I totally get Janeway’s thinking with the time travel thing. Sure people had a happy life and family on her ship, but they could have a family and be happy back in Federation space, too. If she succeeds, more crew would be alive to have a happy life and families, and the Borg wouldn’t be able to hurt as many people, either.
They still did, she created an alternate timeline. And if she didn't create an alternate timeline, like you said, there was no indication she was robbing people of anything they weren't already going to have. Naomi, Miral and Icheb all probably got to enjoy a better life as a result. Oh shit, Icheb. Maybe not him.
I like Janeway. I just didnt liked her Writers. Mostly. One time, i came close to hating her: When she killed Tuvix. That was crazy... But overall, Voyager was a good show and felt like 'more Star Trek', unlike all what came after.
Although she sacrificed lives going to the past, couldn’t you argue it was the greater good? She armed them with weapons and technology that would probably save countless lives in battles as well as defeating the borg.
that was a really happy whatsuploremasters. I like this. This is a good way for you to go. The high level of sarcasm and outright mocking of That accursed Janeway, Scourge of the Delta Quadrant! Rahhmi should be next in the series! Lorca would be a good second.
my theory on the future janeway is that the timeline she lived in was a doomed one, kinda like in yesterdays enterprise. she had to change it and the lives of her crew saved was gravy on the top of saving the federation. or perhaps the way she defeated the borg the first time was worse using tactics like picard contemplated in I Borg, genociding them. or the federation had taken borg technology and was using it nefariously. star fleet leaders are always doing bad shit our main chars have to correct.
Archer!!!!! I beg to differ. Janeway did not care about her people. At least not until she had been home and decided to go back and save them. My evidence of this is what happens with the Caretaker. If she cared for her crew she would have gotten them home then and there. She had no right to interfere with what was happening on the other side of the galaxy. No she cared more about a race of people she had just met.
She is in fact, my favorite captain, and these reasons are all on the list for why. Including her madness, it shows how much she cares for her flock. I've likened her to an angry mother goose when describing how protective she is of her crew
This is what really warmed me up to Janeway. Yes it may seem sexist but the whole "Mother" vibe really made me think while she is deeply flawed, her motives are from a good place of love for her crew. Almost to a point of self destruction.
@@SSingh-nr8qz as much as people like saying Voyager had hack writers, they treated their characters pretty dang well in what stories they made to test their cast. Showcasing Janeway's feminine traits as an asset to her inner strength without being overbearing is a writing skill NuTrek is only beggining to learn with Lower Decks.
I loved Janeway. Or rather, I loved Kate Mulgrew as Janeway, I loved the way she moved and her facial expressions, which I felt were much more nuanced than Picard or Sisko’s, I loved the way she spoke. Her actions though, her in universe character was..... very confusing at times
Mulgrew was fantastic but Janeway was all over the place as far as ethics and the way she made decisions. I don't think the writers figured out her character all that much in advance.
She actually created that timeline. In the other timeline, Seven died before they reached the Alpha Quadrant, so no Seven in Picard without Janeway's timetravel.
So you're saying that after living with the guilt for too long Janeway decided that the line had to be drawn there. That far, no further, and she would make them [Borg] pay for what they'd done.
I like Janeway. I just didnt liked her Writers. Mostly. One time, i came close to hating her: When she killed Tuvix. That was crazy... But overall, Voyager was a good show and felt like 'more Star Trek', unlike all what came after.
Captain Janeway is my captain. Love her. She had an edge of madness to her methods and she didn't always follow the rules but she was fearless and she did an extraordinary job getting her crew back home with next to no help from Starfleet and did so with a great balance of warmth and strength.
She's still One of the best captains and absolutely the best female leader in any sci-fi series. Strength, leadership, intelligence, all without sacrificing her ability to be emotionally compelling and even vulnerable at times. That's why Janeway is my captain.
5 reasons why Janeway is the best: 1. You'll be erased from time if you piss her off. 2. You'll be erased from time if you piss her off. 3. You'll be erased from time if you piss her off. 4. You'll be erased from time if you piss her off. 5. You'll be erased from time if you piss her off. Hail the Temporal Spider Queen.
I like Janeway. I just didnt liked her Writers. Mostly. One time, i came close to hating her: When she killed Tuvix. That was crazy... But overall, Voyager was a good show and felt like 'more Star Trek', unlike all what came after.
Time travel is inconsistent as hell in star trek and especially Voyager, so take this with a grain of salt but there is just as much likelihood that Janeway didn't erase a future as much as created a parallel timeline, just like the JJverse. Doesnt excuse her other flaws but does possibly negate the timeline genocide
Janeway was a character I hated at first but by the end of the series really loved. I feel the change really happened from the show trying to be a "feminist project" and trying to make you respect her by default, to later seasons she really made mistakes, and grew as a character. You really got a sense of her as a PERSON, and her motives. By the end of the series she became Sarah Connor from Terminator 2.
In the Star Trek EU her actions led to a full on, no holds bar invasion of the Alpha and Beta quadrants by the Borg, killing trillions and making men like Picard consider consider using a weapon that would destroy the entire galaxy, with a flotilla of any spaceworthy ship leaving for another galaxy to rebuild civilization. And she was a good friend.
Do I have complaints about Voyager: yes. Is Voyager my favorite Trek: yes! Janeway may have gone Insaneway in Endgame but you know what? It fit her freaking character! Trek is not great about fallout from decisions and traumatic events, Voyager is especially guilty of this, but Voyager did get one thing right and it was the trauma bond the main characters shared. If you trauma bond with someone that’s game over and you may as well get married cause there is no else in the galaxy that will connect with you like they do. So yes, Janeway so would be willing to erase the timeline and the surviving crew would all be behind her too.
Well that ended on a creepy note. But End Game should have always been about the Borg invading the Alpha Quadrant, and while Starfleet won in the end, they left it so badly devastated that the Federation, Romulans and Klingons were all but destroyed, and it was only Voyager's return (still 30 years latter) which allowed them to win. However they were now seeing a second wave and its this which forces Janeway to go back in time. Not only does it tie in the Borg, but still allows almost the exact same plot emotional story line and an even bigger payout.
I mean, she maybe is (or not) the best captain but I am pretty sure she is the most dangerous captain. Pity the poor fools who would attempt to stop her.
how much of a return did Voyager have on Starfleet in the proceeding years? how much can we take from STO as events that would of happened with or with out Voyagers return? Trans warp? weapons for the borg? we know from the scence in the future that starfleet is still there n looks healty? but we only really see earth and a couple of Klingon ships, whats the chances of a whats If voyager didnt return ep? do we ahve enough info beta or alpha?
The change of pace was spot on. It went from wacky infomercial to somber and surreal when it came to her crew. I don't like how the Voyager was unnecessary stranded in the Delta Quadrant but I do give her credit for getting them home.
False Prophits. Season 4. They could have been home. She should have been blasted out of an airlock at the end of that episode. Do an episode on that. VOY was my favorite back in the 90s, and during a re-watch now I'm remembering what a bad ass Janeway was. But she made so many terrible decisions.
Probably all the hero known Captains right? I figured Janeway was his least favorite an would probably be last done. Unless, she's being done with a crap ton of sarcasm here My vote dunno bout yall is Sisko I think
If you take out the time travel finally, Janeway may not have been that bad. Poor writing. They could have found a way to do it without the time travel: Janeway finds abandoned, damage borg cube from civil war with advanced weaponry they innovate to use to infect queen. Cube also has maps about the jump gate to get them home. Same story without future Janeway or Time Travel. @Lore, you should do a video about how all of the time travel crap ruins Star Trek. Most of what I hate in Star Trek revolved around Time Travel episodes. The other episodes are brilliant.
Dude. Why you sound so overly happy? Is it because someone at cbs tried to buy you to say that disco or prickard was good? If so then this makes perfect sense.
Its always been hard to judge which captain was best. Janway and Sisko are both amazing. I think each Captain is best in certain situations. I want Sisko to be my captain in a war, and I want Picard to be my captain during peaceful exploration, but when things get desperate I want Janeway to be my captain. I think the only scifi leaders I could see being better in a desperate situation with no assistance would be Admiral Adama of BSG.
