the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of students.
The LEGO Foundation and the MHPSS Collaborative developed and conducted an online training on play-based mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for teacher training institutions in Ukraine between September 2022 and April 2023.
So far, over 3,000 preschool and primary school teachers in Ukraine have undertaken the training, 120 instructors have been trained to deliver the course and we are already exploring further translations of the material.
The discussion gives an overview of the project, the power of play and prioritizing wellbeing in the classroom in a crisis setting.
