    Do you like these shorter vids or longer episodes of the Dog Training Experience? The next episode will be my longest yet at around 40 minutes! I thought it would be a good idea to take a step back and examine what my daily routine with Inertia is looking like at this point. So I wanted to do a short, concise video on what our day looks like.

    My pup never slept. Was wild from the time we got up at 6 am until 11 pm at night. Even in the crate... just stayed up and chewed toys or stared into my soul from across the room.

      The dog probably has way too much energy. Try walking the dog more often and for longer times. Maybe even jog. Play fetch and tire the pup out. Then the dog will sleep

    • @jakeepup96
      @jakeepup96 4 роки тому +12

      Nope. He still never gets tired. He gets a minimum of 4 hours a day of exercise and training. He gets a morning walk where we hike this trail for an hour, it leads to a park and we play frisbee, fetch and train. And then later at night I ride my bike and he jogs. He's an active dog. He lays around while I'm at school/work. But he doesn't really sleep, from the cameras hes outside (doggie door) or in the house watching out the window, playing, or barking. Hes 20 months now and he atleast sleeps maybe an hour throughout the day. Hes always been pretty well behaved just doesnt like to sleep. 🤷‍♀️ He will hopefully be getting into herding soon so that might be an outlet. Other then that we do agility, rally/obedience, and scent work. Very active just not a napper.

    • @sih259

    • @jakeepup96
      @jakeepup96 4 роки тому +2

      He sleeps at night fine. Just during the day he doesnt really nap. When he was a young pup I was concerned but now I know its just him. His vet says it's fine.... would have been nice if he slept when he was young 😂 it be a nice break. But he just did his own thing in his crate, and as he got older he just played out of the crate

    Hey Zak, big thanks to you for teaching me how to teach my standard poodle. Ella is 16 months now, started with you 1 year ago, you helped me see from my dog's point of view. Still much to learn. In the beginning my Days began with the PPP: potty, play, practice training EVERY DAY! 30/30/30 90 minutes. can now see how much that consistency helps her behavior now.

      I am the same! What relaxed me a little is the realization that you do not have to get everything right the first time around. All dogs are a work in progress and as long as you educate yourself (through videos like this, books etc.) to get past the hurdles you can accomplish a lot. Your dog will be with you for many years, and one bad decision does not destroy your dogs temperament for the rest of her life.

Now I'm in the middle of training an 11 week old puppy. Coming across your series has been the best! I'm learning so much and your information has been extremely helpful. OMG Zak this is my life, I am 5 days in with our new English bulldog and I trying to establish a routine, it's been really stressful but I am finally seeing some results, my puppy is comfortable in his pen and can sleep in his crate for 1 hour at a time, which is a major milestone. I am just brining him out after any trigger event--playtime, meals, naps--and then some for pee and poops. I am doing some light training and getting him exercised. It's a lot but I looking forward to getting a handle on it and he has a wonderful temperament and is a fast learner. Thank you also for helping through my first puppy three years ago, I now have a wonderfully trained Frenchie who is helping mentor his new baby brother!

But we still have her old Momma who’s now 12.5 years old - and will be getting a puppy in late October. Even though I’m excited for the puppy, it’s bitter sweet since I would rather have my Golden baby back - she was and will always be the first dog I raised from a puppy. Your videos have helped me to prepare for a new puppy, it’s been 8.5 years since the last. I look forward to the challenge now. Thank you very much for this episode!🙏🏻 We were waiting for it. It was very useful!
    Our puppy wakes us up around 4-4:30 am. And he goes to bed around 7-8pm.
    How can we make him to go to sleep later?
    He is just very sleepy at this time and I think we should not wake him up to play or something.
    Looking forward to watching your next episode 🐶💕

    I would love to see 24 hours with Inertia now as full grown collie! It would be very informative to see what a border collie needs in a day.
    Thank you for the awesome videos!

    Hi Zak, I have a 16 week Chinese crested powder puff puppy that I have had for 2 weeks now. I am seriously completely at my wits end on how to handle this situation. I have had large breed dogs( rotti, and Great Danes ) for 20+ yrs. and never encountered a puppy like this. She has such separation anxiety when she is not by my side. She sleeps all night in the crate next to my bed. Very happy in the ex-pen next to the couch, if I’m on the couch, happy in the enclosed area of the kitchen, if I’m in the kitchen. Ok in the crate if I leave the house. The problem is if I go into another room, she will whine, howl,& bark until I am near her again. It doesn’t even matter if my husband is in the room. She legit has carried on for over an hour. I never let her out while in this state. I have given her my t shirt, toys, Kong’s w/ treats. Doesn’t matter she won’t touch them until I’m there. I play with her in the yard for a good logs time plus she gets walks. She just won’t settle! Even when I am there it seems like she sleeps with one eye open making sure I am still there. She will jump up in a second, even if you think she is sleeping. This wouldn’t matter as much if she was potty trained, because I wouldn’t care if she followed me everywhere but obviously she is not. Any advise would be so helpful, Thankyou

    These videos always make my day.
    One thing my vet suggested is when the pup is in a chewing mood is to have a pair of frozen stuffed toys ready to go. You wet them and stick them in the freezer. When they start chewing get them out and give it to them. The cold icy toy will help to curb teething pains.

    Love the series and videos, very grateful for them as we are planning on bringing home a puppy soon. Would you recommend a crate cover? I didn't see one over Inertia's crate and wanted to know your thoughts. Also this routine was extremely helpful - I do have two questions. I will be working from home and am worried that my being home will possibly create separation anxiety when we leave on the weekends, etc. Not that we plan on leaving our pup alone for a long period of time, but the pup will not really be used to me not being there at all. I'm hoping the crate and routine will help but I am so worried about this. Also, do you put Inertia to sleep at the same time every night (similar to how you would a child lol) even if you plan on staying up later on occasion? I'm sure I'm overthinking some things but would love to hear back. Thanks again for the excellent content!!

    I don't care if your videos are long or short. I learn with them both. Bandit is doing well with sit, shake a paw, lay down. I can't get him to play dead or roll over. He is too excited for a treat. How can I calm him down???? Thanks for sharing.
