I'm gladly admit I'm a 'Su-metal fan boy', she is something else, especially considering her age. Yes, she was about 16 and a half years old here.
What I always think: what was I doing at age 16 ? Not performing perfectly at the 'Madison Square Garden of Japan', 2 days sold out, that's for sure.

Great reaction. Looks like all your questions were already answered so I will just eulogise on Su-metal's prowess, coming out from under the stage, rising up on her small platform, all lights on her so seeing the edge of the platform will have been nigh on impossible, but she just takes over the stage, does her dance moves and sings what is one of their darkest songs lyrically.
She was only 16 here - and not only following that Kami Band intro, also ruling the stage once she is there. Is there any wonder we call her Queen Su.🤘🦊🤘

You still need to watch Akatsuki at Budokan Black Night from the first album, it's one of their best performances to date. HEAD123456 has a great 4K remaster: "BabyMetal - Akatsuki Live Budokan BLACK NIGHT 4K(Video Remastered+HQ Audio)"

Thanks for keep following our suggestions and coming back with more BM songs.
_Akumu No Rondo_ combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile beautiness that makes you wants to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare.
Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity.
Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, you can hear an example of this in the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk"
The Kami Band doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou.
This night were: Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Mikio Fujioka-sama isn't in this night.(R.I.P. kogami)
Many people forget this was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen of times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart.
But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately.
YuppeMetal (aka Yuyoyuppe) is the one behind this song and he took inspiration from "Protest The Hero - Bloodmeat" song, of course i recommend you to hear that
Thanks for sharing this wonderful SuMetal solo and my favorite along with _"Akatsuki"_ Keep watching all their solos because all 4 of them are beautiful and of course the rest of the girls under a subgroup called "Black Babymetal" are enjoyable too, so don't miss out their other 4 songs too.
Put your kitsune up and see you next time.🦊🤘🔥

As you have been already told, Mikio was not part of this live performance. He was Takayoshi Ohmura's (gold guitar) sensei and best fiend. Ohmura usually honors his friend by playing his most famous guitar, an SNAPPER-7 Fujioka Custom (Vintage Burgundy Mist) aka Burgundy-tan, during BABYMETAL (and non BABYMETAL) shows.
Yes, Su-metal was 16 years old when this was filmed. It was only two and a half months after "Legend 1997". Not to mention that this was the second time they performed this song live, being the song's premiere the previous night at the same venue. It's really impressive.

Actually the guitarist with the golden guitar here (Takayoshi Ohmura) normally playes his pink one. And Mikio, who passed away can be easily recognized cuz he has such a warm smile and of course his incredible whammy bar actions. He too had his own ESP Snapper custom, which looked like the Pink-chan, just not sparkly and a bit more orange and of course had a whammy bar. After Mikio's passing you sometimes even saw Takayoshi Ohmura playing Mikio's guitar, because they were close friends and Mikio was his mentor too. Greets from Germany and stay safe!

BABYMETAL returned to Budokan in 2021 and performed 10 shows on 5 back-to-back nights in January, February, March and April.
Just to orient you in the timeline, Su turned 16 the day before the 'LEGEND 1997' concert on December 21st, 2013.
This Budokan Black Night show was on March 2nd, 2014, so she was still 16.
'Rondo of Nightmare' had it's world debut the night before, at the Budokan Red Night show on March 1st.

Yes it is generally believed by professional singers/reactors she IS doing this live - there are other examples like the recent 10 Budokan shows where clearly she CAN produce a wide range of vocal effects naturally by how she holds the mic and positions it and her body.
Another comment on her breathe control I saw recently by a professional singer was when they realised she was doing the song LYING DOWN for the first half.

Great & Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。"Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.

Enough people have commented on the quiet verse I would like to add my comments, and I will start by stating the Kobametal is the *grand* master of post-production.
I believe in this performance the quiet verse was on the backing track. Su- pulls the mic out of position and stops moving her mouth before the verse ends in order to set up to come back in with the chorus. It is that way on the BD. Su- has never been able to maintain mic discipline when lip syncing although it is topnotch when actually singing. It is conceivable that she sang live at the venue and because of the mic mishandling the studio track for the verse was overlaid in post-production for the BD/DVD. Because she had briefly discussed the technique in an interview, I do believe she used nasal resonance in the studio.
I would be interested in what other performance has a different story.

    That's Metal.

About the guitarists, usually Babymetal has 3 guitarists available, and uses 2 out of this 3. At that time the 3 were Leda Cygnus (Black Guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (Gold or often pink glittering guitar), and MIkio (RIP, he is not in this video). After MIkio, they added ISAO on the rotation, and he is being playing all the most recent shows together with Ohmura!
"Is she actually singing quietly in that part?"
There is a controversy about this, some people say yes and others say no. But I can say there are some recordings of her In Ear Monitor on UA-cam, and there should also be one for Rondo of Nightmare, and you can hear her voice in that!
THere is also another musician who says there is a technique were you press the mic on the nose to get that nasal effect, so she might be doing it live!
Other unskippable songs from first album before moving one? I would says each one and every one 🤣🤣
    Most notably:
    - Akatsuki, live at Budokan Black Night (You reacted to the Unfinished version, you don't want to miss the original version!)
    - "Onedari Daisakusen" live at Budokan Black Night or at Legend 1997, both good both safe (You reacted to a SU solo, now you need a reaction to a BlackBabymetal song, with only Yui and Moa! With their super Kawainess!)
    - "Song 4" live at Budokan Black Night (Another BlackBabymetal song, the only one were Moa and Yui are credited as Lyrics)
    - "Uki Uki Midnight" live at Budokan Black Night (Want to hear some more dubstep? :D)
    - "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" live at Sonisphere (Anti - bullying song, first Festival show outside Japan, first big crowd outside Japan, first time in UK)
    Bonus song:
    - "Kimi to Anime Ga Mitai" live at Budokan Black Night (Super cool and Kawaii song, it's a cover from the band Kiba of Akiba, with whom they did an early collaboration)

There's a lot of discussion if she sang that part with an effect, consensus is that it's a recording, I believe she sang it. There is another concert on DVD where they missed taking the effect off and it was on for a second when Su went back to the chorus. If you look at what Su is doing, she is bending her neck constricting her vocal folds, and has the bottom of the mic pressed up against her nose, catching the sound coming through her nasal passages. Also with an effect on. Totally cool
Also Su does sing very high, check out From Duck to Dawn, you will be amazed. But, Su does something I appreciate in a vocalist - she knows she is singing every night, and she only records notes she can produce every night. Also it saves her voice. Songs like From Dusk to Dawn are so on the edge she could injure her voice if she sang it every night. So she doesn't

I’m convinced that she is lip-syncing to that one bit where her voice sounds like it’s going through a filter of some kind. It’s identical to the studio recording, and if you see it enough times, it’s always exactly the same. BABYMETAL does use pre-recorded vocals, in very specific spots like that. She’s still giving the most amazing live performance you could possibly find anywhere.

ISAO replaced Mikio. Ohmura is almost always on stage. Leda is still considered a regular.
17:38 How? How Su does that is a very good question. All we know is she does that live. Some people say it were because she's pressing her nose to the mic, which she did during this performance. Only she did not the day before.
She was 16 years old during this concert. Vocal lessons started at age 7. That's one reason she was that good at such a young age. Another reason is raw talent I guess.

Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte....
Love watching the drummer Hideki in this, when the camera pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the machine like pounding in the background with the double kicks. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. Since you like Budokan, you should checkout Akatsuki in the same venue, and as a two parter, you should then do Akatsuki Unfinished. Unfinished is basically a stripped down version of the song, where its only just Su and a piano ..... So far you've mostly heard Babymetal's rock/metal side....Its time you take a walk to the Ballad section....You have Akatsuki Unfinished and No Rain No Rainbow (preferably from Legend S XX concert) to tug at your heart strings. 🤘🦊🤘

    KamiBand:-
"The KamiBand are the instrumentalists (or backing band) in BABYMETAL - Each member is a "god (Kami) of music" summoned by The Fox God stage by stage. All the Kamis have their own jobs and side-projects in addition to BABYMETAL".

It contains two concerts performed at Nippon Budokan shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album, and was released on January 7, 2015 in a standard edition and a limited-edition box set exclusively for "The One" fanclub members.

    Lyrics Overview:-
"Rondo Of Nightmare (悪夢の輪舞曲; Akumu No Rondo)"

    [English:]
The waning moon has lit up
the insanity rampant in the shade
    The laughter resounds around
It bares its fangs and its eyes gleam
    I can’t escape from it
    It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind
A nightmare rondo is being repeated
    The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight
I can do nothing but run
    through the darkness
In the woods, in the fountain
I hide myself holding my breath
but it’s still coming closer to me
A stagnant voice. An endless night
    Ah…
If I can no longer get out of here
won’t you show me your figure?
    It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind
A nightmare rondo is being repeated
    The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight
I can do nothing but fall
    into the darkness
This song Su-Metal brings you to the dark side and tells you a story thru the journey and it enticed you.

I saw someone in another reaction say that Su achieves that quiet whispery part by turning the microphone upside down, jamming it up her nose and singing into it the "wrong way". I have no clue if this is true or not, though.

I’m more impressed with a singer who can sustain a note than one who seems to need to add a lot of tremolo/modulation to carry it. Too much of that often annoys me and just makes me think they can’t hold a note.

After the last video I just knew you'd love BOH's bass solo in this song and Su's voice is just incredible as always (no surprise there). Hipe you do a Black Babymetal sing next to see the contrast. I recommend "Sis. Anger". Kitsunes up 🤟🦊🤟

And after that long speech about what makes a good singer, Su-metal proves his point, again. Just awesome analysis! Ha ha! Always great reactions Tylr. Can't wait till you delve deep into Sakura Gakuin. Really looking forward to those!
But for their second album, start with Karate.
Also, you should check out Babymetal's debut performance in Sakura Gakuin in 2010: ua-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/v-deo.html. And you'll get to meet the White Tshirt Guy (WTG). Ha ha!

Classic Babymetal. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻 Su is a queen where you just sense that she owns that stage. And the show around only underlines that even more.
Well, from what I could tell from this and your video on CMIYC, you like good guitarists and bass players. Okay, without going on too long, I'll just say 'ASTERISM 『DAWN』2019/04/20'. Get ready for a nearly 9 minute journey. My recommendation, keep your hands off the pause button for at least the last 3 minutes and let them carry you along for the ride. 😉

Bassist BOH likes to joke that because Sheehan and Wooten were early influences that he didn't know one wasn't supposed to play bass that way.

The singing at 17:23 which I thought was some kind of effect was spotted by another reactor to be Su putting the mic to her nostril. Not sure if that actually is how it's done but it certainly appears that way.

It is exactly how it is done. Mike to the nose. Plus, you have to be born as one of the most talented soprano singers of the world, supported by dozens of professionals, and practice the technique for hours and hours and hours.

it was a recording, it is very hard to tell and there is still disagreement among fans but when you hear other versions that part is identical so to me there is no doubt, she is good but she is not that good. To me the the part of her voice that sets her above many is her voice shouts "look at me, I am the centre of attention" You listen to a Babymetal song and after you realise you only listened to her so you have to play it again to hear what the band were doing

    • @perfectmaster-not3212
      @perfectmaster-not3212 Рік тому +4

Studied this point and tend to agree it is a recording owing to seemingly identical instances in other performances. There is also a marked change in audio characteristics at the moment she is again inarguably vocalizing live into the mic. Potentially, however, not an effect. She is showing a valid microphone technique known to create that kind of sound. All Su-metal, any way you slice it. Awesome performer in every dimension.
