As far as I know, a lot of the fans of Jujutsu Kaisen are wondering how its gonna end in 5 chapters, because apparently there's a lot going on. Which is different from My Hero Academia, cuz when it was anounced it would end in 5 chapters last month, the series was already in its epilogue.
Yeah I'm up to date and I had a conversation with a friend about 30 chapters behind about if they can wrap all the plot points up or not. I think they can since there are only about two sub plots still running, but I am also already braced for being wrong.
Honestly jjk has not been good for this couple of months so I don't even really care if it ends in the most unsatisfying way, I just want it to end and move on.
With the Jujutsu Kaisen's ending, to say it in a Cosmere way, we have been in a Sanderlanche for more than six months without clear signs of where the hell this was supposed to stop (an IMHO, a lot of the hype already drained), and suddenly Gege drop that in five chapters everything will be finished. Lucky for us, there are no enough characters alive that we could need a lot of chapters to end their plots, but that doesn't solve that we are still RIGHT NOW in the Sanderlanche.
I know there's a conversation about the Big 3 in manga and anime, but I did want to point out that it's a specific term for the three manga that carried shonen jump through a specific era -- one piece, Naruto, and bleach. Others may have been bigger in recent years, but the term was specifically intended for those three. "New big 3" or derivates therof make sense to refer to modern big shows, though
I've heard so many people trying to make an "equivalent" of the Big 3 for modern day anime or for other mediums (e.g.: The "Big 3" of Fantasy, the "Big 3" of Tv Shows, etc.) all of which ignores that it was a very specific thing for a very specific time. Anime is far more accessible and widely distributed now - in the era of the Big 3, anything not of the "Big 3" was fighting to get proper subtitles let alone a dub - now we get hundreds of new seasons from dozens of genres every month with subtitles on release and dubs about a week after the debut so it's practically impossible to recapture the atmosphere which caused the "Big 3" in the first place. And other mediums - like books, tv shows, etc. - never had the barriers the "Big 3" were overcoming in their way in the first place. Like the "Big 3" weren't even the biggest three anime at the time they were coming out, they just happened to be the three that really had the biggest impact on the pop culture in the Western World for about a decade (and even then, it could be argued Dragon Ball had a bigger pop culture impact overall but wasn't part of the "Big 3" because it had come out before them).
Jujutsu Kaisen is a very good read if you want a straight hands / combat story with a fantastic power system. The manga sacrifices worldbuilding for fast pacing and has its downsides, but its overall fucking great. That said, 5 chapters is a very quick tie up. I would have excepted maybe 10 ish, but i trust the one eyed cat Gege!
"Consume the Krueg" sounds like a mid-2000s ad slogan for a Freddy Krueger specialty food item (probably Bugles because you can put them on your finger tips and pretend you have his claw glove thing).

Apparently the next books in the Will of the Many series will all have this style of cover. Bit bummed about that myself, there are so many grey- and brownscale scifi covers like this that they kind of meld together. (Also they're obviously not going to match on the shelf when you have the regular edition of the first book.)

I'd say definitely pickup JJK after it ends, I've been curious how someone like you would absorb the series. It's super exciting and I think it lends itself extremely well to reading the work in full. We'll see how it ends, its always been a series I've seldom been able to predict on a week to week basis.
The voice acting thing seems crazy. It's like "Hey, take this money so we can replace you getting to interact with the content you would represent." Also, if the person dies, do they get to keep the voice? Even if the answer is no, who is enforcing that? Sounds like a great way to take advantage of people. Waaaay to many ethical concerns there. It's also wild that they are calling this a considerate pitch.
@@jrpgnation6375 No, it isn't. Human actors have remained an integral part of entertainment for all of human history. There is no reason replacing he human element in storytelling or advertising would be necessary for 'the future' in most cases imo. I think that AI has a place, and I hope some people submit their voices to be a part of the spaces that it makes sense to use it in like assistance or small business applications. But saying that its the future is incorrect. AI can't (and in certain instances shouldn't) do what a voice actor does. What they do shouldn't be sacrificed, it is an important part of the human experience.

Look at how far it has come in two years alone. Of course the human element will always exist somewhere somehow, but I wouldn't be surprised if in 50-70 years from now a lot of content will be completely AI generated with little human oversight.
@Seb_Falkor I think you're underestimating how much people enjoy creating, even if there is labor involved. Part of the entertaining is making it not just consumption. And yeah the cats out of the bag I'm not in disagreement with that. But like all good things there's a sweet spot of how much to use it. We can agree to disagree but I still think throwing a whole sector of the entertainment industry to be generated and just calling it 'the future' is short sighted.

I love Terry Brooks and I grew up on Shannara and Landover. I did feel his last couple books in the series seemed a little phoned in, but I hope this one will be good.
The 1st fantasy book I read was sword of Shannara in 7th grade. I wanted to look smart so I found the longest novel in the library that had a cool cover in the library. So I checked out the sword of Shannara, 794 pages the awesome hildebrandt brothers artwork. This started a life long love of reading and fantasy. My best friend in high school knew how much I loved Terry Brooks‘s novels so when I got Eagle Scout, he wrote to Terry Brooks, who sent me a handwritten letter congratulating me on getting Eagle Scout. Almost 30 years later, I still have it framed in my office

I'll be real, I don't get what the big deal is with the SAG-AFTRA contract. From what I understand this is just an option for voice actors that WANT to have their voice in an AI database, so that their voices can't be reused without their consent and to ensure they are properly paid whenever their voice gets used. How is this a bad thing? It's an opt in scenario, no one's voice will get used without their consent. There's this sentiment that "actors want to act" and I totally get that, but that's not the problem at hand here. These advertisers are GOING to use AI voices to cut costs, it simply will happen no matter how many actors want to do that voice acting for them. This contract at least ensures that when those AI voices are used, the actors that originated those voices are paid fairly and have given their consent to have their voice associated with the ad copy. I know we all hate the AI hellscape that we exist in, but I do not think SAG is out of line with this contract. Companies are going to do this shit no matter what, this way SAG is at least putting some protections in place for the voice actors companies are doing this to. Honestly it feels like, at least to me, that the Twitter crowd is a minority opinion that doesn't really get what's going on here.
Yeah same. I see Va's complaining about it. Unless I'm completely missing something, it seems like it's 100% optional, and the Va's get paid and asked every time before their voice is used in an ad, and the Va would know what is in said ad before it even happens. I get that not everyone is a fan of the whole Ai craze we're currently in and I can't blame them. As fun as it is to type stuff in a chat and watch the ai go insane, I can get that the Ai stuff is getting annoying and out of hand. I'll admit that I don't know anything on it, and the most I looked up was a quick search online. But from face value it doesn't seem that bad. Hi Daniel. Figured I'd try to give you a manga recommendation: Bakuman. While it is a shounen, it is a good way into seeing and learning how the industry works, from concept, to sketches, to completed pages and then the publishing side of things. Might be interesting for you if you want to learn more of how the manga industry operates, while reading a good story. It is made by the creators of Death Note, and it is completed.
I know the author was sharing some drawings for some time now, but is it really announced? With a date? Last time I heard about that (a year ago) it was said 3 new chapters are being prepared, but as far as im aware we didn't get anything

It gives me the confidence to start posting videos on Anime/Manga as well, which I've been wanting to do for a long time but wasn't sure if it would work for my Channel which is mostly focused on Fantasy Shows (Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon etc.)

I'm not sure how to feel about Jujutsu Kaisen Ending. From the rumors I've heard, my Favorite JJK character is already gone. I thought I had had enough trauma with Game of Thrones and House of the Dragons, but Jujutsu Kaisen decided to add more to that list. At least we can feel happy that some of the fan favorites MIGHT get to live peacefully after the series ends...
I aboslutely adore jjk to death and i have full faith in gege akutami to bring it to a close in a satsfying manner, all the recent stuff has been absoutley amazing and climatic. Its for sure not ur type of series so i doubt u will try it! but yeah its amazing for its fights, its character work, its buddhist themes etc so much to dig into
Wish i had the talent, imagination and determination to write but it's not for me! That's great! I fell in love with the World of Shannara, it's a good reason to get black there!
As a fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, I think it's about time the story wrapped up. The final fight's been going on for a while now and has been getting repetitive. Though there's still one fight we haven't seen.
Jujutsu kaisen is for the Shonen fans that like a power system and a lot of fights. if you want depth in world or characters out of that series. you have to reach (aside from maybe 2 or 3 characters MAYBE)

I understand its a flashy series and that allows you to miss a lot of the subtext but storytelling through action isn’t any less valuable than storytelling through any other means.

In addition to voice actors negotiating AI, currently the Animation Guild, the largest animation union is renegotiating their contract. The AI clause in the proposed new contract is not up to snuff, so it has not been ratified yet. A week ago Saturday, 2,000 people from the animation industry rallied to raise awareness regarding AI and the rapid implosion of the animation industry this year (widespread outsourcing to nonunion studios, cancellations and mass layoffs, job creep, low wages, no greenlit projects). It's something that affects the whole animation industry right now, not just animators, as some people like to report. I know it's not precisely fantasy related, but it's sort of related to the voice acting news and will affect a lot of fantasy-related animation!

Jujustu Kaisen is legitimately great. It’s such a tight, low-fat plot. And it’s got great characters. And, hands down has 2-3 of the best fights I’ve ever seen in any medium. One is basically like 30 chapters of Helm’s Deep level back and forth advantage swapping that’s hype the whole way through. Right now is the perfect time to start. I have faith in Gege being able to pull these last 5 chapters off, but we’ll see what happens.
While surely sudden, I don't find the news of jjk ending in five chapters that surprising. We knew since 2023 that jjk would most probably end this year, so the final chapter coming out at the end of September seems a logical date, especially considering how much the final battle has lasted. As for the state we are right now, five chapters seems a bit tight, but not that rushed for me. The villain has been getting some major blows in the later chapters, so it seems reasonable for the fight to end in the next (let's say) three chapters following the common motif: One chapter learning what's up with the reveal of the latest panel and the villain trying to stop it One chapter the protagonist executing the final step of the plan/dealing the last blow One chapter for the end of the fight/death of the villain (I'm not predicting that this is the way it will go, I'm just showing that it's achievable) This leaves two chapters for the epilogue, a bit short, but not surprising considering the past of jjk, with Gege usually wrapping things quickly after the end of a fight. The two major complains of the fans are : that a very popular side character has been fighting for thirty chapters a side villain off screen and it's apparent we will see almost nothing of that battle and That a major threat, which many fans were speculating we would see materialise, will obviously not come to pass (since it would require more than five chapters) (personally I am fine this will not happen, since I think it would require either a huge last minute power up of the characters or a backdoor, which do not seem so exciting prospects) That is my current view of the announcement, but I'm half expecting to be surprised by Gege (either in a good or bad way)
Ok so I don’t know if you take recommendations but here it goes If you haven’t already been recommended it I highly recommend reading the Japanese light novel series Ascendance of a Bookworm by Miya Kazuki translated by Quof and published by J-novel club In my humble opinion it’s world building it up there with Tolkien potentially It is my favorite Fantasy book series so it’d be nice to add to the amount of people reading it It’s also the first book series I’ve come across where it is divided into parts almost like Seasons for a tv series Outside of the 33 books there are several books that have collected short story chapters that come from many other characters points of view besides the main character Anyways here’s hoping you see this comment have a great day Part 1 (Daughter of a soldier )covers books 1-3 Part 2 is books 4-7 Part 3 is books 8-12 Part 4 is books 13-21 Part 5 is books 22-33
To answer your question the five chapters left reveal basically confirmed. We’re not having a certain ending plot point happen. However, I’m personally fine with that. And yes you should read this story.
Where's Lin Carter? Say what you want about The Sword of Shannara , but it was the first fantasy book I read as a kid and it and Terry Brooks will always hold a special place in my heart.

As a person who has read JJK for years, I think JJK wrapping up in 5 chapters is totally possible. Will there be loose ends? Absolutely, but I think how much those loose ends being loose ends matters to people, depends on how much investment they put in them. I don’t think any of the loose ends will be a negative impact to the narrative and story, atleast in my opinion
Wow that's short for JJK, I was not expecting that manga to finish so soon. Same thing has happened with MHA, though that one seemed a little more natural. I would recommend reading either MHA or JJK, though prepare for pain from both (though JJK is far more brutal). It does feel strange how these two big heavy weights of the genre are coming to an end, makes me wonder what will take their places on the pedestal.
I know I'm probably not the first one to nitpick here, but "The Big Three" is not a title for the three biggest manga at the moment. It refers to the three manga that filled the void in Shonen Jump after... I believe it was after the original DragonBall run ended, but I'm not entirely sure. Some DragonBall run. So yeah, the Big Three with capital letters are Naruto, One Piece and Bleach and unless time machines are invented, no one can change that.
I’m going to be catching up with the jjk manga just to see the shitshow that will inevitably happen when it ends. There’s no way 5 chapters is going to be enough especially when gege has a track record of not following up on a lot of his setups
Really crazy comparing the length of the big 3 to the length of the new gen anime they inspired. Manga, especially back then, is very taxing to make so it always is super cool to me. Also of course Toriyama the GOAT.
Dream Warriors is genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time. The sequels really go downhill after that (although I didn't hate The Dream Child) but GOD, Dream Warriors just has the sauce
The thing I would say about Jujutsu Kaisen is that as My Hero Academia was going through its final arc, people kept suggesting stuff that had MHA fans snarking that MHA isn't JJK. Make of that what you will.
Not that I could have even remotely afforded the Neuromancer folio, but man I want that. I do plan on eventually buying the signed Easton Press edition coming in a much more affordable $150, which is still very expensive. As someone who was not impressed with the first season of RoP outside of the visuals, I am remaining hopeful for S2. Just as I wanted to really like S1, I really want to like S2, and I am tired of people thinking I'm some insane culture warrior when I say I am not a fan of S1 even though my critiques are not at all political.

I love Terry Brooks and I grew up on Shannara and Landover. I did feel his last couple books in the series seemed a little phoned in, but I hope this one will be good.

The 1st fantasy book I read was sword of Shannara in 7th grade. I wanted to look smart so I found the longest novel in the library that had a cool cover in the library. So I checked out the sword of Shannara, 794 pages the awesome hildebrandt brothers artwork. This started a life long love of reading and fantasy. My best friend in high school knew how much I loved Terry Brooks‘s novels so when I got Eagle Scout, he wrote to Terry Brooks, who sent me a handwritten letter congratulating me on getting Eagle Scout. Almost 30 years later, I still have it framed in my office

I'll be real, I don't get what the big deal is with the SAG-AFTRA contract. From what I understand this is just an option for voice actors that WANT to have their voice in an AI database, so that their voices can't be reused without their consent and to ensure they are properly paid whenever their voice gets used. How is this a bad thing?
It's an opt in scenario, no one's voice will get used without their consent. There's this sentiment that "actors want to act" and I totally get that, but that's not the problem at hand here. These advertisers are GOING to use AI voices to cut costs, it simply will happen no matter how many actors want to do that voice acting for them. This contract at least ensures that when those AI voices are used, the actors that originated those voices are paid fairly and have given their consent to have their voice associated with the ad copy.
I know we all hate the AI hellscape that we exist in, but I do not think SAG is out of line with this contract. Companies are going to do this shit no matter what, this way SAG is at least putting some protections in place for the voice actors companies are doing this to. Honestly it feels like, at least to me, that the Twitter crowd is a minority opinion that doesn't really get what's going on here.
Yeah same. I see Va's complaining about it. Unless I'm completely missing something, it seems like it's 100% optional, and the Va's get paid and asked every time before their voice is used in an ad, and the Va would know what is in said ad before it even happens.
I get that not everyone is a fan of the whole Ai craze we're currently in and I can't blame them. As fun as it is to type stuff in a chat and watch the ai go insane, I can get that the Ai stuff is getting annoying and out of hand.
I'll admit that I don't know anything on it, and the most I looked up was a quick search online. But from face value it doesn't seem that bad. But i'm open to be wrong about it due to my limited knowledge on it

While it is a shounen, it is a good way into seeing and learning how the industry works, from concept, to sketches, to completed pages and then the publishing side of things. Might be interesting for you if you want to learn more of how the manga industry operates, while reading a good story. It is made by the creators of Death Note, and it is completed.

I LOVE how the Majority of the Comments here are about Jujutsu Kaisen or Manga in General. It gives me the confidence to start posting videos on Anime/Manga as well, which I've been wanting to do for a long time but wasn't sure if it would work for my Channel which is mostly focused on Fantasy Shows (Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon etc.)

I'm not sure how to feel about Jujutsu Kaisen Ending. From the rumors I've heard, my Favorite JJK character is already gone. I thought I had had enough trauma with Game of Thrones and House of the Dragons, but Jujutsu Kaisen decided to add more to that list.
At least we can feel happy that some of the fan favorites MIGHT get to live peacefully after the series ends...

I aboslutely adore jjk to death and i have full faith in gege akutami to bring it to a close in a satsfying manner, all the recent stuff has been absoutley amazing and climatic. Its for sure not ur type of series so i doubt u will try it! but yeah its amazing for its fights, its character work, its buddhist themes etc so much to dig into

As a fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, I think it's about time the story wrapped up. The final fight's been going on for a while now and has been getting repetitive.
Though there's still one fight we haven't seen.

Jujutsu kaisen is for the Shonen fans that like a power system and a lot of fights. if you want depth in world or characters out of that series. you have to reach (aside from maybe 2 or 3 characters MAYBE)

I understand its a flashy series and that allows you to miss a lot of the subtext but storytelling through action isn’t any less valuable than storytelling through any other means.

If you want to get into Jujutsu Kaisen, I would suggest watching the anime for sure. It is very hype and you'll know if you are going to be interested in that style sooner IMO.
Jjk did not live up to my expectations, was a great fun ride though, fights are incredible.

In addition to voice actors negotiating AI, currently the Animation Guild, the largest animation union is renegotiating their contract. The AI clause in the proposed new contract is not up to snuff, so it has not been ratified yet. A week ago Saturday, 2,000 people from the animation industry rallied to raise awareness regarding AI and the rapid implosion of the animation industry this year (widespread outsourcing to nonunion studios, cancellations and mass layoffs, job creep, low wages, no greenlit projects). It's something that affects the whole animation industry right now, not just animators, as some people like to report.
I know it's not precisely fantasy related, but it's sort of related to the voice acting news and will affect a lot of fantasy-related animation!

Jujustu Kaisen is legitimately great. It’s such a tight, low-fat plot. And it’s got great characters.
And, hands down has 2-3 of the best fights I’ve ever seen in any medium. One is basically like 30 chapters of Helm’s Deep level back and forth advantage swapping that’s hype the whole way through.
Right now is the perfect time to start. I have faith in Gege being able to pull these last 5 chapters off, but we’ll see what happens.

While surely sudden, I don't find the news of jjk ending in five chapters that surprising. We knew since 2023 that jjk would most probably end this year, so the final chapter coming out at the end of September seems a logical date, especially considering how much the final battle has lasted.
As for the state we are right now, five chapters seems a bit tight, but not that rushed for me. The villain has been getting some major blows in the later chapters, so it seems reasonable for the fight to end in the next (let's say) three chapters following the common motif:
One chapter learning what's up with the reveal of the latest panel and the villain trying to stop it
One chapter the protagonist executing the final step of the plan/dealing the last blow
One chapter for the end of the fight/death of the villain
(I'm not predicting that this is the way it will go, I'm just showing that it's achievable)
This leaves two chapters for the epilogue, a bit short, but not surprising considering the past of jjk, with Gege usually wrapping things quickly after the end of a fight.
The two major complains of the fans are :
that a very popular side character has been fighting for thirty chapters a side villain off screen and it's apparent we will see almost nothing of that battle and
That a major threat, which many fans were speculating we would see materialise, will obviously not come to pass (since it would require more than five chapters) (personally I am fine this will not happen, since I think it would require either a huge last minute power up of the characters or a backdoor, which do not seem so exciting prospects)
That is my current view of the announcement, but I'm half expecting to be surprised by Gege (either in a good or bad way)

In my humble opinion it’s world building it up there with Tolkien potentially
It is my favorite Fantasy book series so it’d be nice to add to the amount of people reading it
It’s also the first book series I’ve come across where it is divided into parts almost like Seasons for a tv series
Outside of the 33 books there are several books that have collected short story chapters that come from many other characters points of view besides the main character

To answer your question the five chapters left reveal basically confirmed. We’re not having a certain ending plot point happen. However, I’m personally fine with that. And yes you should read this story.
Where's Lin Carter? Say what you want about The Sword of Shannara , but it was the first fantasy book I read as a kid and it and Terry Brooks will always hold a special place in my heart.

As a person who has read JJK for years, I think JJK wrapping up in 5 chapters is totally possible. Will there be loose ends? Absolutely, but I think how much those loose ends being loose ends matters to people, depends on how much investment they put in them. I don’t think any of the loose ends will be a negative impact to the narrative and story, atleast in my opinion
Wow that's short for JJK, I was not expecting that manga to finish so soon. Same thing has happened with MHA, though that one seemed a little more natural. I would recommend reading either MHA or JJK, though prepare for pain from both (though JJK is far more brutal). It does feel strange how these two big heavy weights of the genre are coming to an end, makes me wonder what will take their places on the pedestal.

I know I'm probably not the first one to nitpick here, but "The Big Three" is not a title for the three biggest manga at the moment. It refers to the three manga that filled the void in Shonen Jump after... I believe it was after the original DragonBall run ended, but I'm not entirely sure. Some DragonBall run.
So yeah, the Big Three with capital letters are Naruto, One Piece and Bleach and unless time machines are invented, no one can change that.

Really crazy comparing the length of the big 3 to the length of the new gen anime they inspired. Manga, especially back then, is very taxing to make so it always is super cool to me. Also of course Toriyama the GOAT.

Dream Warriors is genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time. The sequels really go downhill after that (although I didn't hate The Dream Child) but GOD, Dream Warriors just has the sauce
The thing I would say about Jujutsu Kaisen is that as My Hero Academia was going through its final arc, people kept suggesting stuff that had MHA fans snarking that MHA isn't JJK. Make of that what you will.

As someone who was not impressed with the first season of RoP outside of the visuals, I am remaining hopeful for S2. Just as I wanted to really like S1, I really want to like S2, and I am tired of people thinking I'm some insane culture warrior when I say I am not a fan of S1 even though my critiques are not at all political.
