I must admit DJ, Penang curry is also one of my favourites, you now have the Thai fever, mine started 30 years ago when i first visited, love the food, the people and the culture, so many chill out jungly places if you feel the need to move from touristy places. I reckon within weeks of your return to blighty you will be looking for flights! You are a biker, check out a three day trip doing the Mae Hong Son Loop starting from Chiang Mai, hundreds of hairpin bends and incredibly scenic, you will need a decent size bike which you can rent for a decent price in Chiang Mai. Cheers and thanks, great vlog.
I live in the smokies of W. NC, on TN border. I think Fatten would love riding “The Tail of the Dragon” here. As well as all of the many windy, curvy, beautifully scenic roads. 🌳🏔️🌳🏔️🌳 lots of lakes and rivers along the roads with incredible views
I watch Steady Eddy's channel, a youtuber from the UK who also stays in Thailand. He has terminal brain cancer and only a year left to live at 62. He is strong spirited and wants to get back to Thailand even with his poor health. Then I thought of you and how luck you are to be enjoying Thailand being fit and healthy. Keep enjoying it, because as you said, life is short.
In Eddy's last vid he's not that strong spirited anymore. The reality of his situation is really starting to sink in, very sad to see. Even sadder, he doesn't seem to have family or close friends and it looks like he's living in a hotel or bedsit. Just a stark reminder that without your health and people who care about you all that talk of "if you want your life to change, just do it" is so much hot air.
The curry and accompaniments looked great, loved the presentation of it too. It was nice to see you enjoying it, it’s worth every penny when food makes you smile.
Thanks for your videos. Was the salad "Som Tum" which is a green papaya salad? Sounds like the very tasty salad we had in Phuket recently. Love Thai food. All the best.
HI Darren Wow you have found another great place to eat. Those night markets have a great vibe serving great fresh food and again what you had 10/10. Glad you are having a great time like you say trip of a lifetime ,so you booked your flight back there again. Just think you are going to miss that when you come back and I doubt you will get that true authentic food here in the UK. Have really enjoyed all these, again thank you for sharing
Good Evening Darren. What a Lovely Establishment to have some very Delicious and very Well presented Thai Food. Chicken Thai Curry with those Gorgeous Pork Balls and Fresh Cucumber. A rather Generous portion of plain Rice to go with your Beautiful Dishes Darren. What better way, to spend some Me time at this Wonderful Night Bazaar Market. It is so Good, you could come back again, and try something different. Thank you Darren. Jonathan.
Hi Darren hi 👋 from Australia 🇦🇺 really enjoying your amazing channel and different meals 😀 also the way they present the food too! Another wonderful review from beautiful Thailand 🇹🇭 thankyou ❤🎉
I'm waiting for the day that you say you aren't going home and are moving permanently to Thailand! You have had a permanent smile on your face since you landed! 🏖
It's quite hilarious watching DJ's reactions to the local food since he has been in Thailand, something I don't think I have seen before. His "oh my God, oh my God, almost childlike reactions, but in a good way!
Yummy looking. Yes. Too many British and Americans simply mess stuff up together and shovel it down. Americans are always in too much of a hurry to properly savor a meal and Brits seem to think everything needs to swim in goopy sauce to taste good. I admit work made me a hurry eater ,luckily my dude got me to slow down.
I get the impression u were in your element there & I don't blame u I had the same CURRY in exactly the same PLACE & I like U thought it was YUMMY! Glad u enjoyed!x
Oh Darren enjoyed that ,slathering here lol ,you were nearly speakless there which i understand .Great to see someone finding theIr ideal meal and ect ect ect lol .Have a great day Love these videos ThanksTC Byee 4 now.
Panang Curry is an absolute must. Beautiful mix of Spices and coconut and always a pleasure to eat. And to be fair that looked like a big portion of deliciousness!!🥰
that food looked lovely Darren i can't wait to try it when i get over early next year, your videos are making me excited i wonder will you bump into geoff carter who's another youtuber over in pattaya at the moment
Its impossible to find all the good spots in Pattaya in three weeks, I've been living in Pattaya for 16 years and I find new new places every week, I could recommend loads for your next visit. I'm pretty sure you'd love living here, not just for the weather, food, entertainment, but there are some really great motorbike groups that do regular trips around the country for a week or two at a time and those trips are amazing, you'd love it. Pattaya is often looked down on as a sex tourist town and although that is true it's only a handful of streets and they are easily avoided, we live in east Pattaya, known as the 'darkside', where the vast majority of expats live. Great schools, great parks, great restaurants and bars, pools, waterparks, 26 golf courses, tennis courts, badminton courts, running tracks, trekking paths, off-road tracks for scramblers and not forgetting the 15+ public saunas with pools, cryo pools, hot pools, saunas and steam rooms, very family orientated and most are about 4 quid for a whole day plus food and drinks. I could keep going on, but ultimately if you did what I did 17 years ago and make the move here you would not regret it, the income from a single in central flat in London is enough for me to support a family of 4 easily, as a single man you'd live like a king on a docklands flat rental income.
Your videos aren’t getting sent to me automatically it seems. This and the one you said had been your best meal so far….. have appeared when I go on u tube and scroll down. They aren’t/ weren’t in my notifications. Anyway, food looks delicious!
Now, that was a generous looking portion. I love Thai food. Like you, I'm not a fan of fish dishes, though, only Prawns . The salad you mean is probably Papaya salad. Keep up the good work mate 👍
DJ, saw a video on YT last night, Ann restaurant A & K, the guy had an awesome looking curry and rice, spring rolls (6), sauces and a large bottle of beer the equivalent of less than £6. Have you tried it m8?.
@ Darren please try the Som Tam it is a favourite out there. It is a salad that I'm confident you will like. I looked on the map and found the location thanks again.
@@sdm197 Som Tam is almost exclusively eaten by Thai women. In fact the Beer Garden ( just before Walking st ) used to have free Som Tam for the ladies .
@@anthonydowling3356 Well after going to Thailand over 60x and living there a few years I never knew that. It is so incredibly tasty and fresh, with of course a kick of chilli.
As good as anything in the UK, we have a bunch of ex-pat stores that sell UK food here but also loads of local manufacturers of bacon, sausages, pies etc, we even have some authentic fish n chips shops run by a northerner.
I was in Germany with gf insisted no fish sauce in a duck dish oh yes it was there sent it back they were somewhat reluctant to change it so we walked out leaving only what we had eaten 😂 Very disappointing
On average a Thai earns around 20,000 baht a month, around £450.00, waitresses will earn around 12,000 a month (270 quid) plus tips. It sounds low but its all relative, food and housing are very cheap here, Thai apartmets can be as cheap as £70.00 a month. I live in a 3 bed, 3 bath house, detached in a private estate with 24 hour security (not that its needed as its very safe here) and if I was renting it would be about £350.00 a month including use of the 25m pool, gym and all estate costs.
Not sure why everyone is staying in Pattaya, there’s far more places than there to visit and blog from. It gets boring seeing all of the foodies doing the blogs from pattaya bars and restaurants. Panang is one of my favourite curries , my Thai wife of 35 years makes it on a regular basis but we normally use beef not chicken.
When I first moved to Thailand I was a very fussy eater, I spent my first month here eating Panang curry

To be fair mate that looked pretty epic!
That looks banging !!😋 apart from the lemon grass, it tastes like perfume 🤢 only thing I don’t like if honest.. awesome as always beaute ❤❤❤❤😊
Panang curry, absolutely delicious 😋 that looked like a 10/10+ from me.
From memory you like King prawns.
Penang is one of my favourite Thai curries, i can also recommend green curry and Massaman curry.
Everything you've eaten was amazing surely theres been a meal thats under Parr😮
There was one Darren had from a street vendor, he couldn't eat it.
Dj, that spicey Thai salad is usually Papaya Salad, with all the usual vegetables suspects, plus palm sugar and citrus juice etc. It's so refreshing.
That looked really nice. Yum.🤪
Brilliant vlog
Incredible value for money I'm moving to Thailand and live like a king
Darren go to the end of soi bukoew at night. The market end and on the left get the street food. Cow man guy, it's the nuts !!!

Try a papaya salad spicy mate , fantastic
You can tell how much Thais love their food by the generous portion sizes😀
Looks good that.
Looks amazing! but where is the restaurant??
I mention - back of shopping mall
Amazing yes.. The Thai curry is something very, very special DrZ🙏🏻
Much more like it Darren!!!
Have you tried the Morning Glory dish and the papaya salad?? Both incredible 👌👌
That's what it's called - Papaya salad. I love it
Dj how’s it taken you this long to discover this dish ……….. my favourite Thai dish by far.
It's not Thai 😮
If you like the Panang curry, try a chicken Massaman curry, they are immense👌🏻
awesome..you cant beat patts.
Som Tam is the salad.
Thai bean sprout salad is tua nork (that’s about the closest I can get to the wife’s pronunciation)
I would love you to recreate that awesome sauce back in UK. All the chilies, veg and meat are extras, its that sauce that is the main biz.
The salad you are talking about is Som Tum (papaya salad)
Love it
Think you mean Bazaar not Bizarre lol
Looks delicious 😋 ❤

The basil in Thailand is a totally different flavour profile to Italian basil.

From what I can see he has tried plenty of Thai food! 😊
