I have watched reviews about headphones for about half a year now and i still haven't chosed what i should buy :D
Neil Ahuja how else can someone without their own opinion find out if their headphones are good. Just by wearing them and, like, listening to them and stuff? Cmon. That's hard. Now I'm off to watch a review on the burger I just ate. I want to know if it tastes good or not. I'd hate to buy another one if someone else says it's not good.

For anyone inquiring me about these headphones. If you want a whole lot of bass that sacrifices the overall clarity of the sound signature, go with the XB950BT's. If you want a very well rounded pair of headphones, get the Sony WH-XB900N's, the highs are great, the mids are nice and warm, and the bass is smooth. Overall, for a hundred bucks, the XB950BT's are a solid pair of headphones. I'd seriously save up 150 more dollars and get the WH-XB900N's because they're just so much more better than this headset. And yes, both headsets great pretty dang loud.
Also, I'm still very into audio. I've gotten more into the car audio side of audiophile setups, just installed some Pioneer TS-Z65CH Speakers in my car along with 2 Poweracoustik BAMF 12's. The whole system is running off of 2 Rockville RXM-T2 amps, so it's pushing about 1200 watts to the subs and about 600 for all 4 sets of component speakers I have in the car. It sucks that car audio isn't always an option for people, so the closest thing you can get to being totally submerged in your music is headphones. I seriously recommend the WH-XB900N's for anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive pair of damn near audiophile headphones.

These put Beats to shame. Just, don't even consider any other headphones compared to these. I got the wired version for $93 and I feel like every single penny is worth it! If you want base, even the wired ones bring a living crap tone of it. And the rest of the audio is on point, nothing sounds scratchy or annoying. Very easy to listen to and to get into the beat! 5/5 on a review, would definitely recommend it!
5 years after watching this video and purchasing I still rock my 950bt's at this very moment. Still sound great and no issues other than wear on the earcup leather. Can buy replacements for 15 on ebay though. I've loved these for years.

If you're curious how these work while working out, I'm here to tell you these are amazing. The controls on the earcups are super handy, you'll be able to fast forward songs just by sliding and holding the switch, the sound quality is top notch and very loud, and they block out all exterior noise. They're also very sweat and water resistant and very durable, you don't need case for these. I usually just throw them in my gym bag. The battery is amazing, it feels like it lasts forever lol and it charges very quickly. My only complaints are that sony didn't throw in a carrying case (but from my experiences you don't really need one), the earcups do get a little hot when doing heavy hypertrophy-like movements, they sometimes will slide off the back of your head when you're on a flat or incline bench, and they look kind of funny on your head lol. Other then that though, these are the best headphones for bass lovers who enjoy working out to rap, hip-hop, EDM, or any other heavy bass music genera. 9.5-10
So, this headphone have noise cancelling?
No. The upcoming model in around May (XB950N1) will have noise cancelling.

I know this is an old review but I LOVED these headphones. I got them for $90 at Best Buy a few years ago. Sad to say that a couple years later (maybe less), they snapped and came apart. The folding mechanism was just not very sturdy. I would love to find what the best successors to these headphones are in a similar price range! I miss these things dearly.
I feel Yamaha E700 are similar. Been checking them out online and they have this same bulky design, wireless, anc even. Yamahas have extra bass too, rattling type, while retaining other sound qualities.
Subwoofer bass basically, like these old Sony ones. Soundscape is wide too in Yamahas, similar to Sonys.
My fav headphones so far. Bass Boost is awesome.

They are prone to damage on the swivel. Many reports of severe breakage on the swivel. Be careful.

Ive used mine for 2 years mowing, shoveling snow, walking to work, in and out of bag and house. Never an issue. Lots of hip hop to play on Spotify.
Got these on holiday in the States for about $130, and the Base is a little offsetting in non-base heavy songs at first... still amazing headphones, and the Base boost shall be tested as soon as I've charged it ^^

jessim lakehal I bought some on black friday, returned them today. The sound quality is poor. I love bass headphones, I always buy bass but these are more like being hit in the face than a refined audio solution.
Also they are so ugly, they stick out really far on your head. Oh and the built in mic is shit and if you wear them whilst wearing a coat with a collar then the collar hits the rwd fwd play rocker, its really annoying.
But my CX3.0 in ear headphones from Sennheiser have better sound quality in every conceivable way, are louder and 1/3rd the price. So I couldnt justify keeping them.

I came back to this video as this channel has introduced me to Sony's XB lineup. I remember falling in love with these headphones so much at first sight. And to this day they probably were the most favorite headphones I have ever owned ...for about 3 months when one of the folding hinges broke apart. I was super sad because to this day those were the most expensive headphones I or someone else bought for me.
To this day I owned 4 Xtra Bass Products, the XB950BTs (RIP), the XB-20 Bluetooth Speakers (which after 5 years I still use to this day) the XB-900N (which also broke after a year) and now I have an order ready for pickup on the XB-910Ns
Great video and review. I appreciate the designers having the little pause-play-next-previous control input be a toggle instead of the standard button or a touchpad.

Chriselchingon23 The audio quality is awful. The bass is really strong but its not defined. I normally love bass heavy audio products but not these. The bass is so heavy its like trying to listen to audio on a mobile phone with a pneumatic drill attached to your face.

Great vid and review! About 2 years ago my older sister got to go to Best Buy and pick out a pair of headphones for her B-Day. She picked these ones and she had the same color as you. Black and Red. I really didn't care about them until about 5 or 6 months later when we went on a camping trip. She was listening to her music and she had the Bass Boost on. She had the volume turned up REALLY high. I coul hear them shaking from across the fire. I walked over and talked to her. She couldn't hear me so she took the headphones off and put them on my ears. I loved them and I wanted to get a pair of bluetooth headphones for my B-Day. I didn't want these specific ones because they would be too expensive. I got bluetooth headphones for B-Day, and they were these! I got the blue ones. I was so happy because my sister told all my Aunts and Uncles about these, so they each gave some money to buy them. It was good because I also got an iPod the same year. :)

Plz plz tell me which are better crushers or these i just ordered the skullcandy crushers off of amazon and they don't get here til 5 days and im regretting it if i made a bad decision because i absolutely love bassy headphones.
I'd say get these over the crushers, the bang for your buck is outstanding with these headphones, you get great sound quality, Bluetooth, an optional plug in aux cord, and extremely comfortable (I know I have a pair) the crushers lack in sound quality and aren't that comfortable. I'd recommend these over the crushers any day

Just got these for $89 at Best Buy and I'm absolutely in love with them. I also got a little amp so that when I play a game on something like 3DS, Wii U, XBox One, etc, I can still get that loud sound you get when the device is powered on.

great review. And for anybody not satisfied with the sound quality, try a 3rd party equalizer. These work really well with Viper4Android on my rooted note 3. The bass can be taken to insane levels, and the sound quality drop in bass boost could be cleared up well with the clarity toggle

the game freak yes, I actually would say the best bass focused headphones for 150. My Audiotechnica ATH-M50X sounds more clear and accurate but these have more a more bass with little trade off in clarity

I'm really skeptical about buying these headphones, I see a lot of people comparing them to beats and beats are absolute garbage in terms of sound.
Their comparing them to beats ( the new Apple beats not monster beats) because of the bass bro , it's a bass head type of headphone . It has better sound quality than the new beats and has better bass that doesn't wash out the sound. It has a higher audio driver than the beats at 40m, and a higher frequency too. So there's the stats
The reason why ppl say beats are shit is primarily because of the older (monster) beats by dre, the new (apple) beats by dre's have much better sound quality than the old ones. But the old ones left a bad legacy on the new ones
The new beats are pretty decent. Now the old ones were horrid.

I did buy these headphones (XB950BT) and they're great for what they're designed to do but I always end up going back to my preferred headphones from Sennheiser or Audio Technica. I do still really like the Sony's though, I've found them brilliant for movies with that rumble they produce

I got these 2 years ago for Christmas and I REALLY LOVED USING THEM. Then I broke one of the swivel joints so I had a loose ear cup. One more thing I didn't like was how hard it was to put the pads back on if they fell off and there aren't replacement 3.5mm audio jack cable that you can find unless you had headphones with so little space for the audio cable. I lost the cable twice and by the time I found it the second time, I had destroyed the headphones. Don't worry about breaking them unless you throw them around and don't treat them nicely

Just got some on marketplace for 20 bucks and man do these sound great! The bass is really good and doesnt compromise on sound too much
I used them on the plane, wore it for 5 hours flight to New York. Some headphones are irretating but this one damn I love the feeling.
They break so easily.... The hinges on the sides crack and snap. Plastic hinges is a no no.
+Mawek They will break. It will take 1 small tiny crack then the whole hinge will break and Sony won't even do anything warranty wise. I loved the headphones too they were the best. Don't use them in bed when you're lying down on your side of your heax on your pillow... That probably got mine cracked.

They probably are. I didn't listen long . I was comparing them to the 300$ Beats Studio. The Sony probably has more balanced sounds. Of course at a Best Buy display they don't offer a big variety of music styles to try in their headphones. Mainly heavy bass styles. I like all types of music.

ethobot Tragic sound quality. There is ridiculous levels of bass but its more of a rumble, its not refined at all, there is no punchiness to the sound and you almost cant hear the high frequencies. Also the general volume isnt very loud.
My Sennheiser CX 3.0 in ear headphones that I use for travelling on the tube are better in every area sound quality wise when using them in the tube compared to these Sony's in a quiet room and they cost 1/3 the price. Oh and are much louder.
I own a lot of headphones, I like a decent pair of headphones. I tend to prefer bass heavy headphones. But these particular phones are honestly the worst pair I have ever bought. Sony dropped the ball big time this time.

I bought one of these back in 2014 for $220. Yeah, expensive but totally worth it. It's over my head right now as I'm typing and I used it almost every single day actively. I even take these to the gym. Hands down, the best pair of headphone I've ever had so far. The only thing that is kinda torn are the cushions and needs a little bit repair.
OK, funny story. I decided on buying these headphones over the Skull Candy Crusher wireless yesterday, walked into my local Argos (UK store) with £100 in my pocket, paid for the item, looked at the box which read 'Sony MDR-XB950B1', looked at the receipt which read 'Sony MDR-XB950TB' and swiftly walked out the store. They sold me the upgraded model for the price of these headphones! The 'MDR-XB950B1' model costs £170, their mistake not mine. The Clear Bass Boost feature via the app is really awesome.

So satisfied. Nevrr used bt headphones before and these don't really hurt my ears after extended use unless extra bass is activated for a prolonged period of time.
Hello! I heard so many negative comments about this’s hinge that it breaks easy, And I personally think that build quality is not that okay for this price range. But Overall it sounds very nice and will rattle your ears with bass boost! Thanks hopefully you see my message. nice video by the way

These are nice, comfortable, lightweight, and sound great!
I can fall asleep with these on and wake up with little to no sore ear (probably just due to sensitive ears though) would really recommend to any bass or audio lover!
Listening on the 950BTs that I just got for $90 on Amazon. I love them. I wish Judner would release an update. You don't need bass boost but when listening to bass heavy music, it can make the music more fun, especially at the gym. I wish people would stop comparing these to ATH M50Xs though. They're for totally different people and tastes.
