Brings in 48 million to the economy the Reading Festival mostly attended by white middle class youngsters their were reported 23 sexual assaults reported in 2023 .
It will be interesting to see what the arrest and immediate imprisonment figures are, should there be any violence or police assaults
When I first came to London to live and work I passed Notting Hill Carnival in the taxi on the way to West London, my new home; in the many years that went by I lived in West London (and central) but was quite (carnival) shy of attending that particular event as it seemed to attract an element of gang rivalry and petty crime. I mean that's no invitation to partake in some other minorities' celebrations - I actually would have preferred to join in say, in a Diwali festival of lights or a Chinese New Year in Soho's China Town (I actually did once and it was fun and safe) - almost zero stabbings in those celebrations - I wonder why ?
Churchill's cousins from 48 ......😂😂😂😂..
Would you like to share with us the reasons why you moved to London in the first place? Have your overall experiences been positive? Where did you move from and why, exactly?
Good point Simon. I urge anyone who wants to see a methodical breakdown of how the police act in a two tier way, to watch the historian David Starkey’s recent podcast. Starkey, who himself was a victim of two tier morality does an excellent if somewhat funny job at it
It should be banned
😂😂
That time of year when people celebrate Africa and the Caribbean most of those attending have not been to either, maybe they should go.
Some of those Caribbean islands also don't have a deep history of Carnival either.
@@lonalxaia I believe it's only Trinidad that has a carnival.
@@englishciderlover7347 not just Trinidad solely. Historically it was the Catholic islands I.e the French Caribbean Islands or the former French colonies of the Caribbean.
I remember being in London with my parents on a trip in 1986 at the same time the Nottingham Hill Carnival was on. We got talking to a white punk girl at a bus stop and asked about the carnival - she strongly advised us not to go, saying it was too dangerous and locals knew to avoid it. That was nearly 40 years ago!
Further evidence of Two-tier policing, if any was needed!
Excellent comparison - wonderful event to use to contrast they way incidents are framed by media/police to "Nudge " the publics "Perception".
So glad you picked up on this most egregious example of 'two-tier' policing Simon. It is highly unlikely that this year's 'Stabbing Hill' Carnival will be any different given the evident impunity of the potential perps to anything remotely akin to equitable British justice.
Just ban it.
The once yearly Notting Hill Carnage
I had to grab my two young sons and run several years ago at Notting Hill carnival as an argument broke out beside us and one guy pulled a claw hammer out of his belt line and started trying to strike the person that had put us between him and the hammer guy. This was way before all the recent troubles - 2018! I told a cop and he just shrugged at me, even back then.
Puts things nicely in perspective. Two tier policing. Two tier judiciary. Disgraceful, unacceptable, and unsustainable.
It's obviously not their fault, it's just a cultural thing..........
What a sad state of affairs. This country continues to slid towards oblivion.
Couldn’t make this shit up
I wonder what dance routines the hollowed out Met Police will be performing this year? A decent tango maybe?....
If there's an Irish dance group available, they could do River of Blood Dance.
They are probably gearing up for strictly, just to ensure all runs smoothly......

I hope you're well. We need a voice of reasoning, like yourself.
Also, Good morning 🙂
Good morning and thank you.
I had a friend I worked with a few years ago,he was from Dunstable and he told me he was going to go the carnival.I was from Hackney in London and I had plenty of experience of what it’s like.I told him to be very careful. He would not listen to me and even said I was a little bit racist.Anyway I saw him in work on the Tuesday after it and he had a black eye. I asked him how he got on and he told me he and his mate were mugged twice and he got the black eye from the second mugging because he didn’t have anything of value on him because it was all taken from the first mugging.
Presumably, the whole experience taught your friend a very salutary lesson!
@@alexnelson9512 Never happened. Absolur & obvious BS
@@toneloc-cz2xi
You were there at the time?
@@toneloc-cz2xi As someone who lived 44 years in or near London, I'd say the account is 100% credible. If you're going to accuse someone of lying, you'd better have proof.

Black knives matter.
Yours is the best comment .
@@docbaron thanks but it's true the black community need to own it.
I returned from Ireland down the M4 on the last day of this event in 2022.At 1.30 am on that tuesday morning I was passed out near Hammersmith with the largest police convoy I have ever seen in London. They were obviously racing to join in the "fun".
Hmmm, i think Rowley is a hypocrite as well as being totally out of his depth.
Safe spaces for women? Is that what a carnival means in the UK? Women are not secure and need to be protected in specially designated zones. Safe from whom?
Safe from the far right Patriots who love this country. Nothing to do with any more “exotic” demographic, of course.
you are a very brave man simon, i hope the bastards dont come knocking on your door for your "far right "thoughts!
It's ok when it's 'tribal' 🤫🙄
Police no doubt told to keep arrest numbers to absolute bare minimum possible so as not to upset 'community leaders' or 'local spokespersons'.
"Kick a Copper" is this years Notting Hill Carnival top song!
Finding it hard to have sympathy for them though..
