Thanks for a thorough educational video. Searched for pyrite for 1st grader to watch after learning the Greek word pyre. Most of the videos talk about the "aura" of pyrite ans how to get rich from pyrite. This video is exactly what I was looking for!

I was a mineral nut when I was young, Dad brought me samples from mining operations all over Texas and Louisiana and I had a bodacious collection including some nice pieces of pyrite. But these samples you showed are brilliant-and-a-half. Fantastic show, and some interesting education.
Would you like to learn how you can make your own pyrite, from materials commonly available?

As a teenager my brother and i gathered Pyrite by the pocket full for slingshot ammunition from a river bed in illinois . In gravel beds we looked for round, ish brown stones in sizes from marble to half dollar size , the pyrite was eyther gold or silver and much heavier than stones of equal size .

iron pyrite is excellent for flint and steel fire lighting as it sparks very well. You can use either your steel striker or your flints to spark though your steel striker is best (as it generates the most sparks).
You also didn't mention marcasite the most reactive type of iron pyrite (and the best type for use for flint and pyrite fire making)

I wonder have you ever tested it with a multimeter, for a continuity test for gold? Electricity runs through gold, not pyrite. People have what they think is pyrite, and they actually may be cavalarite gold, gold and silver mixed with tellerium

+xGenetic Beast I'm not an appraiser myself at all but the value of your pyrite cube depends on the size, quality, and if there are any other cubes attached. I've seen centimeter sized cubes sell for as little as 10$ and large clusters go for a few hundred.
