    A good machineing practice is dip the drill bit into multi purpose grease . When you drill the 90% of shavingS GET CAUGHT IN THE GREASE ON THE DRILL BIT

      For people that have aftermarket air intakes or oil catch cans. Just a thought.

    Ooo definitely interested in seeing how this affects my daily oil consumption. I've never had a severe blow-by burn, but oil certainly likes to sneak away, and not on the floor (anymore...)

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  4 роки тому

      This won’t help daily oil consumption. This only helps oil consumption at the racetrack. I’d you’re burning oil on the street you have other problems (likely AP1)

    Nice work! Did you just reinstall the original PCV? Do you think there is a need or benefit to change to a K20A2 unit?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  3 роки тому +2

      I personally used the K20A2 unit but I’ve had people with the OEM PCV have great results. My results are phenomenal though

    What about using a spot weld cutter?

    • @DIYGuysvideo

      Depending on the sizing that could work pretty well. It’s basically a tiny hole saw if I remember correctly.

    Would this be any improvement for a non-track car? Will it help reduce oil consumption on a daily driven AP1?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  4 роки тому +5

      No. The only solution for oil consumption on an AP1 is to buy an AP2 motor 😂

  • @TNSAOD

    No down side to doing the holes twice the recommended size?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  4 роки тому

      Not sure how that will work out. One thing you want to avoid is regular flowing oil getting behind the baffle.

  • @JBaek24
    @JBaek24 4 роки тому

    Nice video! Ty! I don’t track my AP2 so I won’t have to do this 🤪 buttttt would be beneficial for once a month cold start situations for the oil to move around quicker?

  • @rathion2853

    What's the benefit of doing this over simply running a catch can?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  2 роки тому +1

      One of the benefits is that you don’t need catch cans at all, and they are not smog legal in California. Also, catch cans will only work if you vent to atmosphere.
      However I think there is still benefit in allowing the oil to drain from the baffle easier instead of having it potentially trapped in the valve cover baffle.

    can a leak in the baffling cause burning smoke out tail pipe ?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  3 роки тому

      What do you mean a leak in the baffling? I heard reports of holes drilled in the wrong places that could cause some oil loss.

    Any ideas if we can buy a pre-drilled valve cover ?

      No. But if you buy one and ship it to me I can drill it for you.

    wow so f20c is a very good engine? just need to do this and oil issue is fixed? LOL

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  4 роки тому +2

      Super easy. Just replace the F20 with an F22 and all the oil issues go away

      @@DIYGuysvideo im from australia and we dont f22c :( but ok aha

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  4 роки тому +1

      Maybe just an 04+ F20C then. From what I have researched it was a manufacturing issue that was fixed when they moved to AP2.

    • @russelloppenheimer3970
      @russelloppenheimer3970 2 роки тому +1

      @@DIYGuysvideo for posterity, yes, the manufacturing change for F22c, that stopped oil consumption issues, where torque plates used for more accurate cylinder boring, was also applied to RoW F20c, produced after F22c production started.
      So basically '04+ F20c also fixed oil consumption issues.
      So you can tell people, F22c or '04+ F20c will fix oil consumption.
