I been flipping vehicles since I was 18 I'm 31 now. For a good period of that time that was my main and only income I've made 20k in 3 months. Its a lot tougher now a days to make that kind of money but still very possible! Craigslist was the place to use until Marketplace took over and craigslist started to charge $5 a post... I've talked a person down from 3k to $350 and they delivered it to you after i went and seen it and walked away from it the first time. Never be scared to throw out a number but never be the first to put a number out there, let them talk themselves down first, once they do you know you can always get them lower then that number they took you. I just bought a 1980 Camaro the guy was asking 8k i got it for 5500.. Needs nothing, I'm putting it up for 15k! This channel is awesome I'm definitely going to stay watching! Get me more pumped to keep flipping!

Would you consider including an hours invested section along with the dollars calculated? I am super curious to see how the hours of buying the vehicle, getting parts, fixing and selling all come together. What do you end up making hourly after flipping?
I’m sure it varies due to every car and part circumstances so that’s hard to calculate especially with online parts vs in store or engine problems vs maintenance
@@daquanwebb7343 really have to just keep it deal per deal, car per car, cant quantify hourly things when you will be making basically a commission of each car--BUT you cans still do an hourly rate but id rather just say ok 500 total for a blazer that i sold it--after cleaned up/etc. my profit was 2500 cash--then you can deduct ALL your cost--then whats left get a general idea of how much you made per hours invested....

I can change starter and alternator. I also can do basic body work, filling, painting etc.. How do you know so much!!? Also what systems would you prioritize learning about if I wanna get into flipping.
Learn ac systems! They are pretty easy and aftermarket parts are cheap. If a car has no ac then it could be a super easy fix and you cna get cars for cheap!
Yeah if you get a shop to take out the freon that would be the right thing to do. But most cars with ac issues have leaks with no freon in the first place haha.

I flipped cars for car lots in Florida and did it for around 20 years. I had 3 car dealers who wanted to back me for a dealers license but it was cheaper at the time to just go with them to auctions and pick cars for them . I would get 25 dollar cars and turn them in to 900 to 2000 dollar cars for the lots and we all made lots of money . I could guarantee all the cars I did to have a 2 year warranty because I put in good new parts and not junk yard crap the car lots loved me because I did a good job and was fast . at the time in Florida you could have a lot and sell up to 7 cars at a time without a license and I had a huge back yard. it was all good tell I blew out my back and became totally disabled in 1999 . I did the car flipping gig from 1979 to 99 tell I totally F'ed myself lucky for me it was on the job and I got SSI

It would be cool to understand Title and Taxes on these cars. For example, if you purchase a car private party, do you need to transfer the title into your name before selling it to the next person? Or do you need a dealers license to avoid paying sales tax and passing that sales tax to the end-user?
legally unless you have a dealers license yes. the way to get around it is have a title signed by seller only then when you sell it you can put new buyers name on it. then basically its like they sold to each other. not legal at all and you could rack up a forgery charge lol. most states have a limit on how many you can transfer in year. ky is 5. more than that they force you to get a dealers license. dealers license is a headache as well in some states. ky you have to have 100 sf office that isnt your home and a 100 ft x100ft gravel lot or paved. you also have to pay for a bond unless you can present a huge amount of assets that will cover it. you also have to have a sign and your hours on the office. dealer insurance is also required but thats prob better as you it will cover whatever you drive and its not very expensive. the idea of flipping them and selling them online like this is nice but alot of hurdles if you do more than a few. dealer license should be updated for internet selling personally. thats how most people do business in this day and age for the most part but the part of the government that issues licenses still thinks like 1970 with plaid suit salesmen trying to beat you out of a dollar. probably because its elected officials and the last time they bought a car was in the 70s lol.
Yeap he had to fix a lot of things i sureley don't want to be a boiling pot inside a car with no ac on or stop in the middle of the road when a light is green and the truck won't move or annoying sound everytime im driving. What matters is whats inside the truck.
@@BuddysDIY yessir the profit you made was impressive its called business like you said if people like it they will buy it for what price they think is fair and 3k for it is defenetly a good price all they have to do is take care of it and it will last awhile.
I had 94 Lincoln town car. I bought for $700, planning to repaint it and sell for $1500. However, 1⃣I lost all the keys for that car, 2⃣My landlord didn't like broken car on her driveway, 3⃣I had to fix the control arm. For those reasons, I decided to sell the car for $300. Local "buy junk car" guy came to the house, and towed away in only 3hrs after the post. I hate lowballers so I usually just ignore those people who just text me a number like "200". But, even the person like me, sell the car dirt cheap when its a right timing.
The fuel filter feeds both banks so it would never have been a fuel filter fault. Just a bit of advice for the future. On a V engine if the fault code is saying either bank 1 or 2 then the fault is easier to find usually as you can rule out a lot of potential issues (like fuel filter, air flow sensors on a single intake etc) straight away. Single bank engines can be harder to narrow down any issues as there is obviously only one bank.
I thought I was a beast for flipping Hondas . I sell about 1 a month give or take ,usually to highschool kids but there is always room to learn more. Thanks for the extra knowledge
I kind of feel like that’s irrelevant to the topic of flipping cars because you’re not an employee you’re an entrepreneur and you are working to earn a profit, not to bill yourself for your hours worked. While I wholeheartedly agree that your time is valuable and that you should be mindful of how much work you are putting in, it doesn’t make much difference in the long run because you are doing the work for yourself and you are profiting from your labor indirectly If you broke it down by hours then you are basically trying to talk yourself out of flipping cars because you could say “you could have made x amount of dollars just fixing other peoples cars with none of the risk involved with putting up your own money” but then you miss the point of working for yourself and reaping the rewards of your own skills AND working how you want to, where you want, and WHEN you want to on your own schedule
Bruh. VERY well put. I agree wholeheartedly. I actually did add the labor time and hourly of what I made on the last flip video. I've gotten literally hundreds of people saying I should calculate what I made per hour. But yeah I agree that who cares. As long as you didn't spend a hundred hours making 100 bucks. The freedom to work for yourself is priceless
Great pragmatic approach, youtube knew I was working on 5 or 6 cars in the last month or two as favors for people, and suggested you. It's trying to tell me something, thanks Buddy, I am buying my first flip in 1 month from now

I sincerely admire you, a young man very professional, sharing his knowledge plus the skills to produce and edit so perfectly the videos, man!!! you are a better producer then mechanic. You inspire me ... thank you for sharing your knowledge!
What do you do in terms of titling and registration? Do you float the title using the previous owner's name or do you transfer it to yours and wait for a new title in the mail before selling it?
That's always my question. I guess most of us didn't register dealership license, so legally we still have to go through the title process before selling it out.
I used to do this back in the 90's. They had a section in the classifieds: cars for sale by owner under $1000. I would look for ANY pickup truck. If it cranked, went forward when you hit the gas, and the brakes stopped it, I'd buy it. I would buy a car for $300-500 or so, drive it to the Walmart parking lot and park near the main road. I'd put sign in the window "FOR SALE: $2000 OBO" with my cellphone number in it ( I had a burner phone just for this). I'd go sit at the McDonalds inside the Walmart. Within a few hours I'd get a call and someone would offer $1600 or so. If they had the cash, I'd meet them and sign their name as the buyer on the title. I made anywhere from $700 to 1800 in a day and never did any work to the trucks, and was never on paper in the transaction. I'd do this about once or twice a month when I could find a good truck. Made almost as much doing this as from my full time job. I'd put half the cash in the bank and the other half I'd spend on scratch tickets, hookers, and weed. Ah, the 90's. What a decade.
Good tips for anyone trying to get into this. Always refresh your marketplace and set the options to “newest first” that’s how you get deals. I get crazy good deals all the time. Me and my friend are opening a car lot. Good luck. 👍🏼
@@BuddysDIY i thought u might calculate, put down for the seller: Auto 500 plus engine repair 500 AC compressor 300 this/that 200 and u r by 1500. Where I live they used to shift back counters on the cars eg. origanal was 200k miles, they put it back to 100k but now new legislation forbids that.

Deals like this are difficult to find, especially on Facebook. Any car that’s listed under $2000 usually has a shit ton of people messaging the seller within minutes of it posting. Most of the time if you come across someone willing to sell a car for $500 it has major issues such as a blown head gasket or bad transmission. Also if you flip more than a few cars per year you will need a dealers license in most states, many flippers use the skip title method but just don’t get caught if you choose that method

Get that money homie
Awesome brother. 350 from 3k is not a bad pull at all haha. I'll take you w me next time I go see a car 🤣
@@BuddysDIY 🤣🤣 Yeah dude it was unheard of. I went looked at it walked away the dude texted me a couple hours later then i got him to 350 and he delivered it lol.

Learn ac systems! They are pretty easy and aftermarket parts are cheap. If a car has no ac then it could be a super easy fix and you cna get cars for cheap!
@@BuddysDIY really? don't you have to be careful with the freon and stuff? like disposing it?

I did the car flipping gig from 1979 to 99 tell I totally F'ed myself lucky for me it was on the job and I got SSI
that sucks ..:( well hope you enjoying your retirement.
I also hope you're enjoying you retirement!!!
What sucks is in Florida you have to have insurance on the vehicle to have in the drive way...
Hey Chris! I want to start flipping cars myself and wondering how you handle the title process. Do you have the seller sign the title and leave the rest blank. And when you sell it just have the buyer fill in their information. Or how do you handle this??
I'm also wondering about this. Does it have to be registered while fixing it? Insurance?

It would be cool to understand Title and Taxes on these cars. For example, if you purchase a car private party, do you need to transfer the title into your name before selling it to the next person? Or do you need a dealers license to avoid paying sales tax and passing that sales tax to the end-user?
Wondering the exact thing
legally unless you have a dealers license yes. the way to get around it is have a title signed by seller only then when you sell it you can put new buyers name on it. then basically its like they sold to each other. not legal at all and you could rack up a forgery charge lol. most states have a limit on how many you can transfer in year. ky is 5. more than that they force you to get a dealers license. dealers license is a headache as well in some states. ky you have to have 100 sf office that isnt your home and a 100 ft x100ft gravel lot or paved. you also have to pay for a bond unless you can present a huge amount of assets that will cover it. you also have to have a sign and your hours on the office. dealer insurance is also required but thats prob better as you it will cover whatever you drive and its not very expensive. the idea of flipping them and selling them online like this is nice but alot of hurdles if you do more than a few. dealer license should be updated for internet selling personally. thats how most people do business in this day and age for the most part but the part of the government that issues licenses still thinks like 1970 with plaid suit salesmen trying to beat you out of a dollar. probably because its elected officials and the last time they bought a car was in the 70s lol.
Would be nice if you also mention how much work has been done (hours) + waiting time for parts ; Cheers ;
next video ill touch on that!
I’d like to point out 90% of the time that offer would got you laughed at
Not true at all. For a car with no ac, and runs like crap it's not worth more than 500.

You should document the hours that you work on the car to find the $/hour of wrench time. It would be a nice addition to the series.
I kind of feel like that’s irrelevant to the topic of flipping cars because you’re not an employee you’re an entrepreneur and you are working to earn a profit, not to bill yourself for your hours worked. While I wholeheartedly agree that your time is valuable and that you should be mindful of how much work you are putting in, it doesn’t make much difference in the long run because you are doing the work for yourself and you are profiting from your labor indirectly
If you broke it down by hours then you are basically trying to talk yourself out of flipping cars because you could say “you could have made x amount of dollars just fixing other peoples cars with none of the risk involved with putting up your own money” but then you miss the point of working for yourself and reaping the rewards of your own skills AND working how you want to, where you want, and WHEN you want to on your own schedule

What do you do in terms of titling and registration?
Do you float the title using the previous owner's name or do you transfer it to yours and wait for a new title in the mail before selling it?
I am a dealer and always follow state and county regulations
