this made me think. every villian we ever see either never actually hurts the main character, or hurts them so much that its obvious they have plot armor. i want to see a villian where they want to hurt the hero, but they dont want to kill them. they hurt them until they're on the brink of consciousness, then they bandage them up and let them heal; then the cycle repeats. it happens so much between the hero and villian that its comedic at this point and show that the villian doesnt want to kill, just like to mess with the person trying to stop them whilst still continuing his plan.
or one were neither are actually trying to kill each other. they fight. one of them almost dies the other patches them up. then they both go home only to fight again a few months later.. both kingdoms people are completely certain they are trying to kill eachother but they are not even enemies. just friends in an endless competition for who is stronger. until one of them reaches godhood. and whoever gets there first wins, but like have those two be the hero and the main villain of the story. and their entire species are at war because of their rivalry. and each time they fight they permanently alter the topography and even their smallest actions end up causing ripples throughout the lands that change politics and cause massive wars and stuff. that would be a fun idea.
