- Hello everyone 😊 today I want to show you guys how to make Chinese New Year Rice Cake 🧧椰汁年糕 (Nian Gao)
Nian gao, (Chinese: 年糕; pinyin: nián'gāo) Sticky (Rice) cake, Chinese new year's cake. It is considered good luck to eat nian gao because it has the symbolism of increasing prosperity every year.
This rice cake is very easy to make and it tastes sweet and chewy similar to mochi cake. If you like mochi cake, you have to try to make this one at home. 😋😁👍
Ingredients
Glutinous rice flour 16 oz
Rice flour 1/2 cup
Wheat starch 3/4 cup
Black sugar 5 slabs
water 2 cups
Coconut Milk 1 cup
oil 1/3 cup
oil cooking spray
Two 8" round pan for steaming

Hi Flora! If u make smaller sized ones, like half sized, how long should I steam them for please? 🥰
You can try to steam 45 minutes and take it out and use a toothpick to poke it in the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean and clear, it means your cake is ready 😊 Happy Chinese New Year 🧧
