Just keep trying, Agent Montgomery... - Ігри
This was absolutely the most memorable, nerve-tingling mission in the entire Trilogy for me. The tables have utterly flipped and, at least when you play the mission the first time, you have *no* idea what the other ICA agents are capable of. Diana's nowhere, Grey's dead, and Olivia's being hunted along with you. It's just you, the eerie silence of a German bus stop, and a pamphlet telling you to go to Hell.
...Until you get to Club Hölle.
This was an absolutely brilliant choice for a level with these circumstances. The NPCs are there to have fun and enter a mindless sensory overload. You are there, however, to kill and survive. Your mindset couldn't be more different from theirs - not to mention how many of them are clearly stoned out of their minds. The first time I played through this, I felt like I was surrounded by aliens, not the usual, generally likeable Hitman NPCs, and that added to the sense of isolation even more, despite the crowds.
I know people compare this level to John Wick and yes, there are certainly similarities, but the John Wick OST is music to kick ass to. The Club Hölle OST is music to hunt and be hunted to. It's energetic, yes, but also cold and compassionless in that uniquely techno sort of way. Minor key and intense, yet not out of place at all in a rave.
I guess the only missed opportunity I wish they'd done is time up the "action" music that happens when taking people down with the rave music so it'd sound like adding an orchestral layer to it. As it is now, as far as I can tell, it just starts playing whenever.
Also, I just tested it out in Audacity - the 'Apex Predator' theme (around 9:32) matches up perfectly in tempo with the rave music.
They did that last idea with Athena, I don't see why they couldn't do it with Berlin. Great review M8.
Goosebumps from reading this ...
Omg
As someone who has never played another hitman game before and bought 3 and the Hitman 1GOTY edition dlc for 3,I have to say, Yeah hitman 3's Berlin is fucking dope. I love it's open feel despite it being heavily surveillanced. I love that at the start you are not aware of who all the agents are and where they are located. I love that the order you pacify them and or kill them will determine how you plan to eliminate future members. It makes the level very fun to Suit Only, silent assassin.
best mission in the trilogy, atmosphere and mission objectives are great in this.
My favorite in this installment. It’s fun just putting non-lethal shots in them and playing a game of cat and mouse. And that you’re the one that’s being hunted down.
Haven island is the best
I like all of the missions in Hitman 3. My only complaint is that they're too small
@@nickitysplit1232 Small? I've seen a lot of people get lost in them when they're new, but yeah there are less mission stories to reveal. Most of them are hidden.
@@nickitysplit1232 of all the games in the WoA trilogy, hitman 3 by far felt the most like the classic hitman games from the 2000s IMO
I think nothing will ever meet that sense of fear and ambiguity I had felt for 47 when I first started this mission.
I also spent 10 minutes going around the petrol station...thinking there was something there silly me
Same here and I also remember having no weapons when it first started. This level was a masterpiece. I think inside one of the shed's behind the petrol station there a pamphlet which foreshadows club holle - it gets added as an intel item :D
Same. I still thought I'd missed something by not checking if I could enter the station.
"Okay Niels, we're working on this nightclub level, and we need you to wake some background beats for the rave floor. Now, this is gonna be ambient stuff, so don't worry about getting too exotic."
"You got it, boss."
Niels then proceeded to drop the beat harder than the pipe on Agent Tremaine.
I often wonder if the intention was to have the music play a lower volume, kind of muffled and have the agents talk constantly on comms to give you a sense of paranoia and then the team heard this and threw that plan in the bin.
3:27 "I'll take care of this..."
It's almost unreal how perfect this soundtrack is for this mission/map. It absolutely left me breathless from the very first seconds. It perfectly captured 47's state of mind and the grim turnout of the story. Absolutely alone, with no allies to rely on, no back up, having tragically lost his long time friend...even for a stone cold assassin like 47, this was bound to show us a new side of his character. This map is absolute perfection, probably my most favorite in the trilogy, and not because it was the most fun to play or biggest or whatever, but because it had the most perfect atmosphere and story.
well said, i’m glad other people appreciate the nuances of the story too; i love the gameplay but i feel like the trilogy really developed 47’s story in an interesting way
I always liked the title of the mission for this one, "Apex Predator." You're being hunted down by ICA agents who, like 47, are unquestioningly dedicated to their objective: killing you. Though you've been effectively backed into a corner by 11 aggressors, all hellbent on making sure you don't leave in one piece, who is really the hunter, and who is really the prey? Your mission is to set the record straight by making an example of the poor souls who thought they could outsmart the true apex predator.
Apex Predator feels as though it's focused on 47 himself rather than the targets or the location, and the music complements this. With the exception of the techno, Berlin's soundtrack is serious, ominous, and foreboding, reflecting 47's own mindset in this mission. Though a rapturous rave rages on around him (say that five times fast), it is trivial to him. He is only here to do what he does best: eliminate people. Make no mistake; heads will roll.
This mission really does emphasize what Hitman is all about: stalking your targets, observing their behavior, studying their weak points, and finally, striking--using all you've learned about your targets to destroy them discreetly (or not so discreetly). The dark and ominous music emphasizes this, too, and really makes you feel as though you're a hunter, tracking down your prey.
Call me a sadist, but I love watching the agents' smug confidence slowly dissolve and Jiao's fear grow as more and more of their friends disappear. Already Jiao is irritated from the get-go, but hearing her angrily chew out the agents for their ineptitude, as well hearing the fear build in her voice, never fails to make me chuckle. And I will admit, when all the agents are gone, I can't help but grin when Jiao calls in one last time:
"Expertly done, 47."
"Expertly fucking done."
"You killed them all ?"
"They got the message"
@@funkycord1336 That's another one I quite like. Olivia's disbelief and shock instantly being met with 47's cold reply gets me to crack a smile.
"And don't take this personally. I have to admit though - it's an even greater honor to be the one who took out the legendary 47. Because now it's time to die."
The only other time I've heard of him being called "the legendary 47" was back in Silent Assassin, loved the callback
I can just imagine him saying, “fine, have it your way”
Agent 47: *throws the desk like a fucking muscle man*
This mission's soundtrack felt a lot different from what we've seen of Niels so far. Outside the club it's much more quiet and tense, which matches the in-game tension as 47 is hunted by the agents.
Then you enter the club itself, which is a chaotic shithole, and I mean that in the best way possible. The atmosphere of the club is one that says "Here, anything goes," and to an Apex Predator like Agent 47, that means opportunity.
Felt like Mumbai but genuinely tense as you search the agents and know you have the upper hand inside the club. Mumbai didn't quite cut it, as much as I enjoyed it.
It definitely brings back the tone of Hitman: Contracts, especially with the droning whines for ambient themes. A bit quieter, more focus on ambience with the slow strings, too.
I've also really appreciated the little "World of Assassination" jingle in the lightshow climax. One thing I liked about the scoring of Hitman 2 was that each location has its own musical themes and style during ambient tracks, but the Suspicious, Arrested, and Combat themes are almost identical apart from a few instruments; the atmosphere emphasizes the natural day-to-day life around you, until you break the illusion and the music symbolizes the unnatural, mechanical nature of 47.
It's a nice meta inclusion, for sure. It continues the trend of using the theme for breaks in each sandbox (it's supposed to play after 47 lights a few people on fire with a neon tree, after all), but also is hidden in the crowd of Club Music like 47 himself. And when he is the DJ, what song does he ultimately play? Not Ave Maria or some new custom theme...but his own musical theme that has slowly sounded more natural, organic, and human over the course of Hitman III.
“47 is hunted by the agents” you mean “the agents are hunted by 47” :^)
@@femboygorou That's one of the gorgeous parts of this level. The first time I played it, I was terrified that the agents would find and kill me. Then, after about 3 kills, the tables took a very sharp turn.
I was the 47th like, so thats cool I guess.
Love that Niels used a Jaws-like motif in the Bikers' Hideout. Perfect for the "Apex Predator". Hitman is like the stealth version of "DOOM", you're the big bad that everyone on the map is afraid of, not the other way around. You're the thing to be afraid of.
The "Mission Accomplished" motif at 27:34 brings me *so much joy!*

This mission, man.. I had never played Hitman 1 or 2, just watched some gameplay videos and liked it and when 3 came out I decided to try it out. Beat the first and second mission doing all the challenges and then got to this mission. It made the game click for me, did all the challenges here and decided to STOP and go back to play Hitman 1 and 2 before I resumed. I needed to know the whole story because I knew we were heading for an epic climax.
It was perfect narratively too, Agent 47 finds out the CIA is after him and goes to dismantle them in Chongqing and on the way remembers all the missions he went through for them from the beginning. It made the file deletion extremely satisfying, seeing all the targets you killed flashing before your eyes. Don't get me started on the cutscene after Mendoza - pure perfection.
"I forgot you were a man of few words, 47."

Build-up and Rave music. Holy shit. I audibly gasped when I first entered Hölle and the Build up transitioned to rave. Protip: have the drugs guy give you the tour to get to the dance floor at the specific moment the beat drops. Definitely playing this at the next rave lol.

41:24 sounds like Jaws, change my mind.
I think that's the idea..agent 47 is a shark, waiting for the moment to strike his prey, an apex predator.
I love how for when you get arrested or have suspicion on you, the music is so much more intense because it means so much more in a environment where 47 is not in control.
48:07 47: We’re clear.
Olivia: (On phone) You killed all of them?
47: They got my message. Where are you?
Olivia: (On phone) Diner. Up the main road.
47: I’m on my way.
Man this game took a 180 degree turn REAL fast
this is the best map in hitman 3.
when you play this map for the first time, you're at a complete disadvantage. no briefing, no intel, no loadout, no item smuggling. you have no idea what's going on. you then see agent price, and you're forced to hide in the bushes. you soon realize you're being tracked down by a dozen ICA agents trying to take you down for good.
but, as you continue to play this map and evade the agents in the crowds, you slowly begin to take them out one by one, and you slowly start to gain the advantage. eventually, you transition from the hunted into the hunter, and the ICA agents are forced to retreat
such an excellent map. nothing like it in the hitman series
15:21 Sorry Miami drivers lounge music, I have a new favorite
the Climax part of the Rave/Club track makes it one of the best tracks in the trilogy
hearing 47’s theme as an EDM banger was not something i knew i needed
@rohit kumar i don’t think it’s officially called 47’s theme anywhere, but it’s most recognisable as the mission accomplished music. it pops up in cutscenes sometimes when 47 does something RAD
@@henry-ys8wp It's the leitmotif of the trilogy, so yeah, it's as close to 47's theme as you're getting.
The trilogy? No, I’d say the entire franchise. All the way back to Codename 47

"Expertly done, 47. Expertly f*cking done." -radio static-
Such a unique soundtrack in this mission, one of the best in the trilogy imo
I love playing a game of cat and mouse with the targets inside the club with the club music playing. It’s just so fun. Just shooting them in the arms or legs and running away just to hear their dialogue with each other.
Hölle yeah boi...
I love how all the music inside the club is upbeat while everything else just sounds cold and dead
26:53 All ya need to know, again. ;)
Omg yes Finally an edit with the buildup and climax, I've been wanting this so badly to blast in my headphones!!!!!!!
"Expertly done, 47... Expertly fucking done"
Most "Mission accomplished" clips in the new Hitman trilogy are happy, glorious, or ominous.
Conveying a sense of grandeur, a sense of a job well done, a sense of purpose. This all crumbles as the story of Hitman 3 unfolds.
Dismantling the ICA until nothing remains brings no sense of accomplishment to 47 and it shows. But it is what must be done. The end of mission music clips in Hitman 3 are sparse, dark, gritty, depressing.
It really drives home the sense of: "I've done it, but at what cost?"
I love this series.
I wonder what could Jesper Kyd do today in terms of composing a techno track for this game, if he was to stay as the composer for the series. Sometimes I miss his take on the unique sound of his, in all the older games, but not this one. Niels did amazing.
42:35 is my favorite part. Just imagine 47 sneaking around in the biker hideout and meticulously planning his next move.
Same. It feels so badass walking around with this music in the background.
I will never ever forget that moment of walking down the stairs and seeing the main stage etc with that dark techno pumping. Absolutely electric. One of my favourite moments / missions in any game ever.
Same here 😎played it on PS5 and always remember the Controller begins shaking to the Beat while going downstairs. What a Hell of a Game
Your mixes are pretty great dude.
Even though the build-up for Club Hölle is just bass, I love it so much.
The agents are heavily armed and will spot 47 through any disguise. Taking them head-on is ill-advised, but not impossible if you know what you're doing.
Amazing work man!!
The saints, ICA spec ops, and the praetorians...and yet, ICA didn't learn the lesson...
47 is the scalpel as said by Travis
thanks for the upload salem, been waiting,
Best mission ever.
When 47 is being chased and sought by 11 other ICA agents, the hunter...stays the hunter!
Probably also made him reminisce of his time in the Slaughterhouse Club.
Love how the soundtrack takes a turn from reflecting the environment you are in, into a what 47 is currently feeling at that given moment. Having the dread of being hunted by ICA agents and having murderous vibes building up within 47, it fits the scene on him getting revenge and proving that you do not fuck with 47.
47:00 the music that plays when you’re right next to the exit is awesome.
Berlin is my favourite Season 3 map, I love the soundtrack, and there are many opportunities to eliminate your targets
The beginning of this mission was probably the most TENSE i felt while playing any Hitman game

durrrrr must have been an accident
There are no official names except for a few tracks from the official soundtrack, so I try to come up with somewhat fitting titles. Glad you noticed the reference.
If it is, then it would be a call-back to the mission of the same name in Hitman: Absolution. Fittingly, in that game (since Diana is presumed dead, and 47 chose to abandon the ICA instead of delivering Victoria to them), the only ally he has left to assist him is Birdie (who gets captured at the end of the mission, and later sells 47 out to the ICA), and 47 has to figure out how to complete his objectives on his own. Also, the ICA hit squad is pretty much The Saints, but without the nun theme, and they actually care about maintaining stealth.
I just got to this level and I can see why everyone raved (pun intended) about it. Its SO MUCH FUN! But also this game had no right to do what it did to me before this level. I came to pewpew, not emotion.
