I love watching this. He has had a rough life growing up and out of that came real beauty and talent. It's cool to see how he has grown over time. I want to hear the commentary on this. I wish there was more old footage like this out there we could see.
I'm a big Social D. fan and I'm 2mos. older than Mike Ness. If I could go back to being 20 years old----I'd spike the crap outta my hair ,put eye stuff on with a spray can, wear tire chains around my neck and pray to God for the gift of life. Getting old sucks. Soon I'm gonna dress up like a punk fool and go to the Santa Monica Civic to see Social D. on Dec. 16,2011, and fight my way to center stage if I can. I'll be the one screaming out 'mommy's little monster!'...Live it while you can.
aww he was so young!!! my mom dated him for awhile a few years before i was born but she was with alot of punkers back on the oc punk scene but this is such great footage of him!!
Why is that so funny, groupies are no big deal, your mom was a Barry Manilow groupie, and your daddy Barry split, guess that’s why you dig elevator music
Wow, I bet she had a ton of good stories about the scene back then,! Damn Orange County in the early 80’s: Agent Orange The Adolescents who’s epic guitar player:(tho Rick Agnew was in death rock pioneers Christian Death another OC band. The Adolescents “Kids of the Black Hole” was written about this scene.
@@downallyourstreets agent orange living in darkness was great & the beach Blvd l.p w/ rik lrik, the crowd & simpletones, & the best were the surf punks!

The show had The Beatnigs , Sonic Youth and the Social D tour punks , straight edge, skins all went to these shows and they were excellent! Don't complain kid. If it wasn't for Social D you wouldn't have your "Green Day", and without your "Green Day" you wouldn't have all those shitty emo bands that you probably loooove. seriously dude. chill out
If i didn't know this was Mike Ness in 1982, I would've thought this was just a nu metal fan talking about how he prepares for going to a show. Hittin up dat live static x
I'm a sixteen year old girl and I spike my hair (when I have it short enough, about every five months) and the tons of eyeliner, nail polish, chains. I don't want to look like I've been crying, I just look like I can make others cry. Mike Ness is the hottest badass I know of. He's as old as my parents, but I still think he's hot.
@MCJ62 he was like 18-19 when he did this. chill. if you every get a hold of the actual another state of mind dvd you should watch the mike ness commentary.
hes crazy man, i went to the mall around christmas time and he was on the top level of the mall and he was gunna throw a cinnamon bun at santa haha. badass man, not to sure what hes like now tho. my sister said she saw him a couple weeks ago but dont know. i only met him once and hes chill
Punk Rock is rock and roll. This one guy does not define the punk scene. Look up bands like The Exploited, CH3, Agent Orange, The Clash, Black Flag, Bad Religion. There are plenty of good punk bands. You're just listening to the wrong ones.
Agent Orange and Bad Religion makes noise? lol Agent Orange was the first band to mix surf rock with punk. Bad Religion was the first punk band to have a singer that actually sings, aside from the Ramones. You must have not been listening to the right songs. As for CH3, Black Flag and The Exploited, well, they are a preferred taste. I don't expect everyone to like them, by I was just using them as an example of bands that do not have a sympathetic look.
He talks about fashion like if he wants people to have a sympathetic view towards him...punk rock is not fashion, its a state of mind, an idea, not about getting up everymorning so u can draw attention..punk rocks about not giving a shit about what people think...hes practically saying to the world, "look at me, ive suffered so much, and i want to show it off to people"..no body fukn cares....
Its the same to this day. Mike's lyrics and the way he carries himself is to get the attention of others. Even Johnny Twobags. Its about how much of a bad a life he's had. Thats his thing. Its a blues thing, even when he was a punk rocker. Who knows, maybe it gets him laid more often.
Mike Ness looked sweet with that. i think that the people that made fun of him are just jealous because they cant pull of his look like he can.

Why yes!

He's so gorgeous in this clip, I laugh but I love it.
I really miss being able to dye my hair like this and have that damn hairline. Damn.
He was really ahead of his time.

Mike Ness made guyliner cool
It's started out well but the end result was shit...looks a lot better in the 90s
Mike ness has worked with so many legends so dressing like that payed off.
One of the first punk gigs I went to was Social D, I think it was 1982.
Damn, lucky bastard, I would have loved to see them in 82!
and with this.. now he got a lot of money..
Young Man, You look bad ass!!!
I never liked the makeup, but loved the music
Yeah I don’t get it either.
Night Flight was a TV show before MTV. they filmed the whole tour
I think it was with Minor Threat
Also, The Exploited are basically a metal band now, but they do have plenty of musicianship. They are not an easy band to cover.

The explOited are awful
1982
The Punk element is what makes them great in my book. But hey, to each his own.
What about Dick Dale, Link Wray and The Ventures?
The legends of surf music, #1 composer being Brian Wilson.
Wow 82 , I was born that year
Same
I've always wondered what the hell he puts in his hair besides AquaNet...
I wonder the same thing
