Slade should get a lot of credit for his second try. That reaction time to catch the ball after accidentally hitting it off his knee just after the interception was impressive to watch.
That is the best I have seen England 🏴 play in a long time FairPlay
Becaus we have most of our important players back from injury. Gonna be a close game in Cardiff I think.
GWLAD Thank You to our Welsh friends, I thought we England did really well best ever
I'm Irish and feel disappointed by the result . However I've massive respect for the English players because they showed great character to get back to winning ways after a bit of a wobble last year. I wouldn't be upset to see them win the world cup if we can't manage it. Ireland need a big game next week to get momentum back.
That's gracious of you, truly sporting.
Hang on one minute... looks to me a lot like Mako Vunipola's hand was underneath the ball for that first Irish try!
It looked good from all angles apart from the last one where you see his hand underneath. Didnt notice it at the time and dont blame the ref for not spotting it either.
@@dougclark9921 No, I agree with you. Would be very harsh to expect the ref to have spotted that. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Except the ref had every English try checked by the TMO but didn't check either of the Irish ones.
In the game the TMO told the ref to check Cian Healy's try but the ref decided not to. Hindsight has nothing to do with it....Good spot by the TMO, bad call by the ref
Oh well. As an England fan I know we will never get the decisions with that ref :/
Kiwi fan here, England were awesome but it is early days in a big year for Rugby. I think both teams will be super dangerous in Japan later this year!
localmo88 big Oof 😂

Well, one of them were.
It was a joy to watch the match. The Irish can never be underestimated but the England side were fantastic.
I will never tire of watching this! Partly because I expect England to slip up at some point so I’m enjoying it while it last. Even if it’s only for a few days 😆
Gaz Roberts . You’re right Gaz we’re gonna smash ‘em all! Come on England!!! Arrogant England supporter?? 😂
Gaz Roberts Yes England did win the 6 Nations in 2017 but we were on for the Grand Slam and were beaten by Ireland 13-9. We were then soundly beaten by 4 sides last year. I’m happy for your optimism but history proves that cautious optimism with a hefty dose of humility is the best way forward
Gaz Roberts. So England weren’t beaten 13-9 by Ireland in 2017? Weren’t beaten by 4 teams last year? and cautious optimism isn’t a good policy?

You can’t exactly criticize the Irish players, they gave everything.
@@Tom_Harding wouldn't say that at all
@@Tom_Harding Ireland seemed shell shocked especially after the first try. Even before the game Best looked despondent. England were much more physical, faster reactions, tactically aware, England were better in every department. Well done England, we''ll get you next year lol...
True, many seem to mention it went the complete opposite way of the tide. Eddie's lads 've clearly done sth. right, I'd even say England took over the job Ireland were acclaimed to.
@@DownloadARevolt20 I can't ever get over the sheer inverted snobbery of the Irish. They think they are special and want to toy with the economics of other countries. They laugh as they set about bankrupting the lives of others, yet gaining nothing tangible for themselves. Their politics will destroy the lives of so many poor families yet they think this is justified, based on some perverted 'eye for an eye' vengeance mission.

Yes Guinness brings you back to the life its Irish Republic Irish very strong when it's come this game I don't understand this game but I like it
Great game! Brutal but even-tempered. England were far the better side on the day, but anyone writing off Ireland for the rest of the championship (& World Cup) is a fool! Let’s see if England can keep playing that well before we crow too loudly....
Start the video again and see how much of the crowd are missing at the start.. The over confidence from the media and fans transferred into the players and we got what we deserved a pasting..
I noticed that. Still having a beer I guess. But you could be right
Fine margins.
That’s corporate seats unfortunately. The same assholes who left the game early when England were running away with it instead of backing their team
England looked the hungry team for the win. I was betting on Ireland to win but they were average. Still room for improvement for Ireland with the World Cup a few months away. Ireland will be unstoppable come the other games in this tournament.
You got served
The score flattered Ireland
Looks like the first try from Ireland was held up
Yeah. Looked an inch or so off the ground.

Scott James Johnson that’s true yeah u are correct Ireland twice after the England games it shall be interesting viewing indeed
Don't forget South Africa and Australia, who whipped New Zealand's ass in the Rugby championship.
Well except for South Africa, who drew
Can someone please explain why the ref plays penalty advantages of just 3 seconds sometimes and other times of over 10 seconds?
That really didn't look like double movement to me. Its not as if he was driving forward or crawling. His feet and knees remain stationary, it was just the rest of his body flattening out after initially hitting the ground. Of course, if you put into slow motion then it looks like 5 seconds passed between movements, but it was a split-second pause during a single movement.
I said it before and I'll say it again, this is the game that derailed Joe Schmidt's Ireland from contending for the World Cup. In a year they went from being Grand Slam champions, being a game away from having a perfect year and smashing the All Blacks to crashing out of the World Cup quarter finals by 30+ points.
AND losing to Japan...
Ref was harsh on England.
Phillip Woody Shepherd and england still won🌹🌹
Hes a french, he hates any team that isnt him
Ireland just realised it doesn't take one win against the All blacks to be number one, you gotta beat everyone after that game as well.
Secret to Johnny May? His shirt contains the swet of Jasson Robinson.
Just read predictions for Autumn Cup. Ireland to top the group with Eng second. Their match up will be fun.
Best part about this game was the fans leaving after the last try xD
Did they? Oh dear. Anyone see St. Jacob's pathetic push on Ford when the game was over. And his smirk. Great when it's going well.
Use of shoulder to tackle; well what else are you going to tackle with then Ref
Farrell or Sexton?
Is the refs mic outputting to the stadium speakers these days?? It's the only downside in going to a game (if you can get a ticket that is)
Looking good Geezers
What thought process lead you to narrate the highlights 10 seconds before they happen. It’s the most redundant use of commentary I’ve ever witnessed.
The bias in the video is unbelievable. It claims Slade was offside for his try when we all know he wasn’t and then doesn’t even acknowledge Healy’s try shouldn’t have been given, doesn’t acknowledge Curry yellow card which shouldn’t have been given and doesn’t even check the forward pass for the Cooney try.
The Healy try definitely had George's hand underneath but the Tom Curry yellow was deserved.
None of that matters. Irish fans know we were totally outplayed and should have lost by more.
Fair yeah, I think an unconscious level of bias just comes out depending on the station and commentary, it was pretty bias at timez on RTE (Irish tv) not gonna lie but I often feel the same on BBC towards England's games so it's kinda understandable..your national station/pundits/commentators are gonna lean towards their nation
There was a question though that slade was offside thats why it went to the tmo. There was no question asked about Healeys try from the officials, same for Cooneys try, so why should the guy commentating on this video bring it up. If he did then it would just be his opinion and therefore very biased. He commentated on the events of the game and thats it. The video was not biased in the slightist.
@@IrishBorussen I'm Irish and I always try to avoid watching the Irish broadcast for international sports. I like to watch the game and have it analyzed rather than coming at everything from 'us and them'. I find the Irish commentary is terrible for that, worse sometimes than some who are supposedly renowned for it - like England or Oz. Generally if two teams are playing I'll try to find a broadcast from a third country.
With Ireland being given a non-try, and england being denied a certain try it really should have been 39-13. England absolutely DESTROYED Ireland there. By far the better team
Where was this "certain try" you talk of? And I suppose you didn't notice that pretty blatant forward pass for the 3rd Englisdh try? If that try had been chalked off at a decisive moment in the game it could have ended very differently.
Yeah Mac Even RTE post game coverage says it wasn’t a forward pass

Stockdale was actually tackled off the ball for Dalys try
He clearly had the ball in his hands and irelands fist try was held up

3rd England try shouldn't have been awarded, there was clearly a forward pass right before the kick. You can see that the ball travels at least 2 meters ahead even though the receiver was behind the ball at the moment of the pass.

It's the same Try that the Pumas did in RWC 15.
A failure in the System.
Was Stockdale trying to injure Ford at the end?

That was a great physical battle. England in the end thoroughly deserved the win. Virtually a copy book of how Ireland played the ABs not giving Ireland any room for monovere. So, after the complete shithouse refereeing in this game, here's some points I noticed that could have swung the momentum. 1) Cian Healey's try could've been held up. It looked like George got his hand under it before being put down. 2) Vunipola's try should've stood. He wasn't stopped, and merely ground his face and body with the ball over the line, not overly different from how a winger would dive before the line then slide over, albeit much, much, slower. 3) Itoje was lucky to stay on the field. This is probably the most contentious, as he had eyes on the ball, jumped first, but he was some distance away from where the ball landed. Could've gone either way, as it was a 50/50 and physics dictates that Earls loses that battle 9/10. If we're being pedantic, Murray should've had a penalty against him fro clear and obvious blocking on May in the build up, but Itoje was still lucky. 4) Henry Slade's pass to May was forward. From where he throws it, and to where May catches it, the ball has travelled forwards. He was onside, just, from May's kick, but surprised Garces didn't go back and check that. 5) Theres a clip on twitter of a Tuilagi dangerous clear out on Stockdale. Doesn't look to be an attempt at any arms made, and could be viewed by some to have used excessive force. However it is worth noting that Stockdale was in their illegally, not part of the ruck, making no effort to compete. Still, if Tuilagi had been binned as well, who knows.
Another example of somebody who doesn’t understand The Laws. The ball may travel forward but thar doesn’t make it a forward pass. Tut.

the english was offside last try but ireland shoild have won too many mistakes and carrying the fav tag did not go well with irish
I don't usually comment about the ref decisions because the respect around it is what makes rugby such a beautiful sport but come on, a damn yellow gard? Are the english the new All Blacks? A yellow card on this means that any player could come and launch his arm into your throat at high speed and only be out for 10 minutes? Aren't refs supposed to protect the players first? I don't even understand how did it not create a scandal. That was purely outrageous. Could have changed the match, even if the english team was astonishing after it.
He didn't hit his throat, he clearly hit his chest. A late tackle on the chest is never a red card. It's questionable if it was even a yellow as it wasn't that late.
il manque Rob Kearney en 15..!!! et ou est le fighting spirit...???? faut remettre des gars du Munster au pack...
We be back
England merited the win but that Slade pass was at last 2 yards forward. Garces went to TMO for offside (it looked level) but then didn't look at that pass? Bad decision on what was the most important score of the game.
Except the pass was backwards. A forward pass is determined by the direction the passer passed the ball relative to the direction of play and not relative to the ground. Eg a player running forwards at 15 mph who throws the ball over his head at 7mph will still result in the ball travelling forwards at 8mph. Quite clearly throwing the ball over your head behind you is not a forward pass so that's how the law stands.
Quinlan doesn't.
And then they say Ireland will win the world cup this year
Still could, they're a good team, always a good amount of chance in tournaments.
Anyone could win the world cup. Ireland, England, Wales, South Africa and Australia all have a chance of winning.

As an England fan watching this of course it was wonderful, in a truly and deeply satisfying way. But I have to tell you this: it is more wonderful because it was against the Irish.
A very good side - but from a culture whose instinctive resentment and derision of England always seems so insecure and pathetic, so rooted in misinformation and a victim complex that they perpetuate. And because rugby was really their only outlet for this - as well as being snide about the English in pubs and offices while in England living here as economic migrants - to beat them at home in front of their own fans who complacently drank in the stands at kick off, and to beat them in a manner that was nothing short of a physical and emotional humiliation (sexton could barely pass by the end; look at the way o'mahony weeps; a 5-0 points victory away) - it all just felt simply amazing.

What is so obvious that it's ridiculous is that you don't understand the laws of rugby or the laws of physics.
@@feliscorax of course you don't
@@luisguerreiro71 Well, actually, I do. According to the Laws of Rugby, the ball has to be passed backwards out of the attacking player's hands. However, due to the player's inertia and the relative forward momentum this gives the ball, the physics will carry the ball forward without the pass actually being forward. It was an excellent pass and fair try, and although Garçes did make some interesting decisions in this game, he got that call exactly right.
Compare, for example, the Irish pass at 23:22 (or thereabouts of the full game: link below) to Slade's in the second half. The Irish player's body shape is completely different, and the ball leaves his hands already in a forward direction; Slade's pass left his hands in a backwards direction and was carried forward by momentum. Big difference.

@@feliscorax English player catches the ball 10 m ahead almost in Ireland's half , but if its in the rules there's no argue with that , but for me its forward .
@@luisguerreiro71 That's true, but that's only because of the relative velocity of the attacking player being carried into the inertia and momentum of the ball. It's precisely because of that that the laws were changed: The only criteria for a forward pass now is whether the ball leaves the passer's hands in a forwards or a backwards direction. Otherwise every flat pass would be called forward, and even some, such as over the head passes, would be as well in spite of the obviousness that they weren't actually passed forward to begin with. In other words, Newton's physics give the appearance of a forward pass, but that's all it is: an appearance. Yes, the recipient player (May in this case) does catch it further upfield from where the pass was launched, but that's not the relevant fact here.
