- Juice is a 4-yo mare from Sheepshead Heath Creek OR! She was so fun to have her in as a little project. I may share future updates on her... I just brought her to MD two weeks ago. She made leaps in progress from being avoidant and shut down to learning to trust!

Ryan Rose has a really good video about a horses being tight thru the chest/ girth and how that causes snorting while moving. I really like Juice and glad she has a future home. You always place your horses in great hands!!

She is a fine looking mare. That dappled buckskin in the pen with her was a beauty, too. In the mid to late 1960s when I was a teenager I worked with a friend who had purchased a buckskin mustang stallion who would have gone to a slaughter facility. He was gelded at around 2 and I worked with him for a couple of years. He turned out to be a wonderful mount.
We trained differently in those days and no one really used a round pen like they do now. We handled them a lot and we would lead them around with a good rider up as we worked to gentle them and then basically we just gritted our teeth, got on and rode. Sometimes it took a few sessions in the saddle and we'd never know if he would buck or not but after awhile it kind of became expected and at the same time, with a lot of riding, the urge to buck would just go away. Conditioning, just using another method. Mustangs are great horses, they just come to us a little later in their lives and they require a different kind of handling. You're doing a beautiful job.

I have two Mustangs one came from mustang makeover no wip just sit on the ground. Have a couple of treats. Read a book magazine put llung line on the ground and bear back pad water in a bucket just make friends and she'll know you have tools and get used to your voice ( your not friends yet .)🍎

She is gorgeous. Can you say what it was that made you want her? I would have such a hard time choosing. Is it build, attitude, coloring or just a feeling you get when you see a "special" horse?
What color would you call this horse?
She looks very much like a spanish/iberian breed tbh. Not even mixed but purebred even. So strange.
Given her strange attitude of not running but jjust being cautious, I'd even consider the thought of her being a runaway. Or her mother maybe (since foals take after their mother more, maybe SHE was the purebred one).
You should consider getting her genetics tested (tho with a good company, not those shady ones that judge a picture of her).

She wasn’t all that curious. She also does run lol. My arms got yanked plenty times early on 🙂 Fairly normal behavior for any regular mustang
@@SamVanFleet She did seem much calmer than most tbh. Usually I always see them freak out and avoid contact or anyone getting near for ages, so seeing her be so calm was nice.
Tho maybe how she's treated before filming plays a role too. Many people don't let them calm down, they immediately start filming. XD

In the video you stated she was keeping her head down and you didn't want that, why and what does that mean when she's doing it?
She was most likely trying to avoid her, and you would much rather the horse try to reach out and sniff then avoid you.

Different holding locations do different things. Some leave the tags on and some take them off.
