I went on a video of the original SNES versions and there’s all these grumpy sods talking about how the new version is awful. I love this, the original’s pretty good but it doesn’t compare to the new!
Jesus christ, Shimomura went so hard on this. She took a relatively great battle thene and made it stuck in my head forever. The layers of instrumentation here are so impressive.
Yoko prooves time and time again that she can do a super-serious grandiose orchestra soundtrack as much as she can make wonderfully cheerful pieces or mixed moods like this: Upbeat, tense, grandiose, decisive and GROOVY
My favorite part is at the intro. The sick drum fill before the horns come in. Then the horns fade out for another drum fill, totally leaving you suspended in uh… suspense. And then that main melody slides in and holy shit. Just absolutely pure magic!
One of the best themes they've done for a boss battle for a Mario RPG. The instruments here go so hard, it's a complete banger and it's so fun to do fighting while something like this accompanies the background. It's so good.
When I first heard this I took a second to just enjoy the music before I even attacked because I thought it was going to be a short battle. Luckily the battle was longer than I expected!
Idky but peeps seem to always forget the part right at the end of the loop, which boggles my mind, given how good it is. Like ik it wasn't in the original but DAMN does it add tension
I noticed a similarity with this and the FF Pixel Remaster songs. It sounds like the use of live musicians included collaboration and improvisation from masters of their instruments. It's especially apparent in the bass guitar and drums before the song loops.
I was about to comment that, it definitely has a lot of similarities to how the music in sticker star was written (idk about colour splash because I didn't listen to any of the soundtrack.) I could definitely imagine this having a distorted version like in sticker star when you're low on hp
I hear people talk about this track's brass (saxophones are woodwind, but i digress), but like, man. *The Guitar* (You can hear it clearer at around 0:40)
it's nice to be able to hear the melody front and center for a change instead of being crowded out by all the other instruments, not so much the other tracks in the remake list
I'm glad this exists. I really really really really really really really don't like the original. It doesn't sound very good in my opinion. I disliked it so much in fact, that my brain automatically filtered it out, so yesterday when I listened to the original I didn't even remember it.
How can I fight seriously when I'm groovin' to this banger?
You can’t 😅

Those people are full of it. I grew up with the original and this rearranged OST does nothing but elevate the material.
The great news is that we can switch between the original and the remastered music in the game.
The big band arrangement is amazing. But the original's hip hop motifs are hard to beat.
I think the cake just moved 😨
you fool cakes dont move!
no it didn't, now stop this nonsense, i don't want to hear it again.

Imagine how good the music for kh4 is gonna be
I hear she also did all the music for street fighter 2 except for two tracks, most notably Guile’s theme
battle thene
These tracks were arranged/orchestrated by different people. Yoko Shimomura is credited only for the original composition.

Don’t take the Lord’s name in vain
bro I love how the Johnny fight brings out the man in Mario one on one combat with both of their friends watching the fight from the sidelines
Johnny making sure you still keep the star is so badass, what a mate.
I honestly thought they removed this from the fight and nerfed him because I apparently did so much damage to him I skipped it. I was bummed out lol.

@@ExitScamwhy, hello, fellow one piece enjoyer.
Oh my god this song has a SERIOUS glow-up.
0:35 that shift to the major chord at the end is soooooo good 🤩
Man good call, I’m listening over again picking up on awesome new things each time
0:17 hits different when you've been waiting 30 years for this remake to happen 🥹

That record scratch at 00:40 is low key my favorite mlment of the song.
now its time to truly ask the question: "Ya like jazz?"
Of course.
And then when you get a 5 chain or more the song gets more dynamic
The aggressively dissonant horn stabs crack me up I love this
My favorite part is at the intro. The sick drum fill before the horns come in. Then the horns fade out for another drum fill, totally leaving you suspended in uh… suspense. And then that main melody slides in and holy shit. Just absolutely pure magic!
She kept the record scratches 🥹
Been waiting for the full version of this to come out for awhile now, sounds great :D
Ever since that trailer dropped...
Yoko Shimomura try not to create a musical banger challenge (literally impossible)
I love how at 0:03 it sounds like a laugh
Yoko Shimomura once again showing her power
Chefs: “Stop! Stop!” (attacking Mario)

Principal solo's.

We need an 8 bit big band arrangement stat.
The first part with the drums reminds me of Art Attack
When I first heard this I took a second to just enjoy the music before I even attacked because I thought it was going to be a short battle. Luckily the battle was longer than I expected!
This Soundtrack was literally the Bomb (Same with the Original Version too)!
Now _this_ is an incredible improvement over the original!
This is giving me whiplash vibes... Like, the movie, complete with drum solos from the movie, geez
This Track just keeps going and getting more and more insane.
I love it!
This music plays when you get sent to the principal's office.
Idky but peeps seem to always forget the part right at the end of the loop, which boggles my mind, given how good it is.
Like ik it wasn't in the original but DAMN does it add tension
It's so good, but that dissonant bit at 0:11 is flatter than the og and it's DRIVING ME UP THE WALL
It lowkey sounds better tho
Sounds pretty fuggin rad to me.

There's no way the pixel remasters used actual live audio recordings, if so that makes me genuinely sad cuz of how poorly arranged they are.
I never knew i needed a mario rpg remake, but i do.
Definitely my fave track of this game
Temaso!
I just picture Bowser jamming on the saxophone, Jack Black style, while the Koopalings provide backup on the other instruments.
sounds like something out of paper mario sticker star or colour splash.

Probably my favourite battle theme from this game :)
Ima say it.... idc ill take the hate. This is better than the original

*The Guitar*
(You can hear it clearer at around 0:40)
The melody is a muted trumpet
But there are some saxophones in there
You need at least mid tier headphones to really hear the groovin bass
I love this soo much!
Stick for a body, head full of straw, give me a scarecrow, rah rah RAH!!

This is so damn good, although it's tune a bit more energetic and lighthearted, not exactly as threatening or intimidating as the original
They really went all out for this remake
This is the first thing I hear when I accidentally run into the meat head at the gym.
the "I dont work for Smithy" theme
I'm money money smart not book smart, makes me more intelligent
it's called "Battling Strong-ish Monsters"
Unpopular opinion: this version is better than the original.
Don't hit me please❤it's just my opinion
I'd say most of the Remake OST is tbh

Just wait until it gets turned into that squidward meme that people always make with the clarinet.
I hate those memes a lot lol
that is a plain lie, and you don't mean that. you are just saying that to be a troll. you like the original better, and I know that's an ultra fact.
Yooo the record scratch is there! Not exactly the same, but it’s there!!!

😄Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. 🎶
I wish they made it more metal instead of jazz
Mario music and Jazz go hand in hand though. Since as soon as game music was able to just be real instruments, they've always gone jazzy.
If Xenoblade has taught me anything, it's that adding more jazz to your battle theme automatically improves it
Also, Deltarune. Gotta funk it out in those battles 🎺
