Man I totally agree with you about momentum. I had high hopes, and I got their titanium version. Lo and behold the date wheel stops moving. Now it's always Tuesday. Such a pain...
my sea quartz also misses the indices but the bezel is ok, my UDT is pretty good all around,, lime is is week but I have no issues reading it in the middle of the night. My Sea Auto, that they released has been great. Bezel is good, solid 9 SERIES MIyota auto movement. Seems to have a bit better fit and finish as well. They just have the look that I like therefore lots of wrist time
I had the same experience, ordered a Sea Quartz 30, had a quality control issue, in my case the bezel was jammed tight, could barely turn it, was very unhappy about that, especially at that price point, for $300+ I expect a new watch to not have flaws like that, returned it. Took that same $300 to AliExpress, ordered a gorgeous San Martin for $50 less than the Sea Quartz and it's superior in every single way.
It really is a shame that their QC is really just not up to snuff. The competent watches coming from Aliexpress, and companies like San Martin are really quite impressive these days.
@@DannyOhana All it takes is one big element to be done poorly to kill the desire for something. I really wanted to like the SQ30/UDT, but the poor execution really killed it for me.
Thanks for the video. I'd like to point out, however, that it's impossible to get better fit of a movement against dial; because both of them usually have fixed mounts. It's about position of gears inside a movement - if you're lucky, seconds hand hits markers, if you're not, it's not. They don't do anything special to achieve better alignment for this money, it's pure luck.
Their watches are underwhelming from my experience. I picked up one of their quartz M20 GMT divers. The chapter ring was badly misaligned. The lume pip on the bezel came off a few weeks after purchase. I flipped it at a loss on eBay.
The UDT would be much thicker movement with a backlight..and specs do not say it has backlight...so not sure why it was purchased only then to criticize it doesn't have one? Also, the lack of a second hand...pretty sure the buyer is aware it doesn't have one BEFORE purchase...so not sure what your point is?
The comment about the second hand is merely that without one, I don’t need to worry about alignment for hitting the indices. No second hand, no poor fitment. I was fully aware that the watch had no backlight nor second hand when I placed my order half a year ago. The backlight comment is me stating that with the poor lume and no backlight, the watch is unwearable for me at night. I am aware that they avoided a backlight to make the watch thinner, but they then needed to put more lume on the hands and indices to make up for avoiding a backlight. I’m an informed buyer (and want other people to be informed) which is why I made this video. Momentum may put a lack of a second hand and no backlight on the product page, but they don’t disclose the crap lume.
I don't expect perfection with a quartz watch and indices, but I do expect a better fitment from the movement to the dial. I've owned much cheaper watches that do this. Your bezel tight and mine being loose are of the same issue, poor quality control. It's really a shame.
@ I agree on the bezel and partially agree on the second hand. Yea, I have much cheaper quartz that hit the mark but I also have more expensive Swiss made that miss the marks. I honestly believe it’s just dumb luck if your quartz second hand hits the markers.
I have to hold my hand above the watch to spin yhe bezel. If i try and do it from the side it gets jammed up. Zero sympathy or help from the company. They said i could ship it back and pay for repairs the first week i got it
Truth be told, I think that all of the sequels are pretty bad. First Blood is a really amazing film, everything after it really has no reason to exist.
I'd certainly disagree about microbrands. There are plenty of great ones out there, ones who do put an emphasis on the quality control. Despite my gripes with the Momentums, they actually worked when I got them, which is something that I cannot say about the Seiko.
Ah man... I had such high hopes for them... 0/2 today then...🥲 In Afrikaans we have a saying. "Mooi van ver en ver van mooi" meaning that it looks great from afar but the closer you look more you realize all is not what it seems. Yeah you are right... 300 bucks is a lot of money. Take care man!
Thanks for the kind words, and for the new saying! It is a shame that Momentum kind of dropped the ball. It wouldn't kill Momentum to do a little more finishing work before sending the watches out of the door.

Great review, theres another company re making the Magnum watch, theres a story there
I have 3 and have zero issues.

Like yourself, I really wanted to like it, it's a good looking watch, and it's Magnum's watch, but that glaring flaw soured me.

Yeah, it's really a massive bummer. Both of these Momentums will be listed online pretty soon too.

Second hand not hitting the markers…. Welcome to quartz. And I find it funny that your SQ30 bezel is loose because mine is way too tight.

I'll stick to my Casio 630 waveceptors.

That's really just horrible customer service. I'm sorry to hear about that.
If you think Rambo 3 is the worst Rambo then you haven't seen Last Blood 🤣
Truth be told, I think that all of the sequels are pretty bad. First Blood is a really amazing film, everything after it really has no reason to exist.
I couldn’t agree more. Great video, man.
Sorry you are not happy with yours - mine is great - way better than what I was anticipating and I am picky…
I am sure they are.
Arnie > Stallone
Couldn't agree more! First Blood is one of my favorite movies of all time, but Terminator 2 is even more favorite-er.
Microbrands suck. You should use your Seiko and stop dissing them.
Not all Microbrands suck and not all Seikos are worth the money.

This is just an ignorant and lost statement.

@@Paul_Whaley That sounds like a great suggestion otherwise they will kill their own "momentum" before its even begun. 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry for the terrible pun.
