When Biden announced just as attack was unfolding that "we will not fight WWIII in Ukraine," that gave Putin his greenlight to destruction. He knew he could do then whatever he wanted to do to those people and he would never have to fight any NATO force.
Biden should not have volunteered that poker chip. He should've remained silent and just rapidly built up force and sent weapons (a whole lot faster than we have). Russians are chess masters: keep them guessing. We closed door to intervention in a critical piece of terrain known as Ukraine...Putin's door to dismantling NATO.

Once we blinked and gave dictator go-ahead, he quickly had too much invested in prestige, money, ego, blood to EVER leave. That doomed Ukraine, not Russia, to the slow boil. It's not Russian ruined cities, infrastructure, ruined or stolen crops, resources, refugees, stolen kids, murdered civilian population. Everything that the terrorist nation does and has done in this horrible invasion is terrible. It hits the heart all the more severe when the defenseless, the helpless are harmed and lost: the Children, the Elderly, the Disabled, the Animals.
These times are deeply challenging for everyone, anyone who is a civilized, humane, caring human, that is.
To weep for the wounded and lost is not weak. To weep is to give them remembrance and honor.
I hope you do not feel for very long, sorry for showing your emotions, that people of course understand your tears. That these tears are not only of sorrow but of intense rage and profound hurt.
I feel the question of what good do all these tears do, really!? Rage feels so much stronger. Regardless, these tears need shed.
Those poor Children and their Parents, all Ukrainians, should be alive, safe and well. But they are not. And though none of my words will help them or you, like these tears, I spill these helpless words on to the page.
I wish I had a magick wand to make all the terribleness go away.
The terrorist nation and all terrorists will never be forgiven, nor their crimes ever forgotten.

By the way, some months ago during one of the news coverages of a humanitarian aid distribution point, there was a small Boy who had lost his parents, and apparently all he had left was the tiny Puppy he was cradling in his arm.
My dear Friend Jen and I were very strongly affected by this little Boy and his Puppy. We wanted very much to adopt them both.
My dear Friend Jen and I are just two among a huge league of Rescuers; Divinity Bless them All. I do believe it is the passions of the Rescuers that continue to stand with Ukraine, to fight right now, every day, each as much as they can, in support and care of Ukraine.
I remember writing/speaking with you about that Boy and his Puppy. But I was unable to find the little Boy and his Puppy. All I can hope is that somehow they are safe, somewhere.
I remember questioning myself as to whether it would have been a good thing or not if my Friend and I were to have been able to adopt this precious Boy and his Puppy. Would he, this precious little Boy, been able to hold on to his dear culture so far away from the dear heart of his Nation? Would he have felt, somehow hiding his emotions away, a sense of guilt that he and his Puppy were saved, and others were not, others were dead. Would he have grown up secretly asking the question, 'Why me? What about them?'
And, indeed, what about all the other Children? All dear and good Ukrainians and all the Pets/Animals need saved from the terrorists.
I will, by the way, look over my finances book and send over donations to the Shelter you mention and to the Ukrainian Defenders.

My friend from Kyiv -- she lives here in California -- was on the phone to her family when the missile strike hit the block of flats and killed one person the; this was right across from her family's flat. She was on the phone with her friend in that same building where that attack happened. It is impossible for us who are not there to imagine the horror of this. And it is impossible for us to understand people who can kill children. But is is real. It is crucially important that all of us who are safe *never* accept or "normalize* this barbarity. Although it is hard to hold outrage and grief inside of us, i feel that we must. And remember the murdered innocents, until justice rolls down like a mighty stream, and the killers are stopped.

As you know America and other country is donating to Ukrainian government millions of dollars , but not every dollar is reaching people , or organizations in need . Recently, international media reported , that 400 million dollars of American cash was documented being spread out among CORRUPT Ukrainian officials. A corrupt billionaires oligarch are now living in Switzerland , they are not helping Ukrainian people. Ukraine is one of the most corrupt Country in the World ! CPI rank from 2022 shows.

I wonder if you understand just how precious a woman you are or how much your strength and compassion inspires so many of us. For some time I have careened between brokenheartedness and anger so intense that I feel incensed. Russia mines gold in Africa while the children there starve. Politics. Greed. Ukraine suffers because of a mad man. The world is so afraid of his nuclear power they do little to stop him. Your suffering, the suffering of Ukraine, resounds within me. If I was young and strong I would go there and fight for Ukraine. I have decided never to set foot in Russia ever again. What Russia is doing in Ukraine is beyond my comprehension. There is no need to visit Mordor.
Being an athoritarian regime, the people of Russia obviously have been fed controlled propaganda. I can’t imagine that that many people would be so indifferent to or support such atrocities to humanity. I would hope that people aren’t that callous. I don’t know though…I was completely shocked at how many Americans were so violent and had no issue with attacking people at the Capitol on January 6….so I am probably very naïve with regard to peoples’ hearts and empathy toward other humans. Also, I’m sure many Russians are terrified about what would happen to them personally for publicly going against or speaking out against the government…I mean, look at what Russia has done. Maybe many don’t know what to do as well. I have a hard time myself sitting here understanding how, after ALL THE HISTORY we know about Hitler, how we can let history repeat itself…how we, as a world, can watch Putin murder day after day after day without stepping in. It baffles me.

My dear, sweet, beautiful Olena, holding you close. I see your pain so clearly and I hate Putin for all that he is doing. Put between a rock and a hard place (expression like 2 poor options, not much of a choice) parents In Kiev face the decision to go to the emergency shelter or not with Russian missiles launching it’s a horribly painful choice as you describe so well. And on Children’s Day some of the debris falling from the skies accidentally landed on a Child in Kiev. The emergency shelter door remained locked as the parents tried to enter with child. Tragically Injured & child was killed. Awful!! Horrendous!! Truly vile that Putin & Russia remain on this war commitment. I trust that Ukraine will take action and will win this terrible war. I hope and I pray. Holding you tight and secure Olena. I cannot unhear the bell. When I see you are in pain it’s all I can do. Sometimes in wartime things like The emergency shelter door remaining locked while people are knocking trying to get in. You are so right to point out that it’s not the man in the basement who guards access nor anybody else’s fault but Putin and every Russian soldiers fault. File it under the fog of war category. @@WHATISUKRAINE totally agree. This is a point that needs to become understood unequivocally. Russians, as a whole, are equally responsible with Putin for this horror. The lawyers in America, putting in legal terms (not that this atrocity is a legal matter), would refer to this concept as "joint and several liability." This means all involved in the wrong are liable equally. You're liable for your share of damages and if other liable parties are dead, gone, broke, etc., then just one party can be held responsible for all of the wrongdoing.

Nobody should give the Russians any comfort by assigning blame to anybody but Russia.
I wish that this war was over with the Russians being pushed out and made to pay for the crimes they have committed. Hopefully that will happen soon with the planned counter offensive.

I'm old enough to remember "perestroika(перестройка)" and "glasnost(гласность)" of the Soviet Union in late 80's. But with Putin back at the helm, the perestroika or change has since reverted back to its autocracy. I was waiting for the power of the Russian people to return. But since has only been silent and even compliant on this terrorism from Russia. This also includes other global partners like India and China and Iran and South Africa. Also, happy to see the Ukraine flags in the US, but sadly, I think the tRump flags are the proxy for the Russian flags in the US. As the first time he would again under cut Zelensky on support and promote Putin as a "genius" as he called him. But luckily the Republicans are doing so poorly, I don't think they will get back in any time soon. Unless they cheat and somehow win. Which we will have to be vigilant against this.
