- A decidedly different take on Muraki, stripping away his sex symbol status within the Yami fandom to expose the brutal serial killer and rapist he is. Very gruesome, so if you're at all squeamish about animated blood and gore, you probably want to skip this video.
This video was created by Freeptop of C&C Productions. Footage used is Yami no Matsuei (Descendants of Darkness), and the song is an edit done by Freeptop using "Pretty Toy (Edit)" and "Pretty Toy (PG-13 Edit)" from the Pretty Toy single. This vid played to a completely silent audience at the Yaoi-Con 2005 AMV Contest.

The ending was just so perfect! Great job on taking a different approach to Muraki - many fans seem to entierly disregard the fact that he, among other things, a serial killer and a rapist. beautifully done!

I have to agree with you. He's so...messed up in the head, but I guess that's what i like about him. He's hard to understand.
This video was one of my favorite Yami AMVS back in the day. Still holds up as just that. Had the strongest urge to rewatch it going down memory lane and man, still love it.

I think this is very hypnotizing and scary and still somehow attractive in a very dark way. I love Muraki, I think he's one of the greatest charas there is... And this amv really sums up everything he is. Absolutely wonderful work with the clips: you really portrayed him well.
This gave me chills.
But it's nice to see the author took this direction. First vid I saw of someone showing the actual side to Muraki. He's not meant to be loved, he's meant to hated.

this relay is truly brilliant. I especially like the last shot, and how the last bit focuses on Saki and portrays the emotional damaged caused. When I first watched this video, it hit me that this is possible the first YnM AMV, and cirtenly the first Muraki-centric AMV, that doesn't have a single shot of him molesting Tsuzuki-san. I think this is realy the essence of muraki, well done.

The little 'fight club' bit you stuck in there was a nice touch.
It's been over a decade since I saw Yami no Matsuei and I find myself kinda weirded out by how big of a crush I had on this guy back as a teenager. I mean yeah he's alluring and seductive but also disturbing and I legitimately shipped him with Tsuzuki.
I still come back to this AMV on occasion and I still love it. :P

I like this vid. It's easy to get lost in his charms and the cute and fluffy style the manga takes from time to time. It's actually nice and unexpected to see a serious Muraki amv.
...it's easy to get lost in his charms... shit, that's what a serial killer/rapist WANTS you to do. I'd love to see manga or anime that creates this kind of character but dosen't throw in any fluff. Straight up guy that gives you the creeps.

At first I was quite surprised that a bishie would have something like that, because they are supposed to be perfect and stuff. Now I think it just makes him even more special.
I love Muraki for his sex symbol status, /and/ his horrific evil, both. His sadism and obsession with Tsuzuki can be unapologetically sexy. x'D Only in anime, however.
Even still, Hisoka/Tsuzuki is my my favorite pairing... and I like the cruel and disturbing side of Muraki better, because it makes for an interesting villain.

This video is seriously amazing. Muraki is indeed a sex symbols to many of the fans. myself included. But I think this video reflects why i personally find him seductive. I know that sounds really cruel. But the fact is i'm painfully drawn to RP characters and Anime characters with that seductive evil to them. This video is Muraki. And Why I love muraki...
I'll try to avoid dropping spoilers. You can also watch the anime here on UA-cam, just know that it didn't get much of a budget, so it's dated and corny.
Tsuzuki and Hisoka are shinigamis, humans that died with a strong attachment to the living world (Hisokas is revenge, Tsuzukis seems to be grief). Since they themselves cant move on to their own trials (which judges them to go to heaven or hell), they work in Purgatory as summoners for the courts. This job also works them like they are
I suppose that I should thank Muraki for helping me to realise what I want to become which is a psychologist. He sparked my interest for psychopaths and personality disorders and that then made me take a psychology class in highschool. And now I'm striving to reach my goal.
I have to admit, he was my favourite the first time I watched YnM but that faded when I realise how disturbed he really is. He makes an excellent villain non the less and I do still like him, in a nostalgic sort of way.

But I think Muraki is still the more "sane" person of them both. He has some kind of a reason for his actions after all, and doesn't just torture people because he loves to do that, like Jezebel does.
Well... besides of Tsuzuki of course. Apparently torturing him is Muraki's favourite pastime. XD
I shall have to track that down, heh, I find it fascinating how the impression of the character changes depending on teir voice actor!

detectives, as sometimes they have to actually figure out the causes of deaths to find the souls. Sometimes shinigami actually have to kill the person to take to court. A shinigami doesnt tend to like this part of the job.
They dont always take souls. In one story they actually have to find out why lives that were on the verge of death suddenly gained long and healthy lives.
The books provide a mix of murder mystery and tons of humor. But dont be put off the jovial overtone,

I think what you said was the aim of this video, but the 'fandom' of YnM is such that fans seem to have the image of Muraki as more of a yaoi-idol ingrained into their minds. Personally, he scares me as a character.

Dr. Muraki is a very disturbed rapist and serial killer (if he died, I think he could become a shinigami. Hed revel in it, I think). He's involved in at least 3 main plots in the manga/anime, has raped and killed *insert character here* and is after Tsuzuki to...do...things...with. *looks shiftily around*

I don't think Muraki has "hott" appeal BECAUSE he is a serial killer. It's just part of his looks, attitude and personality.
I, personally, find him extremely sexy, despite his sadistic tendancies. However, it needs to be understood that someone like this in real-life and non-fiction would not be sexy, no matter how attractive he is, so I don't really see the problem with people finding him, a fictional character, "hott".

Yeah, Muraki's really weird. You could say he wants Tsuzuki like that, but then you see the last story arc he's in, then you wonder, "was he bullshitting raping Tsuzuki or what? O_O"
I'm a villain fangirl, but I tend to pick things based on plot. And yes, I like yaoi. XD It was one of the reasons I picked up the first book. The other two reasons were the story sounded good and I liked the art--like the characters eyes.

A great AMV, honestly... But just glancing at the comments and stuff, I think that even if you take away "sex symbol," there's still going to be appeal there because he's not -just- the "obsessed murderer." :P It'd be boring if characters did things just because they were evil.
@TheUnbeholden killing brings no satitsfaction,but all the way to the killing it's a gas...well we both have an opinion but,despite not going ahead with murder in real life,doesn't mean we can't appreciate a figurative killer's way of killing don't you think? i'm saying this as a horror movie fan and as a villain fan,it was actually this vid that made me open an exception and watch a shonen ai for the first and last time (no offense for the people who like shonen ai/yaoi i respect you)

Its the sort of forbidden thing, , to hold someones life in your hands, to feel like a god and the strangest thing to derive pleasure from the someone else's pain. Is there any pleasure in giving death? No, killing seems like a waste of blood. Its a unique thing to be sure, which adds to its mystique.

pardon my miss jugde and yeah,i'm a yaoi hater lol but i respect the ones that like,i'm not homofobic or sorth XD the thing is that i choose the animes by their villains mostly,and this muraki guy is quite a villain but i was kinda shocked when i saw the way he treats the good guy (don't recall the name) with those flowers and jesters and i read the plot and it said he had a carnal desire for that guy beside the other things he wants

The voice is not from the dubbed anime, it's part of the original song. And trust me, this voice would suit him perfectly. The one they used in the real dub is...yikes

I can assure you you are not. :) I didn't fell for his looks (um, freaky eye!), I think it was his charisma. The anime makers did a great job with his character, for it is fascinating and repulsive at the same time. I think that's why ppl go tearing each other apart over the issue if he is the ultimate evil or just a poor victim himself. I guess they are all wrong. He is both. And much more.

Ah, a yaoi hater for your own reasons.
It's a shoujo story, so the focus will be on relationships between characters, but that being said, you could see it as a building sexual relationship or simply good friends.
The same goes for Muraki. He has no preference as to gender and *spoiler* he sees everyone as dolls to be played with, like Hisoka (hence the lyrics in the background of the amv).
