    The performance seems more than adequate for whoops. I'll probably use this going forward mainly due to the thickness of the receiver. It'd be nice to cram it between the frame and battery tray like that.

      @@ATXAirborne You mentioned problems with 500hz packet rates on the spi boards. Is that personal experience or is there somewhere I can read more about this?

    • @andrebalsa203
      @andrebalsa203 Рік тому

      @@kurtzFPV It's a well documented hardware limitation of the SPI ELRS receivers. They simply won't bind if your Tx is set to higher packet rates, you must use 250Hz or lower packet rates, which btw is not really a problem for 99.99% of us, you just have a tiny bit more latency.

    Thank you very much for the excellent testing and review of these ELRS receivers. I ended up buying the BetaFPV ELRS Lite with the flat antenna, but I received version 1.1 which it seems has improved reception. I have stuck it in the back of a Darwin Baby Ape and it's a good combination, works like a charm, and thanks to your testing it seems I don't really have to worry about range.

      @@ATXAirborne Agreed, even when I take my whoops outside of my place, it's usually a small park, or a single level of a parking garage, and that antenna provides more than enough range/penetration for that.

    As I was watching this video I was literally stacking my HDZero Whoop Lite board on top of my BetaFPV AIO with cube antenna, while trying to get the best orientation possible to minimize how much space is wasted (!!@$#@!$!) and I hear your words "that antenna sticking up off the board does kinda limit..." urgh YEA, now I wish I watched your video before building this whoop!!! Kinda wish whoop boards would maybe put the cube antenna BELOW the board (same side as USB port?) maybe that would solve the problem of stacking vtx'es above the board ... but maybe that would introduce other problems (I ain't an RF engineer...). Enjoyed the video, thanks for your insights (as usual).

    Great review/testing.. After a few early quality issues with the Happy Model and later the Flywoo receivers I switched to Matek. They are harder to fit in a whoop do to their bigger size though. But they've been flawless and the build quality is top notch. As I understand, they have an onboard telemetry amplifier as well?? I wonder if you've tried them.

    I dont understand why the vTX has anything to do with the ELRS range of the RX? were you using a 2 in 1 RX which also has video and RX?

    • @ATXAirborne

      I only mentioned the VTX because I can’t fly outside of my video range, so it’s a practical limitation on the distances I can test these receivers.

    • @ATXAirborne
      @ATXAirborne  2 роки тому

      I like the T-Pro a lot. I did a review of it a while back and have been using it as my primary radio since then. The stick ends are from Thumb Grippies, and I chose them because they’re the shortest stick ends I can find. The main issue with the T-Pro is that the gimbals stick up unusually high.

    I have a 2 whoops with separate soldered on Fly Sky recvrs. Can they be easily changed out with an ELRS recvr?

    • @ATXAirborne
      @ATXAirborne  2 роки тому +1

      You will most likely be able to do it, but you will probably need to solder an additional wire between the ELRS receiver and the flight controller because I believe FlySky only uses 3 wires. The best bet is to look up a wiring diagram for the flight controller on your whoop and make sure there is a TX and RX pad available that you can use. I have a video that goes through how this works for ELRS, and it explains this in detail: ua-cam.com/video/XNkidFPuWdw/v-deo.html I hope it helps!

      I'm not really sure what you mean. I tried to present the data clearly so everyone could decide what they think. I clearly said at every point that the BetaFPV receiver didn't perform as well. But I do think it still has a place with it being as small as it is. I hope you don't feel that any of that was misleading, and I certainly did not intend to misrepresent it.

      Thanks. No worries. I’ve had good experiences with BetaFPV stuff so far, although I know they aren’t without their problems.
      It’s really mostly a coincidence that I’ve had more of their stuff on the channel lately compared with other brands. New product releases have been a little slow lately due to Covid lockdowns, so some of the other stuff I cover hasn’t really had new releases lately. I think things are looking better now though.
