After watching a tutorial and practice in the training are for like 10 min learned it pretty well. Never had any issues learning it after that. Yeah, anyone working with older processor really have heat problems running this weapon as well. Me personally, have to delete all background weapons for a cleaner run.
      Understanding CB and being good are two way different things, a huge part of a weapon like CB and GS is really perfecting angle of attack and monster timing/moveset... Sadly because of the massive requirements of swinging this weapon my monster pattern recognition gets a 404 and is lost when needed. I need an upgrade.

      It’s really not that complicated
      To be quite honest, as someone who plays Charge Blade for quite some time, it’s basically a flow-chart weapon.
      Is your shield charged? If not, charge it.
      Is your sword charged? Do you think you have the time to charge it? If so, charge it.
      Is now a good time for SAED? If not, then waste some time by slapping the monster around in axe form, expending phials so you can keep DPS and open the monster up for SAED. Impact phials makes the process easier, but if you have an elemental weapon, then you’ll miss out on a lot of damage if you don’t have element phials.

    VERY IMPORTANT NOTE IF YOU PLAYED THIS WEAPON IN WORLD: you can no longer guard directly after a guard point. If a move ends with a guard point, holding the block button does nothing. Holding the block button will see your character drop the shield then raise it 3 seconds later. If your guard point does not block an attack, you cannot block and wait, you need to move.

    Maybe I overlooked you specifically mentioning it in this 40-minute guide, but for viewers' sake, 36:36 shows a good example of this: since applying the phial boost to your shield is tied to the start of Amped Element Discharge, _any_ moves that let you shortcut to AED like guardpoints or the silkbind counter are also great for quickly boosting the shield, and you don't need to do the Triple X+A combo to get that going. If the first thing you do upon starting a fight is Peak Performance the roar, you can have a powered shield within 4 seconds.

    17:23 I actually found that if you go into the controls setting in the options and change the directional control settings to type 2, then you can cancel the ued into an aed by holding down on the joystick regardless of where you're facing.

    • @phant0mdummy
      @phant0mdummy 2 роки тому

      I prefer type 2 for all weapons. In reality, it's best for slower weapons and type 1 tends to be more intuitive for faster weapons, like DB's. But I prefer the consistency, because I've played it so long I just always know I can rely on rolling where I want to. Type 2 is basically tank controls in old RE games. Once you get used to it, it works for any weapon more consistently, in my experience.

    There is one playstyle that i've been using on charge blade that i've gotten a lot of mileage out of by using the charged element slash. The CES actually comes out significantly faster when you use it to convert energy into phials, so I end up belting them out faster and more reliably than UEDs. With this, the sword mode attacks also deal phial damage, providing an excellent mix of power and mobility. The mindset behind the playstyle is essentially to constabtly be charging into CES, and using UEDs only when the monster is downed or stunned.

    Loving these videos. This was the next weapon I was getting into. That Teostra Charge Blade looks spicy.
    Some extra CB tips I know from MHW:
    • you can go into UED directly after the ‘store phial’ [ZR+A] if you press X+A (x2). It’s the fastest way to go from empty red phials to UED when your shield is charged.
    • the yellow/red charge stacks over the stored phials. So you can have full phials, charge to red, use UED, and store full phials immediately after to use another UED.
    • I believe in MHW the charged shield was assumed to be equivalent to 2 Guard skill levels. So players would often run 1 Guard level on their builds to have Guard lvl 3 when their shield was charged. Or for stronger monsters, they would have 3 Guard levels on their builds to have Guard lvl 5 when their shield was charged.
    • lastly, unga bunga bruthur!

  • @xardnaslp3171
    @xardnaslp3171 3 роки тому +2

    This isn't supposed to be hate or anything like that, it's just that I've been maining cb since 4u so i noticed that you left out a decent amount of stuff(and i don't blame you, it's called the most complicated weapon for a good reason). So, since you didn't mention everything, I'm just gonna expand upon your tutorial and write down everything you missed.
    1. Blocking attacks with your shield also charges your phials. I don't know if the amount charged depends on the strength of the blocked attack because i never bothered to test it, but simply blocking attacks charges phials, so keep that in mind.
    2. When your shield is charged, your axe does more damage. So you should always have a charged shield, regardless of your playstyle.
    3. Charging your axe also gives it mind's eye (only while actually spinning). So as long as you hold the button in axe mode, it won't bounce.
    4. The aerial Ultra Element Discharge (UED) from axe hopper does more damage than a normal one one the ground.
    5. If you have the condensed element slash active (sword is charged), and your phials are overloaded, your attacks won't bounce, but they'll still deal less damage, so you should never overcharge your phials.
    6. Phials do fixed damage. Just like gunlance shells, it doesn't matter where you hit the monster, they'll always do the same damage.
    7. Breaking parts is easier when you're axe charged, because it's more hits at once.
    8. You can cancel the endlag of most moves with another move. For example: in sword mode, just press x+a or hold a to charge and keep attacking infinitely. Basically, you can sorta flow from one attack into the next.
    9. Morphing advance does NOT have i-frames. It has a bit of superarmor, which means that you can power through some attacks without taking knockback, but you'll still take damage.
    Now here's some tips:
    1. If you want your playstyle to revolve heavily around UED spam, consider going with axe hopper and the sword charge instead of the axe charge. This will allow you to get your phials easier and deal the most damage possible with the UED, since the axe hopper UED does more damage. Also use load shells skill and artillery, more info below.
    2. You can stay in charged axe mode basically forever by using counter peak performance. Counter one hit, AED, power up shield, counter the next hit, boom, charged axe mode. When you need to defend, just use the counter again.
    As for armor skills, what was shown in the video is correct, but incomplete. So here we go:
    Evade extender:
    Useful on any weapon because of the extra distance. Especially useful because of the little sidestep after attacks. Fade slash isn't affected by evade extender.
    Load shells (only lvl 2):
    You charge your phials quicker and the yellow glow already charges your phials completely. Very useful for UED spam.
    Guard up:
    At least one lvl should always be equipped on every weapon that can block. It allows you to block attacks that normally aren't blockable, for example, rakna kadakis flames. Also counts for counter peak performance, meaning that you can now counter literally any attack in the game.
    Guard:
    Very good if you block a lot. It lessens stamina use, lessens the knockback you take when blocking and it lessens the chip damage you take when blocking. VERY important if you want to guardpoint a lot. Some attacks do so much knockback that you won't be able to do the follow-up UED, even though the guardpoint was perfect.
    Part breaker:
    Especially useful with condensed spinning slash, since the multiple hits help break the parts faster. Very good for part-sniping.
    Focus and power prolonger are pretty much completely useless, it's not hard to keep your shield charged and the cb doesn't have any super slow, chargable moves that you'll be using a lot.
    Still a good tutorial, even though you missed some things and the order in which you talked about the stuff is weird. I just felt like expanding upon it and filling in the blanks that you left, because i have a lot of experience with this weapon and i just love it. If there's any questions, I'll gladly answer. Have fun and happy hunting!

      @level19cpu7 3 роки тому +2

      @@berserkerciaran They're both morphing weapons between a sword (and shield with CB) and an axe so it really depends on your playstyle.
      With CB there's a little more management of building up your phials like Arrekz mentioned in sword mode and then dishing out that phial damage in axe mode.
      With SA you're going to be doing a lot more morphing between them but it kinda boils down to use axe mode for more mobility, reaching higher parts on the monster, and letting your sword recharge. When you want to dish out big damage you switch to sword mode which you can then slash and hack away and also discharge your sword energy buildup into the monster. But keep in my sword mode has a gauge that can run out and you need to switch back to axe mode to let it recharge.
      So essentially it boils down to how you want to play with your axe weapon. Do you want to use primarily for hacking at specific parts of the monster and in between damage windows, or do you want to swap to it for your big damage windows but have to recharge it in sword mode?
      Personally if you want a more "axe" feeling weapon I think you'll find SA to meet that feel more, but the choice will ultimately be up to you and I'd suggest you try both.

    I've mained Charge Blade ever since its inception and this is definitely the best its ever been. All the Switch Skills are absolutely brilliant and so much fun to use, especially Condensed Spinning Slash and Axe Hopper. Morphing Advance gives you soooo much mobility and utility as well, it's gonna be hard to go without those in future games that don't have Wirebugs.
    Also if you go into C. Elemental or Spinning Slash right after you charge phials into your shield the animation is quicker. If you do it without you get this additional shield shake animation as your character notices there's nothing to charge which makes the transition more awkward.

    For anyone who doesn't realize it yet. Charge Blade is the worst it's ever been since the original MH4. It received half the available guard point frames, and replaced it with endlag so you cannot guard after a GP. The SAED/CSS is exacerbated for damage, and if you do not do them, you do 0 damage. The kicker as well is that they then proceeded to nerf the available time you can have red shield, then lowered it's guard values so you can no longer GP anything into any moves you would want to use for intelligent gameplay.

Lots of attention to detail, absolutely great structuring of the script so it all makes sense to a beginner, impeccable presentation.
