This clip shows a different side of John Rambo. Years after returning home, you know he's coping w/his PTSD, but here he finally looks and sounds genuinely content. It's as if for the first time in his life, he has something of a normal life: a surrogate family, breakfast in the morning, a comfortable home. This and the scene where he's horseback riding w/Gabriella really drive home that point. Too late we realize it's just the calm before the storm.
This character was not Rambo at all. This movie was not a Rambo movie but a second rate action script with the Rambo brand slapped onto it. In no way does he resemble the original character except his physical appearance. Rambo was never talkative or a father figure. The PTSD is accurate and should have been a primary focus in this film instead of an afterthought. Terrible film. Should have left the saga alone with the movie before this one. That was a good Rambo sequel. This felt like a forced, terribly written revenge tale in the vein of Taken, but nowhere near as good. There's too many plot devices including the human one that saves him for no reason from the beating the cartel gave him (which would have never happened if they went by the original character's storyline; Rambo was a recon soldier and green beret...he'd never just walk in and confront the enemy like he does in this movie...so many things wrong with it. Wish they'd given Rambo a better swan song or just left it alone with the last film.
Indeed! I still see another Rambo film. The female journalist wouldn't say anything. This was personal for her because her sister was murdered by the cartel and she spilled their whereabouts to Rambo, so no way! Rambo blew up his tunnels----he buried it! And more would eventually come looking for the missing. Law enforcement on the other hand would soon investigate the ranch based on the Mexico incident. Rambo had to go. He then started off where he left off as a drifter again. I see more of Rambo to come and what l mean by this is think of George Lucas. Remember how he made the pre-Solo film? I see a movie in the future based on a young Rambo becoming a soldier and entering the Vietnam War era; that's a film meant to be. And it can and will!
They should've included the scene. Seeing John in a much better place than he was the last time we saw him, reminiscing about when he was a child. It's like the smile that vanished in first blood, that part of him that was optimistic and looking forward to the day is suddenly back now that he's finally home again.
I liked this scene. It shows Rambo opening up and holding a proper conversation as a family man. It was good to see his character development too. He gives insights into a happy life he had before war and suggest how his life might have been otherwise. The disturbance to his life this time comes from Gabrielle's disappearance sending him back on the warpath. The obvious bond he has with her goes a long way to describing his anger later on.
I know right? He nearly tore up a town because they wouldn't give him a meal in first blood and now he has a free meal and won't even touch it? Nobody's pushin him now.
The only time Rambo ate was in the cave BBQ wild pig he caught in First Blood. And then in Rambo 2, he declined the food offered by the girl on the boat trip.
Beautiful small talks now that is a scene which doesn't make it long & boring but lasting & meaningful love the movie I was hoping in the middle Gabriella still somehow survives & leaves with her Grandma while Rambo makes traps or something
@@Resse_Como Cheers Resse. I got amazon prime, but in Spain, my country, Amazon aint got the extended cut, just the regular, same as theaters. We had the flood scene from the beggining, but not the staff about the conversation in the kitchen and more footage else...
The movie needed more quiet character moments like that, and tied them back into the previous movies. At times it seemed like a different franchise not all that related to Rambo. Just needed a few nods to the earlier stories here and there...

@@BrunoOgawara Thats a shame. I remember some things in the trailers like Hugo saying to rambo "you really want this girl?" And also rambo standing there with the machete from rambo 4 about to finish someone. Also I hoped for rambo saying something through the walkitalki. I wish we got more dialogue of Rambo's past. Maybe some link to previous movies what he did there. Since there never really was any continuity in the entire film franchise. I hoped Gabrielle ask rambo about the events in previous films for example. Or rambo having to deal more with his PTSD, not only from Vietnam, but also from the events of previous films
@@BrunoOgawara actually, I would like to see a 6th movie picking the storyline up just after the events of last blood. I would like too see how rambo attends his wounds and how he is able to survive. I would like to see a devastated rambo. Someone that is even more broken than in the first and fourth movie. I hope they get a movie that shows a lot more of the character than just action. Actually I wouldn't mind to see a rambo movie where there is absolutely not that much action and rather more a story of him being a broken man and see him going through this and ofcourse having to deal with the PTSD.
@@BrunoOgawara I know it is. But almost anyone doesn't have the extended cut due to it not being sold physically unlike the theatrical version, and because it's exclusive to Amazon Prime and as of now, you have to buy it.

I thought they were going to show his son with the Hispanic lady... or some massaging leading to hard core porn... this was useless stuff to put into a movie.

I agree with you. Rambo is not simply a killer in this film. I feel it gives more depth to his character to see him like this.
