I totally agree with you that so many things we see and like are over-priced, and it's much more cost-effective, satisfying, and enjoyable to DIY things.
You can get the same affect using baking soda and craft paint. Can make it as thick or thin as you want it and you can paint it on your surface. I’ve done lamps and candleholders and it turns out great. And and has held up really well.
Totally! How we the plaster gives you deeper peeks and valleys which I like when I paint it so you get the little white to show through. But I have also done that same technique with great results ✨
Am I the only one that chuckled at the “Beep, boop, beep, beep!” In the Hungry Root moment of this video?! Whit- I love your dupes! Not only do they look fabulous; you make it look like they are something that even I could possibly do!! 😊
Tiered tray and dupe videos are my favorites to watch. I originally started crocheting in high school to save money on the current fashions in it. That was about 1969. I still to it today but mostly to give as gifts. It made my creative juices flow and my current passion is watching you and the rest of my faves, who inspire me every day! Thanks for your beautiful ideas! PS Have you ever tried using pvc piping to make anything? That was big a bit before you were born though. ♥️♥️
I always love your dupes video. Road trip with kids tip: thrift a couple of coffee table books. Let the kids do what they want with them. Roll hot wheels, use as a surface to hold food, drinks, coloring books. Let them turn the pages and ooh and ahh as much as they want. Often these books are “hands off” items for kids (and Grammy’s). Win win! You usually pay $5 or less and the kids are so proud that they got one.
If you have a Lowes the lumber is usually better quality. I love the concrete bowls. Pretty sweater. Thanks for the caulk gun tips and tricks! prefer the texture on the base of vase over actual lamp, but would raise the shade a bit. Looking around my house fo a lamp to transform 😂 TFS
I absolutely love these videos because I don't know a single person who is going to spend hundreds of dollars on a single basket, candleholder or bookend. Even if I could afford those things, I don't think I would buy them because if I can't justify the price of an item, for myself, I'm not getting it. I mean, it took me YEARS to justify spending $200+ on a flat-screen, $100 on a countertop dishwasher, $200+ on a DSLR camera, etc. Maybe it's because I grew up extremely poor, and have spent my entire adult life struggling financially (I'll be 33 this year), or maybe it's simply the logical/rational side of my brain. Either way; there is NO way I'm paying prices like that, so thank you for these videos! Your crafting is phenomenal.
The lamps and vases dupes were the jewel, but when you snuck in the patio furniture you had built for your deck I was completely inspired!! Ive got a big deck with no furniture - for as slow as I am, if I start now I might have it done by summer!🤣
You are amazing. Your bench turned out perfect. When you decide you want something you come up with an idea and plan that works. I’m Learning a lot from your videos. I love the distressing of the bench you built. Oh my goodness and the patio set you built turned out great also. Jami
Love love love the bench. They remind me of my Granddad's saw horses he made years ago, my dad then used them for years after as well. I have no idea where they ended up but I am so sad they are like en vogue now!! It is gorgeous!!!
Love the bench! I also like changing up the vases/lamp bases with spackle. I will be trying that today! Definitely doing the cement bowls this spring! Thanks for all of the great ideas!
So amazing! You are so talented! I love them all. My favorite is the 2x8 table/bench that looks reclaimed and the mirror. Those totally go with my aesthetic. Gorgeous!
I always enjoy watching your video's. You always have such great ideas I haven't thought of or just haven't tried yet...🥰👍🏻 I absolutely LOVE the mirror frame you did, it turned out great!!! And the little bench turned out great too... I will definitely be trying out the glass vases to make lamps, such a wonderful idea...😀
Hi whit diy donna here love the Mirror Come Spring, I am going to watch your video on how to make your own patio furniture. I love your patio furniture.

Love your dupes! I am so glad it is a new year of diys! You and Courtney are my most favorite UA-camrs! I would love to see the two of you do some type of fun collab together this year! Can't wait to see what all you create you do!
If you want to distress a board quickly without much work you can slide it across gravel. Step on it or jump, kick it so it slides or get the kids to come have some fun. Be sure to check it often so it’s not more damaged than you want.
WOW!! I don’t know how I found you but I’m glad I did! New Subscriber here! I loved them all with the exception of the ones you used with a glass vase. I actually like how they turned out but I’ve always been afraid I’d forget they were glass and knock one over!! BTW I don’t know if you sell you projects, but I would definitely pay good money for any of them. Congratulations on an awesome video, Robin
Thanks so much for your inspiration on these dupes! You do such a great job Can you tell me when or why some of the pottery makeovers are done with plaster of Paris and some with spackling? I would really appreciate it 😊
Love the projects! I want to learn to use power tools this year! They scare me! I want to make a wall cubbie thingy that I can put in my entry way and then use old railroad ties as hooks for our coats and things. Wow! The pricing on such things is crazy! Wish I could not be scared to use tools so I could make it! I live all your projects and love the tips you give! I also want to get those lightbulbs! Love that! Want one for my entryway! You are so awesome!! So thankful for you!
