Dear Joshua, Excellent work! This is one of the most illuminating videos I have seen on footage categorization and montage. I'm very eager to see the future episodes! Thank you so much! 😀
Loving this explosion of Joshua Kirk videos! Can't wait for the next one. I'm already using so many of your organizational concepts for a feature-length doc project I'm currently working on. I may need to include you in my film's credits as "Editing Consultant." :)
For doco I can see this strategy of managing content to be useful. Particularly when there is quite a bit of footage taken. I am a newbie to Da Vinci and I am wondering if it has a metadata option for footage, like that in Premier?
great video Joshua, I was wondering if using MULTIPLE TIMELINES for Aroll, Broll, and fusion animations or motiongraphics, better for smooth playback and overall better workflow
You can really have as many timelines as you like in the project. Once I get beyond 100 timelines I notice the initial load speed slow down. The key I think is having a fresh data base for really large projects.
So concise and fully conveys an important aspect of how a pro thinks about organizing an edit. I needed this. Thanks, Josh!
Cheers mate, appreciate the watch and comment!

Yes you can tag and update metadata which I’ll explain in a future video. You can apply keywords which can be filtered out with smart bins
