    In the quilting section of your local craft store, you will find clear rulers that are used with rotary cutters that would be perfect to keep you from cutting and nicking your cards. You could even use a rotary cutter to trim them.

    The Fabri-Tac gets thick about halfway down the bottle after all the times it’s been opened and the minute amounts of evaporation each time has added up. Since it is acetone based which makes the glue dry fast which I like, I add a little acetone to my bottle and swish it around to fully mix and this stops the volcano oozing out frustration and waste.✌️🙏🇨🇦❤️

    You've inspired me to try trimming my witches tarot deck. Wish I could show a pic here but I used my cricut joy to do it and was mostly successful, ruined 1 card when my mat lost its sticky and other were a little off kilter but I'm mostly happy with my first attempt. This is so cool! Quick question: for the contact papers that might be prone to shrinking, could you just leave some overhang and wait a week or so before trimming? It would be annoying leaving it sitting out like that, but pre-shrinking might work and fix some of the issues you had.

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  2 роки тому

      Yes, that is defiantly something I do now when I'm working with contact paper that I think might shrink. I apply it with lots of overhang and wait a while before trimming to allow any shrinkage to happen.

    Would you recommend doing the edging first and then applying the contact paper?

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  4 роки тому +3

      I usually apply the contact paper first because it does have a bit of an edge itself. Then I edge the whole thing at the end. Some contact paper can be a bit more challenging to edge (it can be a remain a little tacky for a bit even on the edges.) So sometimes it's helpful to use the deck a little after you put the paper on it, let that tackiness wear away and then edge it. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  5 років тому

      I don't know if edging helps protect the edges at all, but it can help the wear to not be so noticable depending on the color (or if it is noticeable you can touch it up when it wears which I like to do.) 😊 Plus, I think it just makes them look pretty.

      @DawnMichelleTarot  5 років тому

      I am so glad you enjoyed it! Yes, generally I edge after I reback the cards in contact paper. I don't have any particular brand that I recommend over another, however I have had the best success with those ones you just buy at your local home store (Duck, Contact brand, etc) over some of the fancier or off-named brands online. I would highly recommend doing a test card first if you are working with a contact paper you haven't used before so that you can get a feel for how it applies and look for shrinkage. I hope that helps! 🙂

    • @mysticalfusions
      @mysticalfusions 5 років тому +1

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  5 років тому

      @@mysticalfusions honestly I think it was more of a day or two. From what I have read things like heat and cold during application can effect as well, but I've only had two types of contact paper do this to me and I've got a dozen or so more that I've used successfully. So it's a small chance, but I think people should be aware it can happen. You can also do a quick search for the brand you bought and see if anyone has experienced any shrinking, that's how I discovered this issue. Chances are, it will probably be fine as people do this all time. 🙂 Good luck with it and let me know how it turns out! ❤️

    If I were to replace the backs on My rider waite deck . After apply the contact paper..
    I would score the lines around the cards ,that way I will get clean lines...
    what are your thoughts ,Boho?

    Can you recommend brands of contact paper that you have used? 😊

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  3 роки тому +1

      That's a hard one to answer because the same brand will work differently on different cardstock. So no two decks will be exactly the same (unless they have the same cardstock) but in general, I've had good luck with the Duck brand and the Magic Cover brand of papers. I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

    Could you clean a corner rounder that was used on rebacked card using the adhesive backed contact paper by cleaning with alcohol or Goo Gone or another solvent?

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  4 роки тому

      You might be able to but I have yet to actually try it. I think if you took it apart you might be able to. I just keep a separate one for using on the decks with contact paper. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️

    Where can I find a variety of contact paper? Also is there a different type of adhesive that could be used that you would recommend?

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  3 роки тому

      I have only ever used mod podge on my decks as an adhesive and sealer so I wouldn't have any other recommendations. Locally I find the biggest variety of contact paper at my local home & hardware store like a Lowes or Home Depot. You can also find a huge variety online at places like Amazon. I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

      Do you still use fabritac glue?

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  3 роки тому

      I do but generally only when I'm working with heavy cardstock or fabric. Most of the time I use glue stick for plain paper. I've not tried Fabri-tac on contact paper or anything, but it does work well for mixed media work. I hope that helps!

    Hey! I was wondering what brand of clear contact paper you purchased? Every product I've come across says it's removable. I want to re-back a deck using scrapbook paper and the clear adhesive contact paper. Your help would be greatly appreciated :)

      @@DawnMichelleTarot Hmm every duck brand one I've come across says it's removable... I wonder if it works just as well and you can remove it but it would leave a ton of residue or something.. hmm

      I also then found your video about the tools you use after asking this of course haha

    • @DawnMichelleTarot

      It might be removable, it doesn't say on mine. I've actually never tried to remove it from the cards as I mostly use it to just hold paper collage in place. To be honest, I haven't shuffled a deck with the removable stuff on it. I accidentally used removable on my Mary El and ended up having to glue all the corners down. But I think that could have been because the cardstock was super glossy. I think it would depend on what type of card stock you have too. 🙂

      @@DawnMichelleTarot Well I'm going to go ahead and give it the old 'College try" I'm super excited. It will be my first full mod I'm doing The Raven's prophecy tarot since when it's trimmed the backs leave something to be desired. I picked up some scrapbooking papers in Marble, watercolor, and spray paint. I'm hoping the contact paper in clear just sticks to the glued scrapbook paperbacks and doesn't decide to slowly but surely remove itself.

      and do you have a pencil recommandation for writing ON the card.

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  3 роки тому +1

      Overtime you just to get to know them as you work with them, but to help with that initial process, I actually made a journal for the deck that has the artwork and titles so that I can reference that if I can't remember what is what. I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

    • @DawnMichelleTarot

      I've not actually written on my cards with pencil, I would think that it would smudge right off as soon as you started handling them. I have seen people use removable labels on their decks to temporarily write on their cards. Then they can carefully peel it away once they don't need the titles anymore. I have never done it personally, but I hear it works well. Although I'd test it out before doing the whole deck to make sure it actually comes off without ruining the cards. 🙂

    Do you recommend any one brand if contact paper over another?

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  5 років тому +5

      So far the main brands that I have found that work well are Duck (I've only used their clear one tho) and Kittrich (for the wood grains.) The one that shrank so bad on me was Yifely and I avoid that brand now. As I work more with other brands (bought a few new ones recently) I will let you all know. 😊 Hope that helps!

    I just looked on Etsy and you can find some really pretty contact paper on there. I was wondering about removable wallpaper. Way more options. Anyone try it yet?
    -Edit- I just saw the part about adjustable contact paper, so maybe no.

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  4 роки тому +1

      I've never used wallpaper, but I found the removable contact paper had to be glued down to stay put. It might adhere better to a more matte deck, but on the glossier ones, it lifts right back up. Hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

      Sometimes it's just to put a new design on the back of the cards and sometimes it's to cover up a back that didn't come out great in a trim. Most often it's probably used to strengthen flimsy cards, it gives them more structure and substance. I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
