Great review. Behringer gear makes having a studio afordable for beginners, now I'm recording for labels and my studio has a lot of behringer gear. No regrets.

Just caught your video. Don't know how I missed it cause I've looked for videos on this piece before. This was excellent. I've being using one of this for ... hmmm long time now, actually 20 years but have expanded my inputs and was thinking of getting a few more. It runs in my studio, always plugged in and turned on. Only problem is that after 2 decades I had too open it up and lube the pots and switches, something that needs to be done with most gear.
But I wanted to mention to anyone interested who is reading this that like you, I dont use the EQ section. The eq section is a bit risky for recording (at least when I'm using it, my taste changes with my mood).
So ... agree with you, great preamp regardless of price. Considering the price its vey impressive. Just roll off the bottom, drive the gain to taste and go. Always a better sound than without anything and better sound than any of the channel strips I have in my studio. If Behringers build quality is as good as it was twenty years ago then my time using it can attest to that.
One more thing, I don't like the eq part of this unit but luckily one can completely bypass the eq while still employing the bass roll off (for singers I roll off much higher than you, probably 100 and above. Just got to remember to switch it off when switching cables all around to record bass guitar or drums)
Excellent video, thanks for making it.
    Sincerely

That TRS outputs are also ballanced outputs, only TRS, instead XLR. I love the sound of this preamp. Mine is almost 20 years old.

It seems like a nice unit and it doesn't cost any more than the pure gain boxes but it has more features and it's more configurable. It's nice to see that the 1/4 inch plugs are balanced.

Appreciate the review. I'm looking at the preamp to boost and color my signal for a bi-amped/stereo bass rig, as it's the cheapest solution I've found with tubes, and this video answered my questions nicely.

this video is showing off 2 preamps simultaneously , the Behringer and UR22 interface. The behringer should go in the interface using the line to minimize the interface preamp color (DI). Its why your input is way down + 2 preamps, noise floor down on interface but increased from 2200. I see it has a input and output, maybe nxt video you could pick up the gain and drop the output to hear tube saturation. But thanks for the vid anyways still worth watching for some insight, I need a cheap solution for my synths and this seems affordable and extremely useful for its price.

many people think that Behringer is bad quality, but it's not that bad.
Behringer products are good quality for a low budget, you can't not compare it with Api Audio products or other high-end manufacturers whose prices are much higher.

TBH you want to drive the Behringer with hotter signal and leave your Steinberg input at zero or better yet use the line out of the Mic2200 into the line in of your steinberg!
The way your running the 2200 into the Steinberg is at mic level! Thats causing both preamps to process the mic signal!

How do people use headphones to hear their voice without latency mixing with other computer output ? What gear do you use?

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  Рік тому

There's no latency. It's all analog. There's an analog to digital converter on the sound card but with a single channel it's lag free. I use the dial on the sound card to put the mix 100% towards what's going in. Never listen to your audio through plugins on a computer, it'll just create latency issues.

    Hi!
Recently I've bought a Behringer Ultragain 2200 preamp and
want to plug the guitar in. I know that usually when I'd plug my guitar
to the amp or audio interface the input impendance would be around 1
milion ohms and this preamp I bought has input impendance of 60k ohm (as
    I read in the manual).
With 60k impendance compared to 1 milion I
reckon it will probably be too less to plug my guitar in. But there's
the other thing. Manual says that I can use this gear as a DI box. Does
it mean that my high impendance signal from electric guitar passing
through the input of the Behringer's 2200 preamp will be turned into low
impendance? If yes, it's understandable its line load is about 60k ohms
and not 1 milion as it would be in amp and audio interface.
    Usually
DI boxes' output impendance is around 600 ohms. If my gear works the
same way, then I'd understand why its line input impendance is around
60k. This way it would be ratio 100:1 (60k:600).
    So basically my
question is, will my gear (preamp) turn the high impendance of my
instrument down as DI boxes do and therefore process it with its 60k
load, or maybe it doesn't turn it down and the guitar signal will be too
hot for the interface (because of the 60k load instead of around
    milion)?

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  5 років тому +1

This will take a line in signal and send it out via the XLR output no problems at all. This is kind of what the DI box does so in that effect, it will work.

no, it just a preamp, it does not provide enough power to drive passive speakers. but you can use it as a preamp to control active monitors via the line input.
