      lol i totally get jason's perspective. i much prefer clean wood trays but i do a lot of custom carving. currently doing an entirely over elaborate mollymauk themed tray carved with all of his tattoos. it's fun but nothing like letting the wood speak for itself. The trick is getting woods that constract the walls AND the leather being used well.

    It makes sense and is perfectly fair. The "cost" of you guys giving reviews on people's products is one of the products. The reviews are good and super helpful to people working in the craft. Ian and Doug had some great advice on the box, but why are single wood bottom and back boxes not good? I am self-learning CNC and one of the first tutorials was a dice-box in which the bottom and top are each one piece. Is that because the large surface area of the wood becomes exposed and warp/shrink itself to pieces?

    • @volinarsworkshop4818
      @volinarsworkshop4818 4 роки тому

      It can it depends on how you attach them. They good quality ply one because their bottoms are fully recessed so the sides arent showing and two because the layers are crisscrossed grain which makes them very stable to environmental change. Theres tricks to mitigate the effect but wood moves is a fact of owning such things.

    I just want to say. I completely 100% get why you guys don't want to have to deal with shipping stuff back to customers. But maybe you should have stated this requirement prior to asking people to send shit to you. But I get it.
    But also, what if someone wants you guys to see a piece they're super proud of? Something that may impress you guys. That epic piece that they slaved over and proudly display in their game room? Of course they're going to want it back. Maybe tell them up front that if they want it back, they need to pay for the shipping themselves. Or send in their stuff with a prelabeled box to send it back? Just a thought. But I love that you guys are doing this. Sucks that I haven't had time to work on any of my new stuff yet. I love these reviews and hope people take in your guys critiques seriously. Does Jason have any vids of him making anything by hand? I love watching those processes.
    My grandad was a hobby wood worker who used to live in basically mud hut/cabin in the Marlborough hills (south isle, NZ) and I would have loved to send you guys some of his stuff as it was mainly handmade but overall very simple, but we only have a few things left so none to spare.

    I'd actually like the option to get a Wyrmwood tray with synthetic leather (or other synthetic material). I'd be willing to guess that a few people would like that as well. But then again, I don't have the money to buy stuff, vegan or not :/

    Let me be clear, I love all the wyrmwood folks, Jason included... that said, to ammend his statement, when he's critical and wrong, he's an asshole. Quinn was critical but not wrong... so it's charming. That's the difference.

    when Quinn critiques a piece its like watching an apex predator killing its prey, When Jason critiques things its more like a pack animal picking on a sick and dying of old age animal... It's not really that different it's just that Quinn is magnificent at it and you have to respect that.

It’s real leather on the cover and I stain the papers, then bind them all by hand. I’ll emboss your logo into the front too! It’ll take me a while because of covid and school and stuff, but it’s coming. But what colors, I’m wondering... 🤔

    please do NOT "kill that cow"... murdering an innocent animal for accessory aside, animal leather is an incredible environmental burden and wasting of precious resources
    you guys are wonderful and care very much for forests and trees, production of animal leather is just another big problem that is thankfully solved by modern technology. it's 21st century, we can replace nearly anything without harming others or ourselves. love u guys, but please don't kill that cow :')
    i'd give the person who sent the product with fake leather bonus points tbh. if you're reading this, your effort has been noted buddy!

      Sorry to say it but it actually is real leather that i source though a native small business hide maker though i would certainly use synthetics if i were commissioned by someone for it or just go straight hardwood. I love the look on naked inlays though they dont roll as much as something with more traction.
