  • Highlights from a guided VIP tour of the Branson Titanic Museum. This is the sister museum to the one in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
    Anne Frank was in the museum as part of a special exhibit they were doing to honor Titanic's Jewish passengers and remember the Holocaust. The Strauses were two among the 69 known Jewish people aboard the ship and two of the 39 who perished. The Strauses' nephew, Nathan, was a college friend of Anne Frank's father, Otto Frank.

      @Rick Kinki. I had to look this up since it wasn't explained. They have a section where they honor Jewish connections to the titanic. This is a small part of what I found. Turns out Nathan helped get Anne's diary published.
      "What is the connection between Anne Frank and the Titanic?
      Otto Frank, the father of Anne Frank, was best friends with Nathan Straus, brother of First Class Passenger and Titanic victim Isidor Straus, both of whom co-owned Macy's."

      Lusitania was the first ship built with four funnels. It was added to the Olympic class liners to compete with Cunard. The funnel DID have a function, it was the dog kennel.

    i feel for the guy that was tasked with turning the ship. when i went to the museum, there was a simulator to try and turn the wheel enough for the ship to clear it. I was going as fast as i could and my cousin still had to help me.

    • @jlasf
      @jlasf Рік тому +4

      It's more tragic than that. They would have survived if they HADN'T turned the ship. In that case, they would have hit it straight on and damaged only the front watertight compartments. The ship could survive that. It was because they turned and the iceberg ripped a long gash on the side that it opened up more of the watertight compartments. That's what doomed the ship.

    • @MauriceRivers415
      @MauriceRivers415 Рік тому +2

      @@jlasf Exactly. The Carpathia would've saved them, and it's very likely that none would've perished. Sadly, hindsight is 20/20.

    • @jlasf
      @jlasf Рік тому

      @@MauriceRivers415 Recently, I researched the Olympic, Titanic's sister ship. It was identical and was more famous at the time because it launched first. It had arrived in NYC a couple of months before and was greeted by 10,000 people. In fact, the myth of the Titanic is overblown on this point. People had seen a ship this size before. It wasn't as mind-blowing as it's presented. Because the Olympic was more famous, there are many photographs of the interior. These pictures are frequently misnamed as photos of the Titanic.
      In addition, many years later, the Olympic was involved in a serious accident that resulted in the front of the Olympic being crushed. In this case, the front watertight compartments held. It was damaged, but it did not sink. No such luck for the Titanic.
      Lastly, the legend that the Titanic was considered "unsinkable" was never stated by the White Star Line. It's unclear who originated that description.

    Double thumbs up to this museum.... I don't have words to describe anything I've seen here....the concept is awesome...'the million dollars room'- so authentic and exacting...among the many other exhibits. Don't know about you but when the guy at the piano began playing that piece of music...my eyes just started watering,then came the sniffles! I remembered reading and seeing Cameron's Titanic how the band played on...!
    However, l have one concern and that is the tour guide - Jamie didn't mention the name 'R.M.S.Carpathia' - instead she just said a "small passenger liner"...why would she or the management of the museum do that?
    History has to be told as the whole truth without any biases (and please I am not pointing fingers that this might have been deliberate!)☮️. Just my humble opinion.
    Doesn't the 'R.M.S.Carpathia' and her venerated Captain Arthur H.Rostron and men deserved to be mentioned in any discussion of the 'R.M.S. Titanic' thereafter it had hit the iceberg and made contact with that ship?
    Wasn't the 'S.S. Carpathia' the first vessel to have reached the scene some three hours later after having sped through the dense ice floes at that moment in time through the 'blackness' of night and reaching to 'the scene' sometime just around the crack of dawn? Does anybody understand what great risk that was to be steaming through at full speed?
    Now, upon reaching 'the scene' RMS Carpathia men wasted no time, under the watchful eyes of Cpt.Rostron, they got to work immediately rescuing lives from that icy-cold North Atlantic waters...who lived to tell the fateful events that unfolded a 'few hours ago'...that has since being immortalised for all posterity into all sorts of media....and this awesome idea of a museum.
    May all of RMS Titanic souls that were tragically lost at sea Rest in Peace and to Cpt.Sir Arthur H. Rostron and his ship's crew all Rest in Peace too.☮️👍🙏🇬🇾.

    Can you imagine having that propeller as a big ceiling fan since it's up on the roof?
